Ryan and Lena were both shocked. Cole was an experienced D-Rank hunter and Miles was just a regular human. There was a significant gap in their strength so it didn't make sense for Cole to be defeated by Miles.
“What the hell are you looking at? - Hurry up and get him.” Ryan shouted at the top of his voice, snapping Lena out of a shocked state. Lena grabbed her twin dagger and dashed towards Miles. Compared to Cole she was much more agile due to her traits as an assassin. She leapt into the air and slashed downwards with her dagger but Miles moved sideways to evade it. Lena didn't waste time dwelling on her failed attack as he quickly swung her second dagger towards Miles aiming for his neck. Miles saw the incoming attack and moved his face backwards to avoid being cut. Lena hissed. This time she was disappointed. She recollected herself hoping to still get the advantage and with precision she struck aiming to stab Miles but this time around Miles didn't have the intention to let her go unpunished. He grabbed Lena’s arm, twisted it forcing her to release her grip on the dagger before kicking her in the chest. Lena swiftly blocked Miles' attack with her other arm but the force still pushed her away. She glared at Miles in disbelief, stunned by how he was able to keep up with her movement and the only explanation she could come up with was that he had awakened. One of her arms was twisted from Miles' grip and the other arm was still aching badly from absorbing the impact of Miles' kick. However, her ego and pride didn't want her to accept the fact that the kid she looked down on had a much higher grade than her ability. She hated the disregarding look in Miles' eyes as this made her lose her composure. “You are not going to beat me with those lousy tricks.” Miles taunted. “You puny little brat - “ Lena hollered, in a furious voice. “I'm going to kill you. “ she declared and laced the only dagger in her hands with poison before dashing towards Miles again with the full intent on finishing him with her next strike. Seeing Lena’s action, Miles' gaze focused and in a swift movement that Lena eyes could not follow he immediately picked up the dagger she dropped in front of him and disappeared from where he was standing Lena's eyes opened in shock as she lost track of Miles until she felt the cold steel of her dagger piercing her torso from behind. She slowly dropped on her knees with a mouthful of blood. Miles had truly disappeared. It was just that he moved so fast that Lena couldn't keep up with his movement. It was at that moment that she realized that Miles had far surpassed them and she wasn't a match for them but it was too late. [Ding] [ 1 enemy has been Killed ] [Mission Progress: (2/3) enemies killed] Meanwhile, Miles stood undazed, and his gaze slowly shifted direction towards Ryan who had been a spectator. “You are next, Ryan.” He remarked. For a brief moment, the room was filled with nothing but Lena’s ragged breathing as she collapsed completely to the floor and the wet sound of blood dripping against the tiles. Ryan did not respond immediately. He stared at Miles as if looking at a monster wearing a human face. The bodies of Cole and Lena lay broken behind him—one unconscious with a shattered jaw, the other bleeding out on the floor, her eyes empty and unfocused. The smell of blood mixed with poison and dust filled the room, thick enough to choke. Ryan inhaled sharply. Then he laughed. A deep, unhinged laugh that echoed off the cracked walls. “So that’s it,” he muttered. “That’s why you’re so confident.” His grip tightened around the hilt of his sword until his knuckles turned white. “You awakened,” Ryan said, eyes narrowing. “You filthy little rat actually awakened.” Miles said nothing. He simply stood there, shoulders relaxed, gaze steady—watching Ryan the way a predator watched wounded prey. That silence infuriated Ryan more than any insult ever could. “You think awakening makes you my equal?” Ryan roared. His expression twisted—not into fear, but something far uglier. Rage. “You… bastard.” Mana erupted from his body. His aura flared violently, flooding the room like an invisible tide. The pressure exploded outward, slamming into the walls, rattling furniture, extinguishing the lights. The room dimmed as his aura flooded the space like a storm. Miles felt it immediately. Ryan’s killing intent crashed down on him, heavy and violent, pressing against his chest, trying to crush his spine, force his knees to buckle. Ryan was a C-Rank Awakened Swordsman. Unlike Cole and Lena, he wasn’t just stronger than normal humans—his body had been tempered by mana for years. His muscles bulged slightly as energy coursed through him, veins glowing faintly beneath his skin. “You think beating two weaklings makes you strong?” Ryan sneered. “I’ll carve that arrogance out of you piece by piece.” Miles didn’t answer. He simply took a step forward with an unwavering gaze. Ryan’s eyes sharpened as he stepped forward. Each step cracked the floor. “I’ve killed things that would make you piss yourself just by looking at them,” Ryan snarled. “You survived that rift by luck. Nothing more.” He raised his sword. “And luck runs out.” In the next instant, he moved, violently charging towards Miles.Latest Chapter

Chapter 31
Another Knight swung a massive sword overhead. Miles rolled under it, the edge grazing his shoulder and tearing a deep gash. Blood ran down, soaking his sleeve, but he forced himself up. He was outnumbered. One Knight thrust with a spear, the tip grazing his chest, drawing blood. Another swung a hammer; the force sent him skidding across shattered stone tiles, shards cutting into his arms and legs. Another Knight slammed its broadsword down from above. Miles leapt into the air, spinning, striking another Knight in the chest with a brutal arc of his dagger. The collision of steel reverberated through his arms, sending pain up to his shoulders. Debris erupted again as armor and stone met in violent sparks. Chapter 29
Silence ruled the battlefield. Not the peaceful kind, nor the silence of rest—but the suffocating stillness that followed absolute annihilation. It pressed against the ears like a living thing, so heavy and oppressive that one could hear the frantic pounding of their own heartbeat screaming for escape. The ground was soaked black with blood long since cooled, its metallic stench lingering thick in the air. Bodies lay strewn across the ruined expanse like discarded puppets, their strings severed mid-performance, limbs twisted at unnatural angles.Broken weapons jutted from the earth like grave markers—chipped blades, splintered hafts, crushed shields—all bearing silent testimony to the brutality that had unfolded. At the center of it all stood Miles. No—remained was the more accurate word.He was still standing, but only just. His shoulders sagged beneath the weight of exhaustion, his breath ragged and uneven, each inhale scraping through his lungs as though they had been lined with br
Chapter 28
Hale’s voice tore through the suffocating pressure like a blade. “Hold the line! Formation—now!” His command snapped the group into motion by instinct alone. Kael and Dren moved to the front despite the fear clawing at their throats, blades raised. Boros planted himself beside Hale, shield up, axe glowing faintly with mana. Kira stood behind them, staff shaking in her grip as she began chanting, green sigils spiraling into the air. Hale’s mind was racing. Twenty Death Knights. This wasn’t a battle. It was an execution waiting to happen. “Kira—barrier! Full output, now!” His shout cut through the chaos like a blade. Kira didn’t hesitate. She slammed the butt of her staff into the stone floor, teeth clenched as she poured every drop of mana she could muster into the spell. Runes flared beneath her feet, expanding outward in a radiant dome of pale-blue light that enveloped the entire group. The barrier formed just in time. Steel slammed into it. BOOOOM—! The first Deat
