Devin sat alone in the large living room, staring at the screen of his phone, scrolling through things, finding nothing interesting.

He had barely touched his tea, and his thoughts were all over the place. He heard about the incident involving Henry’s secretary, but good thing he had handled that swiftly. She was alive and safe.

But Viktor? The man hadn't shown his face all night, and he didn’t send for him either.

As if he had been summoned, the main doors opened without warning, and the sounds of heavy boots came from down the house until they got to him.

Devin didn't bother to look up.

"Good morning, Devin." Viktor said with a nod. He was dressed in all black as usual. "You didn't call me last night."

Devin sighed.

“Since when did you need me to call you before you showed up? Besides, I didn’t feel like talking."

Viktor frowned.

“I was busy with some personal matters, and I was also hoping for an update about the situation with Viper and any others. Your men shou

The waitress stared at the card in Devin’s hand in disbelief. Her mouth parted, but no sound came out. “I… I don’t believe it!” She said, eyeing Devin from head to toe. “There’s only one of that card, and it belongs to the richest man in our city! Look at you, it can’t possibly be you!” Petra got up and stared the woman down. “EXCUSE ME?” “Excuse yourself. I’m sure he stole that card! Do you even believe that he’s the owner yourself?” The waitress asked her. Petra folded her arms, clearly unimpressed. “Don’t make me slap you. Swipe the damn thing or I will call your manager myself!” “If this doesn’t work, I’ll have the police down here immediately and they don’t play with us. You will be locked up, and when the real owner sees what you’ve done, oh, you’d be as good as dead!” People we’re already watching now, drawn to the commotion “TAKE THE FUCKING CARD!” Petra said. “You’re a talkative.” The waitress cleared her throat and took the black card from him reluctant

“Are you sure about this?” Petra asked as she walked next to Devin into the Italian restaurant at the edge of the city. Devin gave her a small smirk. “Yeah. I’ve been wanting to meet with you for so long to eat, but I’ve had so much on my plate, and I wasn’t even sure that you were interested in seeing me, so…” She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, you were the one that made that happen, and it’s okay, I understand it. You’re not interested.” She said as they walked in. Devin turned to her immediately and held her hands. “No, please don’t think of it that way. I was just… I was reeling from guilt and there were so many emotions in me. I’m sorry you felt that way. I didn’t mean to make you feel like that.” “Yes, you did.” Devin pulled a chair out for her. “It felt like you were trying to punish me.” He sighed as he sat down too. “No. You’re right about something, but it wasn’t you that I was trying to punish, it was myself.” “Perhaps that’s the case, but you ended up pu

The alley was damp and stinking of piss, the kind of place you wouldn't expect a multi-millionaire like Matt to be crawling around in. But here he was anyway, dressed in a wrinkled grey suit and loafers that had seen better days, looking around like a guilty dog. For the first time ever, he looked quite unkempt. His shirt was untucked, and there were large sweat patches under his armpits that stained his white shirt, and his hair which was usually slicked back was messy from running his fingers through it throughout the day. How awful was this? He had already been humiliated by Devin and had gotten in front of everyone. How could he look people in the eye as a respectable man now? He had been kicked out of the company like garbage, and that humiliation still burned in his bones, in his own soul. This was a small thing to do to get the better of Devin Stone. He checked his watch for the third time. "Where the fuck is this bastard?" He muttered under his breath. "Does he think

Matt sat down outside the conference room he had rented. His legs couldn’t stop shaking, and his body trembled. All he could think about was how he was humiliated! How he was completely disrespected by whoever Devin Stone thought he was! Oh, he was going to show him who was superior, alright, he would make sure Devin wished he had stayed out of his way! He looked at his watch. How guests were supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago, and he had rented the place for an hour. Where were they? He got up and went to take a look inside the room to see if anyone had snuck past him and entered while he was deep in thought. Nobody. The place was so empty that he thought he’d see a person, but the room was so empty that he almost expected to see tumbleweed roll by. “FUCK!” He slammed the door shut behind him so hard the glass rattled. His tie was loose, and sweat had soaked the collar of his shirt. He looked like he was on the edge of losing his damn mind. “Please don’t do that here

When Devin entered the conference room, he could feel it. The place was off, and even though nobody was saying anything, he could feel the tension, and thing was, he understood why. Every major stakeholder of Stone Industries sat around the large, oval glass table, all dressed in fitted suits. He walked to the head of the table and took his seat. He was dressed in a well tailored green suit, rolling the sleeves up to his elbows. He was livid, and he took a deep breath, wanting to take the annoyance out of his tone before he started speaking. “Good evening Mr Stone.” Some of them said. Devin nodded, raising a hand. “Good evening, everyone. Thank you all for coming on such short notice. If I could have avoided this, I would, but something urgent is at hand.” Devin said, sounding irritated. “But let me get to the point, I’m under attack. We’re under attack.” The room stayed quiet, and no one dared to do so much as shift in their chairs. “Some piece of shit filed a lawsuit
