Because of what happened earlier, Gavin ended up spending most of the afternoon handling his phone number himself.

Right now, he desperately needed a place to stay. There was no way he intended to return to the place where he had experienced the worst moment of his life.

Since he now possessed unlimited money, Gavin began considering buying an apartment for himself.

And that was exactly why he was standing here now. In front of one of Riverton City’s luxury apartment buildings. Considering whether he should rent—or outright purchase—one of the units inside.

After all, according to the System, he needed to spend at least one hundred million dollars every month to prevent his System Stability from decreasing.

And since the System clearly functioned in reality... The punishment probably did too.

Poverty had failed to kill him all this time. It would be ridiculously pathetic if wealth ended up separating his soul from his body instead.

Still, one problem continued bothering him. If he suddenly purchased a luxury apartment out of nowhere, the financial authorities could easily become suspicious.

Gavin still didn’t fully understand how the System made his funds inside global banking networks effectively unlimited.

So in his opinion, being cautious was better than creating problems he might not be capable of solving yet.

“Gavin? That’s you, right?”

Gavin immediately closed his eyes again. Because honestly, it felt like just moments ago someone else had called his name in that exact same way.

“Please, not again...” he muttered.

At this point, he was already sick of people who looked at his shortcomings first and treated that as permission to belittle him.

But the moment he turned around, his brows instantly furrowed. At first, he didn’t recognize her. Then, a second later—He remembered.

“Yes. Miss Clark. It’s me.”

Gavin unconsciously swallowed hard when he saw a beautiful woman in her early thirties approaching him with a bright smile.

The red mini dress she wore exposed almost the entirety of her smooth pale legs.

“What are you doing here? Looking for work?”

Olivia Clark. That was the woman’s name.

Gavin used to work part-time as a cleaner at her club.

As far as he remembered, Olivia had always treated him fairly well. The fact that she even remembered his name was enough proof of that.

“Oh, no, Miss Clark. I just happened to pass by. What about you? What are you doing here?”

“Well...” Olivia hesitated slightly. “Actually, I—”

Then she suddenly shook her head. “Forget it. It’s not important.” She looked back at him. “Are you busy?”

Gavin shook his head. “No. Do you need my help?”

Because Olivia had always been kind to him, Gavin had no hesitation offering his help to his former boss.

“Oh, no... no.” Olivia smiled faintly. “But if you’re free, come with me. Keep me company while I drink.”

Since he had already claimed he had free time, Gavin had no choice but to follow Olivia, abandoning his original reason for coming there.

Using Olivia’s car, the two of them arrived at Noctis Club roughly thirty minutes later.

But once they arrived, Gavin realized the club was closed.

“Miss Clark... why is this place closed?”

“Enough questions.” Olivia walked toward the entrance. “Come inside.”

*****

Fifteen minutes passed...

Just like Olivia said earlier, she really did need someone to drink with.

From her expression alone, Gavin could tell that this beautiful woman was dealing with serious problems.

“Miss Clark... are you in trouble?”

With alcohol already clouding her thoughts slightly, Olivia nodded.

“Yeah. I have a problem.” She took another drink. “This club’s about to be seized by the bank. That’s why I shut it down. Tomorrow, they’ll take everything.”

“You owe money to the bank? How is that possible?”

As far as Gavin remembered, Noctis Club was always packed whenever he worked here. So it felt strange hearing that Olivia suddenly had debts she couldn’t repay.

“Ah, it doesn’t matter anymore.” Olivia smiled bitterly. “I still won’t be able to pay it.”

Gavin nodded quietly. Not everything needed to be shared. Right now, Olivia simply needed someone to drink with. That was all.

But then, Gavin suddenly remembered something.

“Miss Clark... how much do you owe the bank?”

“Hahahahaha!” Olivia laughed weakly. “Why? Are you planning to help me pay it?”

She asked jokingly, though the humor sounded painfully hollow.

“I don’t know. But if I can, I’ll help you.”

Olivia inhaled deeply before exhaling roughly.

“Fifteen million dollars. And it has to be paid today.” Her voice sounded hopeless. “Otherwise, the bank takes everything.”

Gavin nodded again. He looked like he was considering something carefully.

“Miss Clark... what if I can pay your debt?”

Even though she assumed Gavin was joking, Olivia still answered.

“Then you become the owner of this club.” She laughed again. “And I’ll work for you. Hahaha...”

“Alright then.” Gavin looked directly at her. “I’ll pay your debt.”

Olivia shook her head. “Gavin, you’re a good young man. I know that.” She stared at him seriously. “But this is fifteen million dollars. That’s not a small amount of money.”

“Yes, I know.” Gavin remained calm. “But what if I really have it?”

Olivia immediately grabbed Gavin’s cheeks with both hands. She pulled her face closer toward him and stared directly into his eyes.

“Young man... don’t joke about something like that with me right now.” Her tone turned serious. “Do you really have that kind of money?”

“Yes.” Gavin answered confidently despite his face being squeezed between her hands.

“If you can really save this club...” Olivia said slowly, “then I’ll sleep with you anytime you want.”

“Miss Clark, it doesn’t need to go that far.”

“No. I’m serious.” Olivia’s eyes didn’t move away from him. “If you can truly redeem this club and take it over... then you can hold me to those words.”

“Alright then.” Gavin nodded lightly. “But I have a few conditions.”

“I’ll agree to all of them.” Olivia answered immediately. “I don’t care if that money came from robbing a bank or scamming people. If you really have it, then hurry up and help me save this club.”

Olivia was truly desperate. If Gavin genuinely possessed that kind of money, she didn’t care where it came from.

Right now, she only wanted to save the club her family had passed down for generations.

“Alright then.” Gavin extended his hand slightly. “Give me your account number.”

Olivia blinked. “Why?”

“Because I’m transferring the money. Right now.”

“Profit?” Gavin asked, half under his breath. “Yeah.” Caleb immediately leaned forward. “How much?” Honestly, Gavin himself didn’t really understand crypto that well. The basics weren’t hard to grasp, but he had never actually bought a single token before. He didn’t even have an exchange app. He had only heard other people talk about it. “You guys are still here?” Gavin asked when he realized Nina and the others were still standing behind him. “W-We...” Nina stammered slightly. “Just tell us already!” one of the girls behind Nina shouted. “Yeah, we wanna know too!” another added shamelessly. There was no way Gavin could escape now after starting all this. He glanced left and right. Every eye was still locked onto him. So after thinking for a few seconds, he finally answered casually. “One hundred.” Adam frowned. Dylan tilted his head slightly. Nina and almost everyone else in The Yard also seemed confused because the number was way too short. “One hundred what?” “One hu

You can think whatever you want,” he said. “But who exactly are you?”Nina slightly pulled her head back, but Gavin still wasn’t done.“And why is whatever I do any of your busine—”His words suddenly stopped when his eyes landed on one of the girls standing beside Nina.“Oh...” Gavin slowly nodded. “Alright. Now I get it.”At that moment, he finally realized where the ri

The night air felt colder now.“Olivia...” Gavin frowned slightly. “What exactly did you mean earlier?”Several seconds of silence passed before Olivia’s voice finally came from the other side of the call.“Gavin, if your goal is simply to start a business, then everything is fairly straightforward. We choose an industry, find a good location, and start investing.” Her voice remained calm as usual. “But if what you want to build is your own network, then that becomes a different problem.”Gavin stayed silent as he continued walking, waiting for Olivia to continue.“We need information,” Olivia finally said. “We need to know which networks are beginning to weaken, who’s fighting who, who’s losing money, and who’s becoming desperate.
