0002 Soul Annihilation

Two figures descended from the dark sky and shattered the entrance seal of the Ninth—fortress sect. In this sect, the cultivators are advised to cultivate their will as a priority and then any other power as extra. However at this moment, the sect master is on an important task and might likely be dead.

The man who had forced himself into the empire stood before countless devoted cultivators who stood their ground. No one would allow an enemy to enter the sect, especially when the sect master is doing something very important and doesn't want to be disturbed.

"Where is Zishan Sheng?"

The atmosphere suddenly chilled at the sound of his voice, causing countless cultivators to cower in fear.

For a moment, no one answered his question, dwelling on their fears, wondering whether the sect master succeeded or not.

Sometimes, the sealing formation can fail and the wielder would still lose their life in the end—

That would definitely put the six universes in a precarious situation… a fragile balance, meaning that after all the struggle, one side would have to succumb.

But then.

"I won't ask the question again. Where is Zishan Sheng?"

Suddenly, a blinding light flashed causing the entire sect to tremble.

The man looked up, his black eyes flashing with a cold, murderous intent. He moved, his entire body embodied in a chilling aura that shook the sky.

The senior disciples of Ninth-fortress immediately took action, their will powering up in order to resist the insane pressure.

"Light."

"Darkness."

"Shadows."

"Flames."

Inscriptions quickly simmered in the air.

光明.黑暗.陰影.火焰

The top senior, Chenyi Lu moved forward, muttering out the four effigies that have been inscribed, giving them vitality.

"Guāngmíng. Hēi'àn. Yīnyǐng. Huǒyàn."

He moved his hands in a strange angle, his two fingers striking northwest.

Then, a terrifying barrier formed, halting the advancement of the invading man.

The barrier actually stopped him which is a big surprise.

"Are you all willing to exhaust your spirit essence and still end up dead or just let me in and I spare your life?"

The disciples of the Ninth-fortress sect did not budge and he chuckled.

"Fine, suit yourself!"

He waved his hands, his pressure descending like a deadly hurricane and the terrifying power sent everyone flying, the barrier itself cracking.

They spat blood, however none of them could do anything since the man had already crossed the boundary line.

"Senior Chenyi, what do we do?"

The young man's face was pale.

Hai qiqi, Tai chi and Mu Shen… the junior disciples just stared at him, weak, almost drained of spiritual energy.

They did not have a way to trap a powerhouse. Plus they did not know if he had achieved Immortality or not— if he had, then it would be a losing battle because the gap between them would be like that of heaven and earth and if he he hadn't achieved Immortality, it would still be fighting a losing battle because, the man must have been cultivating for a thousand years, who knows.

It didn't take long and the man stepped out of the hidden enclave, his eyes burning with a fiery light.

"Where is Zishan Yao?"

Every cultivator instantly paled.

This must mean that sect master Zishan had completed the sealing formation and most likely died in the process.

"Yao is three years old and cannot leave the universe. He isn't a cultivator. The Zishan clan had done something to hide him and only this sect would know."

And indeed, they knew except— the seal cannot be broken unless it reaches the duration of expiry. And of course, only Old master Sheng knows where he had hidden the seal so it would be impossible to tell that he had hidden Yao under the star.

The man was suddenly infuriated and he shouted.

"Are you trying to hide the entire Zishan clan's mistake? Do you want to suffer from a mistake that you all did not commit?"

He suddenly chuckled.

"The only mistake I can see now is— hiding the secret."

There were different cultivators on the Ninth-fortress sect, all from various clans. And with the situation at this moment, the Zishan clan is looking to be under a feud with every clan the very moment these young cultivators are killed.

Things weren't looking bleak at the moment.

The man suddenly laughed like a maniac and whispered. "Fine! I'll make you all talk."

He scribbled something on the void and the next minute, gasps tore through the crowd of student disciples. Who wouldn't recognize that legendary but dangerous technique.

靈魂湮滅

"That's soul annihilation!"

More gasp tore out of their lips, a look of terror and horror appearing on every face. They watched the inscription spun on air, enchanted by powerful vitality.

"Legend has it that anyone struck by the soul annihilation technique would die instantly unless they possess a very sturdy inner world."

The man laughed.

"How many of you possess that kind of inner world? No one!"

He immediately chanted.

"Lìnghún yānmiè. Lines from the end, lines from the brink, connect to create a whip!"

The inscription suddenly transformed, becoming a terrifying whip, crackling with the power of lightning.

"Now, do I have to set an example before you all start talking?"

No one wanted to have their souls annihilated so Zhi Yi, one of the junior disciples spoke immediately.

"They sealed the boy! However we do not know where they've hidden him."

The current from the river of time was like a majestic sweeping force and one wrong move, Yao would be done for. He grabbed his makeshift boat tight, his third eye, spinning like his life depended on it. And finally, the current of the river stopped, giving Yao a breathing space– bringing peace to the surface of the river.Yao did not even know for how long he had been holding his breath, but it had to have been very long because his lungs were burning now. He had yet to transmute his true qi to spirit qi, so he had not entered the dao of spirit. So for now, he can be considered as a mortal cultivator unless he's stepped into the dao of spirit. He breathed in rapidly. He did not know whether something would attack him or not– he did not care whether he would be attacked. Right now, his main problem is surviving the river of time. The thing is, any other attack coming from the peak of the slope will only end up being swallowed by the river. So no matter how many times Yao exhales, it

The floor cracked. Marble stones peeled off the cracked ground then Yao swallowed. A breath. Two breaths. And Yao felt a chill. From the point where he slid down, the sharpness in his eyes took a drastic change and his spirit energy drifted from him and simply painted the sky a transparent hue. For a moment the world stood completely still. Not influenced by the river of time, but rather— something that actually ignores the river. Yao saw the flash arrival of a spear, its tip glistening with an unholy sharpness, the kind capable of splitting the heavens. All of a sudden, the surrounding rivers started to boil. Heaven and earth instantly changed colour. Yao's face turned pale.Although this spear surpassed the limit of what he could handle, he needed it so that he could stop his dreadful fall. He just had to ignore the pressure and avoid contact. Now the spear is only inches away from cutting him open. Yao took a deep breath, triggering the chills. There was a blinding flash as

The path was sloped downwards and the marble floor had droplets of time mist which made the floor wet and slippery. Time is a river so it replicates water which means that if care is not taken, he could slip and slide down the mountain, probably sustaining an injury in the process. This is the path he sought for, but this path was dangerous. One wrong move and he is done for. He swallowed– hard. Yao took a deep breath, and a few seconds later, he crossed the boundary. The moment he separated himself from the enclosure that hid the mountain top, Yao knew that he could not afford to go back again. Not because he did not want to go back, but because it was now impossible. Another defensive mechanism. He took his first step and then the second. From there, he carefully descended from the sloped mountain range. And on each side, Yao could clearly see beneath the mountain. He also saw a massive river that pooled beneath this range. He breathed in and out. White mist followed his exhal

200 years…400 years…800 years…Yao lost count of how many years he's spent inside Zicuen Mountain. He stopped counting, just hoping…probably, he'd break the time suppression around him.The world around him distorted and changed. And suddenly, his vision tilted creating a mesmerising view.Yao stood frozen for a moment, trying to wonder what he was seeing. He saw the void change along with time, then it compressed into a ball that became the memories of time. And these memories carried by time either had to be absorbed or destroyed and somehow, Yao had observed a memory that sent his brain nerves into a complete shock. At first, he saw a universe which was overlooked by the starry sky. Everything had been normal for a long three seconds until the stars trembled. And then merged together, forming what is known as the Starry Fist. Yao did not know why but just observing the memory caused him to spit out blood and he was yet to break the time suppression around him. He had even expe

A century later, Yao's ancient eyes flickered. Fear. Ever since he had awakened from what sealed him, the concept of fear had been foreign to him. It is only now did he know that such a thing existed. The river of time flowed beneath the Zicuen mountain and it influenced time greatly on both outside and inside therefore, stopping time outside, and creating a suppression inside. A defensive mechanism actually. This is to defend against unwanted Intruders who's only intention is to invade and snatch the ancient techniques hidden below the mountain. Yao knew too well that he held no evil intention, instead he only came here for humanity's sake. Not that he even knew how exactly it would help humanity. Despite the selfishness, the mountain did not reject him, rather it bombarded him with its time suppression, probably wanting Yao to break it.Time continued to pass and Yao did not know how long, but if time isn't keeping him exactly as he had entered the mountain, he should have grown

  • 0015 Time Suppression

Yao could feel the distorted nature of time. Sometimes, he felt as if the distance was longer or shorter. He had entered from the top of Zicuen mountain so the only way to those ancient techniques is to find a path that leads beneath the mountain. He found a path. He started to make his way down… trusting Shang Fa that time was frozen on the outside world. The duel that is to happen in three days is not something that Yao had expected and if anything, Mo Shen had only sought him out just to make trouble from it.Yao massaged his temples. He could feel insensitive headaches growing. 'Maybe, I can use this period to enter the clarity realm.’ Yao's third eye suddenly manifested and spirit energy spilled out of his palm, hovering into the inky black crevices of the mountain. Spirit energy chased the darkness only gathering a bit of shadows since it wasn't a true source of light. Then his spirit energy surged, each spirit grains lapping upon each other in a refined manner. No one woul
