Denzel wrapped up his fishing once he checked his time.

He was going to prepare Tania something really nice as his apology. They've been married for 28 months and they've never had a major quarrel like earlier this morning. Tania left for work angry and so did he but he was going to make it up to her tonight, with his cooking and maybe a little planned speech.

He had vowed to make her happy when he married her and she's been the sweetest soul ever. He never wanted them to go to bed with anger in their hearts.

Denzel rushed home and arranged the whole place, it was 5:48pm already and Tania closed from work at seven. Say an hour and half, she'd be at the door.

He began cooking and cleaning. He had bought flowers on his way home, so he decorated the place, when he was done, the time read 7:23pm.

He sighed and rushed in to take his bathe, he wore only his pants and waited bare chested.

Denzel waited and waited, the food grew cold but Tania wasn't home yet.

He checked the time, it was 8:19pm, he concluded that her boss might be holding her back for some reasons. She had come home late a few times in the past.

So he waited... Patiently.

When it had clocked 8:43pm and she wasn't back yet, he got worried, she doesn't stay out that late. Even if her boss does hold her back with a task, by 8:30 she'd be home.

So, he called her, but the automated voice kept reporting her line as switched off.

He called her mom then.

"Denzel", the older woman's voice broke through.

"Goodevening mom", he responded, "is Tania with you?" He asked immediately.

"No.. no.. kinda held back at the academy, so I'm not at home, I have no idea if she's at the house. Did you guys quarrel?" She asked.

"No, mom, I just thought she dropped by, she just isn't home yet. I'll call you later", he ended the call and stepped out.

Looking up at the dark sky, the clouds were gathering again.

"I suppose it's gon' rain tonight again", he sighed.

He went in and called her best friend..

"Sophie?"

"Hi, Denzel".

"Sorry for calling this late....is..

"Oh no no", she interrupted, "it's actually nice to hear your voice", he could feel her smile even without seeing her.

"Oh okay.. umm.. is my wife at your house?" He asked.

"Uhhhhhh....", She drawled.

"Sophie?"

"Yeah... yeah..she is", her tone of voice reduced as she said, ".. she doesn't want you to know, but I don't need your handsome self to worry. She's here, she's okay. I should have informed you earlier".

"Oh", Denzel's face fell, "she doesn't want to see me", he murmured to himself, "can I come get her?"

"Oh Denzel, that would only make things worse. I'm guessing you both had a huge quarrel, but I'd bring her home first thing tomorrow morning okay? Just let her sleep over", Sophie voiced.

He exhaled aloud, "Okay, thank you", he ended the call.

He locked the door and windows. It had began drizzling outside already.

He stared at the dinning, but had lost his appetite already. He just left it all on the dinning and went in. Straight to bed and straight to sleep.

Staying up all night to think wouldn't better the situation so he forced himself to sleep.

Meanwhile at Sophie's house, Tania had just finished showering and Sophie gave her a spare nightie while she stepped out of her own dress and got ready to shower.

Sophie was headed into the bathroom, while Tania got in bed.

She picked up Sophie's phone, they've been besties for over eleven years now. Closer than sisters. They knew everything about each other, even down to phone passwords.

She unlocked Sophie's phone and her call history came on. Tania saw Denzel's call.

"Denzel called you?", She yelled.

"Huh?" Sophie yelled back from inside the bathroom.

"Denzel called you".

"C'mon Tania. He was worried that's all. He's your husband".

"Did you tell him I'm here?", Tania's frown deepened.

Sophie remained silent.

"Girl answer me!"

"Yes! I damn did, okay! It's night time Tania, he was really worried. Even if you didn't want to go home to him, you should atleast let him know where you are!" Sophie replied from inside the bathroom.

Tania stood up angrily. She got her clothes and changed into them. At that moment, Sophie stepped out clad in her towel.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"Leaving the house of the one person that's telling me how to live my life", Tania hissed.

"Girl, be real. C'mon I'm just saying he needed to know. Besides I didn't call him, did I? He called me, to show you how much he cared".

Tania didn't care at all, she changed completely and picked up her bag.

"Tania, really?!"

"See you at work tomorrow", Tania scoffed at her.

"Where are you going?"

"Home!!! I might as well go back home to my caring husband don't you agree?" Tania glared at her.

"It's pouring outside", Sophie sighed.

"Why should you care?" Tania scoffed and banged the door on her way out.

Sophie knew how stubborn Tania could be so she didn't bother going after her.

She simply went in and decided to call Denzel.

By morning, the rain had stopped but it was heavy as always, and it seemed to have caused a major disaster because people gathered at the river bank.

They all stared, some taking pictures and videos as the police covered the body and prepared to take it out.

In the early hours of the morning, a fisherman had come out only to stumble on a woman's body at the river bank. The old man alerted the police and it might have been a case of drowning from the heavy rain or something but she had knife stabs that couldn't possibly be a fish's handwork.

A young lady in her night gown had been stabbed countlessly and her body was dumped in the river in the middle of the night.

Yeah, she didn't look as though she'd been washed ashore. The stabs were still fresh and so was her body. She hadn't been in the river for long or maybe she never was in the river.
