Chapter 13. Auction

The opening party of the Dovahkiin Corporation proceeded without a hitch, and soon it was time for the clan heads and heirs to move on to the mini auction house. A lot of people complained saying what quality product will a greenhorn in the business world have that will gain their attention. Nevertheless they still followed behind the blue suit clothed man who was exuding a confident aura.

Inside the mini auction house, the family heads and echelons stayed on one side inside separate rooms while the scions and heirs stayed on another side, also in separate rooms. Maximus had recruited a commoner who seemed to be talented in the art of persuasion. The auctioneer, a thin blond man who had a few freckles on his face, mounted the podium and gazed at the intimidating faces of everyone seated inside their various rooms. Maximus had also recruited several Tech ability users and light element users to not only provide the technology needed for security and bidding, but also to lighten the rooms of the audience. Each room had a screen in which the bidder could see the item being auctioned, there's a microphone near the screen which the bidder could use to speak, and in front of the auctioneer's podium is a large screen which displayed the room number and it's occupant as well as their bids. All these was set to maximize security and minimize the leakage of the bidder's identity. Everyone approved of this method which was why they no longer raised any objections, the complimented Maximus for his genius setup, but in truth this idea came from Anita Dean.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, Kings and Queens, Boys and Girls. Welcome! To Dovahkiin Corporation Auction House!” the auctioneer's voice was maximized through the microphone in front of him.

“As this is our first opening, we will like to give ten percent discount to all our bidders.” all the old men in their rooms nodded their heads at the words of the auctioneer, thinking to themselves that at least Maximus had some brains not to sell at market price on the very first day. Who could believe that Maximus outsmarted them! There was no such thing as a 'market price' nor 'discount' in auction houses! The item always goes to the highest bidder.

Two men brought in glass case, and in it was a golden glowing orb, one could see fire swirling around inside it.

“Our very first item is none other than 'Tritium', also known as 'Eye of the sun'. It's fire base property is top notch. I don't need to explain more on the capabilities of this treasure as I am well aware that you know of it as well.” The auctioneer paused as he observed the excited faces of these old men on the screen, he smiled.

“We will begin the bidding at ten million dollars, bidders are expected to bid with a minimum of five million dollars.” the auctioneer said.

“Twenty million dollars!” an old voice sounded.

“Twenty five million dollars!” someone countered.

“Fifty million dollars!” a voice boomed.

“Friends, I am Alcono Mambos of the Mambos family clan, I wish that you all favor and leave this treasure for me, I shall grant you a favor in return.” the same voice continued.

“If it is indeed Elder Alcono, then I, Vespa Ross of the Ross family clan will hands off this treasure.” someone said.

“Thank you Elder Vespa, I owe you a favor.”

“The Tritium has now been sold to Patriarch Alcono Mambos for fifty million dollars.” the auctioneer's hammer struck the table. The glass case was taken out from the podium while another glass case was brought in, but this one seems to be a polar different from the first orb as this orb emitted a freezing coldness.

“Our second item for the day is none other than the 'ice moonstone'. Bidding begins at thirty million dollars and we will begin the bidding at thirty million dollars, bidders are expected to bid with a minimum of ten million dollars.” the auctioneer spoke, before his voice could fade, the room was filled with bids.

“Fifty million dollars!”

“Seventy million dollars!”

“One hundred million dollars!”...

At the end, the ice moonstone was sold for the sum of four hundred million dollars.

The auction proceeded and many treasures were sold, all netting Maximus the total of thirty billion dollars. Now it was time for the main attraction. Gold was scarce in Broadway City, which was the reason all these old men came for.

“Now for the main gem, the true gem, the gem which our founder got his name from! Ladies and Gentlemen, Kings and Queens, Boys and Girls, I present to you... GOLD!” about ten men came in carrying five long chests. When the auctioneer opened all the chests, a golden lustre filled the room. There were so much gold treasures inside these chests that's enough to drive any Triton resident crazy.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, what we have here are refined gold bars, gold coins, and gold jewelries, all made of pure gold. You can melt them and build whatever you wish. We will begin the bidding at two hundred million dollars, bidders are expected to bid with a minimum of fifty million dollars.”

“Two billion dollars for all the chests!”

“Three billion!”

“Five billion!”

“Ten billion!”

At the end, the five chests of gold was sold for the sum of forty billion dollars which was more than Maximus had hoped to sell them. Maximus was in the suite at the top floor watching all these, he couldn't help but straighten his gold suit and smiled.

“More money means more power, I will achieve my goals, one step at the time.”
