Chapter 16. Facility Raid

Doctor Roache and those with him sneered at Maximus.

"Young man, I don't know how you survived the drawbacks of the D-raze virus, but don't delude yourself in thinking you can just stroll into here and act as you please." Doctor Roache said as he folded his arms across his chest. This brought a smile on Maximus' face.

"What's that saying? Oh yes.. when the Joker smiles, then the Batman won't be able to save anyone." Maximus spoke.. the smile turned into a full blown evil grin.

Maximus suddenly vanished from where he stood, and appeared in front of one of the doctors, he casually held the doctor's neck and lifted him up.

"In a way, I have you to thank, Doctor Roache. You sought to kill me, but instead you gifted me unimaginable powers. I am faster, stronger, and even richer than I've ever been.. and you know what's even more scary? It's not even a tip of the iceberg of what this D-raze can do." Maximus spoke in a low calm tone.

SNAP!

Maximus tossed the now dead doctor aside. The corpse fell with a thud. Doctor Roache and the others widened their eyes in horror. It dawned on them that Maximus wasn't joking.

"I will repeat what I said earlier. Hand over all the valuables, and maybe, just maybe, you get to walk out of here alive." Maximus said and began to radiate killing intents.

"T-there's nothing of value here!" One of the doctors spoke with fear. Maximus frowned, he could see through the lie.. it seems this people were protecting something he wasn't aware of.

"Seems I'd have to eliminate you all and search for the valuables myself." Maximus spoke. He walked back towards the door.

CLICK!

Unbridled fear could be seen on the faces of the doctors. They knew exactly what Maximus meant by bolting the door.. he was going to kill all of them.

"P-please, I-I swear, t-there's really no.." the statement was cut short.

THUD! a corpse laid on the tiled floor.

"When the Joker smiles, means the Batman is far away." Maximus muttered, "When a patient man loses his patience, disaster follows.. when a humbled man can't endure anymore, chaos reigns supreme." Maximus continued.. it felt like he was reciting a poem, but for those in front of him, they knew he wasn't chanting a mantra or poem, he was here for them.

"Meekness doesn't mean weakness, arrogance doesn't mean power.. allow me to educate you on this. Perhaps in your next life, you'll understand this." Maximus stopped talking, and finally made his move.

AHH!

The scream sent a chill down Doctor Roache's spine.. he could blood splash on his face. None of them had seen Maximus move, but he had sudden decapitated one of them. Maximus stood in front of another doctor, a small bloodied knife in his hand. Doctor Roache recalled that he was using that knife to cut through his meatloaf while conversing with his colleagues, that was before Maximus walked in.

Maximus stabbed the neck of the doctor in front of him. Gurgles followed, but before he dropped to the ground, Maximus was already on the move again. Holding another doctor by the neck, Maximus stabbed the knife into his temple, penetrating his skull, stabbing into the brain. Removing the knife, blood spurted out, but Maximus didn't stay idle to admire his deed, he moved to the last remaining doctor who stood beside Doctor Roache, the man tried to turn and run, but Maximus held him by the neck and tossed him towards the wall.

BAM! CRACK!

The poor man slid down and crumpled on the floor.. he was dead. Maximus then turned to Doctor Roache.

"I showed mercy to your colleagues and gave them a painless death.. but for you?" Maximus said and that evil smile returned to his face. "I've got something else planned just for you."

"You're back?" Anita asked as soon as Maximus walked into the villa. Behind him were seven muscular men, and one of them stood out, he had dark skin and much more muscles than the others.

"Yes, I brought recruits with me. They will be working as our new security personnel as from tomorrow." Maximus replied to her. He then turned to Elric.

"This is Anita, my roommate and also Vice-president of the Dovahkiin Corporation." Maximus said. This made Elric's brow raise a bit, but he didn't pursue the matter.

"Anita, please show them to the spare room, they'll be staying here for the night." Maximus said and then walked off, his steps showed he was tired, and truly he was.

As soon as he went into his room, he bolted the door and laid on the bed. His mind reeled on all he had done for the day. Not only had he slaughtered all the doctors at the research center, he had also tortured Doctor Roache using the very same drugs they'd injected into their test subjects. He made the good o' doctor cough up the location of the valuables. Maximus had made a great haul. Cash, a phone book and address of all notable families backing the doctor.. surprisingly, the Richardson Family was among them. Maximus had also hauled off drugs that were 100% safe.. these weren't ordinary drugs, they were two types; 'Perfomance Enhancers' which could temporarily boost the human body, just like a steroid, but only a hundred or even a thousand times better. And then there's the other one; 'Gene Enhancers', this one could permanently enhance the human genes.. strength, speed, brain, you name it, but it came with a draw back, too much of this could burst the blood vessels of the taker.

Maximus' lips curled into a smirk as he thought of this. Although he won't need these drugs, but it didn't mean he couldn't put them up for sale. These will earn him hundreds of millions, billions even.. as long as he played his cards right, then he won't attract the attention of the superpowers backing the facility.. but for now, all these can wait, for tomorrow, Maximus was going to see his wife and daughter.
