Chapter 15. Who are you

Maximus was led to a room. "Rest up, in five minutes we will be back to escort you to the cafeteria where you will eat and recover your strength." One of the men in suit said to him.

"Okay, thank you." Maximus replied with feigned timidness, but as soon as the men left the room, his expression contorted to that of viciousness.

'I will burn this place to the ground.' Maximus thought to himself.

In exactly five minutes, the men returned. They led Maximus to the large cafeteria hall. Maximus had been here a lot during his previous time, yet he pretended to not know where to begin. Maximus was then assigned to a taskmaster, and fortunately for him, it wasn't his previous taskmaster.

"A new addition to my squad? I hope you will spice things up for me." The taskmaster said with an intimidating aura, but to his surprise, Maximus simply smiled. The measly aura of the taskmaster couldn't even faze him.

"This is an interesting one." The taskmaster muttered with a smile. "Come on, I will take you to meet the others in the squad." The taskmaster said to Maximus. Just then, a bulky dark-skinned man walked in.

"Mister Zach, the doctor is asking for you." The man said. Maximus' eyes almost popped out of his sockets. Despite the fact that the man's back was facing him, and also that the fact that the man's physique had changed a lot. Maximus would recognize that voice anywhere, even in the depths of hell.

"Fine, I'll go see the doctor." The taskmaster walked off. The bulky man wanted to follow suit, but his path was blocked by someone.

"Hello Elric, it's been a long time." Maximus said. Yes, the man was none other than his friend, Elric Deviant.

"Ma-maximus!? What the f**k!! H-how!? They said you were dead." Elric stuttered. Maximus simply smiled.

"I get it that you're surprised, but I'd like you to answer a question of mine first." Maximus said, and his expression turned serious. He wanted to know if Elric's allegiance was now with the research center, if not, then perhaps Elric will be of great help to him for his operation.

"What is it?" Elric asked, but his eyes still shone with joy.

"What do you think of this research facility." Maximus asked.

"What do you mean? I work here and I'm paid. I admit their way is a bit unorthodox, but I'm simply here for the money to feed my family." Elric said with a firm voice, this made Maximus smile.

"In other words, if you find another job with a better pay, then you'll ditch this research facility, right?" Maximus asked with a smile. Elric didn't speak, but simply nodded.

"I work in a company, and they need security men, the pay is good. $15,000 monthly. Interested?" Maximus said as he walked towards the cafeteria, he walked away from Elric, and if Elric is truly interested, he will persist Maximus for answers.. and that's exactly what happened.

"What!? Which company?" Elric hurriedly caught up with Maximus.

"The Dovahkiin Corporation of course." Maximus said as he scooped a spoonful of mashed potatoes.

"Yeah, I've heard of it.." but then Elric's eyebrows burrowed. "If the pay's that good, then why are you back here?" He asked with a frown.

"Oh, payback of course." Maximus said nonchalantly.

"Payback?" Elric asked with a confused expression.

"You see, me being here the last time was all a scheme to kill me. The doctors were never going to test me, they injected me with poison and waited for me to die, apparently my mother-in-law had paid them to eliminate me." Maximus said.

"Damn! That's deep. How come you're alive then?" Elric asked with genuine curiosity.

"That's a story for another day my good friend. But for now, do you know anyone else who will ditch this place and work as a security guard for the company I work with?" Maximus asked.

"You do realize if you do this, the powers backing this research facility will come for you, right?" Elric asked with a raised eyebrow.

"They're no match for the powers backing me." Maximus replied with a smile. Then he gently pushed Elric, "Get going.. I'll begin as soon as I'm done eating." Maximus said.

"Fine. Best of luck." Elric replied and walked towards the exit door.

"This area is off limits." A guard dressed in black suit spoke to the man in front of him.

"I know, and that's exactly why I'm here." The man, Maximus, said with a smile on his face.

"Huh?" The guard became confused, but before you could process what Maximus meant, a dagger was stabbed into his neck. He clutched his neck in attempt to breathe and ease the pain, but no matter what he did, he could only gurgle and slump.. dead.

"Damn, even with the suit and polished attitude, you're a measly level 4 human." Maximus said in contempt. He opened the big metal door in front of him. Walking in, he could see a group of doctors in their white overalls.. and amongst them was the very doctor that injected him with the D-raze.

Hearing the door opened, they all turned around and saw Maximus standing.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" One of the doctors asked.

"Oh, me? I'm Maximus Aurum Zenith, and as for why I'm here? Let's say I'm here to rob your facility as compensation, and then shut it down for good as payback." Maximus said.

"Maximus Aurum Zenith?" A voice muttered, it was the doctor that gave Maximus the D-raze.

"Doctor Roache, do you know him?" One of the doctors asked.

"Oh he does, after all, he was the one who killed me after accepting the offer from the Richardson Family." Maximus spoke nonchalantly.

"I-its y-you!?" Doctor Roache stuttered.

"Good, now you remembered." Maximus smiled. "Gentlemen, kindly bring out everything that's of value, I'll be taking them off your hands.. and in exchange, I'll let y'all leave this facility with your lives.. if you refuse? I'll gladly take your lives along with the valuables."
