CHAPTER 5 — Sharing a Room?

The moment the notification sound echoed inside his head, Gavin saw the MMS decrease while the Point bar updated to 150 points.

He was quite satisfied with the result. This only convinced him further that his System truly worked.

“Oh my f—”

Olivia was completely stunned by what she saw.A notification had just appeared on her phone informing her that someone named Gavin Valerio had transferred fifteen million dollars into her business account.

“Gavin! You weren’t jok— No! This isn’t jok—”

Olivia completely lost her words.

Gavin glanced briefly at her phone screen.

“Oh, good. Looks like it already wen—”

“Gavin! Thank you! You just saved my family’s legacy! Thank you... thank you! You’re my hero!”

Gavin couldn’t even finish his sentence because Olivia suddenly threw her arms around him.

“Miss Clark... I... ngh—”

Olivia hugged him so tightly that Gavin had trouble breathing. Without realizing it, Olivia had pulled Gavin’s head directly against her chest.

“Oh! Sorry... sorry!”

Gavin’s face instantly turned red after Olivia finally released him.Meanwhile, Olivia herself didn’t even seem to realize what she had just done.

“Ahem... Miss Clark. You should probably handle your problem first.”

“Oh, right! Right. Just a second. Don’t go anywhere.” Olivia pointed at him while looking down at her phone.

“Take your time,” Gavin replied. “I just want to look around.”

Gavin left Olivia, who seemed busy trying to contact someone, while he casually walked around the club’s first floor.

He still couldn’t understand what kind of situation could push Olivia into fifteen million dollars of debt despite owning a club this massive.

But right now, he didn’t care that much anymore. After all, he wasn’t just helping her.He was also testing his System.

“Gavin... uh, I mean... Mister Valerio...”

Olivia suddenly sounded hesitant about calling him by his name directly.

Watching how casually Gavin solved her massive problem made Olivia start thinking that perhaps the young man standing before her came from some extraordinary background.

Especially after seeing which bank Gavin used. That bank was reserved almost exclusively for people with extremely high status.

In Riverton, only a tiny handful of people probably even had deposits there.

And so Olivia naturally concluded, Maybe Gavin had been hiding his real background this entire time for reasons of his own.

“Miss Clark, there’s no need to act so awkward.” Gavin smiled faintly. “Just call me like usual. Okay?”

Olivia nodded slowly while swallowing nervously.

“A-Alright... if you say so.”

Then Gavin suddenly remembered something. He still needed to find a place to stay.

“Miss Clark, if there’s nothing else, I should probably go now.”

But just as he tried to walk past her, Olivia immediately stopped him.

“Gavin, wait. What about the club?” Olivia looked at him seriously. “Like I said earlier, since you redeemed it... you’re the owner now.”

“Oh, that.” Gavin thought briefly. “We can discuss it later. Right now, I really need to go.”

But the moment Gavin tried walking away again, Olivia stopped him once more.

“What about our agreement?” Olivia spoke quickly before awkwardly correcting herself. “I mean... didn’t you say you had conditions?”

For a brief moment, Olivia remembered exactly what she had promised Gavin earlier. If this young man actually decided to collect on that promise... Then that meant...

Olivia’s heartbeat suddenly accelerated. Because right now, Gavin was staring at her seriously. And somehow, she became convinced he was finally about to ask for what she offered.

“Miss Clark,” Gavin spoke calmly, “I’d appreciate it if you promised not to tell anyone that I’m the one who helped you. At least for now. Alright?”

Olivia blinked several times.

“T-That’s... all?” She looked genuinely confused. “I mean... you don’t want anything else?”

Olivia couldn’t believe that was Gavin’s only condition. Without realizing it, she had already asked about the other possibility herself.

“Well, we can talk about the rest later.” Gavin shrugged lightly. “I really have to go now. Excuse me.”

“Gavin, let me drive you!”

“Gavin, where are you? We’ve been looking for you everywhere. Your phone was off earlier too.”

Hearing the anxiety in Adam’s voice, Gavin became certain that what had happened to him last night had already spread everywhere.

Especially since Brandon himself had admitted that he was the one who ordered those messages to be sent.

At this point, it would’ve been stranger if nobody at the college knew about it.

“Gavin... are you okay?”

“Oh... yeah. I’m fine,” Gavin finally answered.

“...”

“Adam?”

“Bro, if you need a place to stay, then you can—”

Before Adam could finish, Gavin immediately cut him off.

“Adam, I was planning to tell you tomorrow when I got back to college. But since you called, I might as well say it now.”

“...”

“Hello, Adam? You still there?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I hear you. Alright then. So where are you staying from now on?”

Gavin briefly looked around before shaking his head.

“I’ll tell you about that later, okay?”

Without waiting any longer, Gavin quickly ended the call.

“Huft... That was close,” he muttered under his breath.

“Who was that?”

Gavin was slightly startled when Olivia suddenly spoke from behind him. He immediately turned around and gave a small shrug.

“Adam, my friend.”

Olivia crossed her arms beneath her chest and leaned against the doorway.

“Gavin, if you’re uncomfortable, you can switch rooms with me. Or we can...”

“No! No, Miss Clark, this room is already comfortable enough for me,” Gavin replied quickly.

“Okay, fine. I’ll leave you alone then. Make yourself comfortable.”

“Alright. Thank you, Miss Clark.”

“Gavin, I already told you. You can call me Olivia now. After all, you’re my boss.”

Olivia had repeated that several times already, but Gavin still didn’t seem to care much about it. In her eyes, the young man looked like he was carrying far too many thoughts in his head.

“Oh, right. Sorry. I forgot. Alright, Olivia. Thank you.”

After that, Olivia turned around and left Gavin alone in the room.

Earlier, she had been surprised when Gavin mentioned that he was looking for a place to stay after she insisted on driving him wherever he wanted to go.

Olivia still remembered meeting him in front of one of the most luxurious apartment buildings in Riverton.

She assumed Gavin had originally planned to buy a unit there, but after running into her, he ended up using the money to save her club instead.

Feeling guilty for burdening him, Olivia offered to let Gavin stay at her apartment, though he immediately refused.

However, after a bit of insistence—and because it was already getting late—Gavin eventually agreed, though only temporarily until he found a place of his own.

And now, here he was. Inside one of the two bedrooms in Olivia’s apartment.

Earlier, because she had already promised to sleep with him whenever he wanted, Olivia had intentionally teased him a little by suggesting they share the same room.

But once again, Gavin rejected the idea almost instantly.

For some reason, that only made Olivia even more curious about him.

“Has he really never done it before?” she wondered inwardly.
