At 7am in the morning Elvis had prepared for work, and he was ready to leave home, he hugged his grandmother and promised her he would be careful out there because the roads were not safe again.

Walking through the streets of swan street, he felt a feeling of fulfillment. Not like he was earning much, but he felt happy for working hard for his grandmother, who took care of him when he felt like the world had neglected him.

He got to havens supermarket located at roe buck street, Barbados. “He said to himself, thank God I arrived at him”.

As the rules and regulations states, anyone found guilty of lateness, their salary will be deducted. And everyone could see it being boldly written at the right-hand side of the entrance door.

His dedication and selfless service towards his work won him employee of the month many times and this made their Boss to admire him so much.

He carries out his duty without hesitation, he won the hearts of so many customers and some gave him tips.

Elvis also won the heart of his boss Mr. Federico which made him to trust Elvis more than Ray and his other colleagues, and he found favor according to his boss and so many other customers.

This got some of his colleagues talking, they felt maybe he bribed their boss into doing nice stuffs for him, but they had no idea that it was because of his zeal and dedication that he was being treated nicely.

Elvis had already become twenty years of age, and he had achieved little of something. With his little pay, he was able to pay off his grandmother’s debts and buy all her medications and also some foodstuffs and provisions.

With so much trust Federico had for El, it was the reason he promoted him to the position of an accountant. Elvis hearing this good news he got excited and this paved way for him the more, and he believed it was truly the work of God.

Elvis went home that day feeling super excited that he couldn’t wait to break the news to his grandmother.

His grandmother was sitting outside their corridor when he got home that faithful evening, on hearing the news she got happy and proud.

She prepared a nice meal for her grandson and they both ate and went to bed.

The next morning, Elvis was ready to leave home and to start work as an accountant of his office. He dressed in a gray suit, a black trouser and a black shoe with a tie to match his outfit as he wanted to look good. He got to work before everyone else, he arranged his new desk, and he sat on the chair admiring the beauty of the office.

Furthermore, he worked tirelessly to see that no money went missing, and this earned him more respect.

It has already been eight years since Elvis started working in Havens supermarket and three years Elvis was promoted to the position of an accountant and everything has been working perfectly well for him. One faithful day, he came to work all his colleagues were all staring at him, he felt very much worried.

Federico waited as he came inside, and he welcomed him with a slap, Elvis not knowing the reason for the slap, didn’t further to ask “maybe there must be a mistake somewhere, so he thought”.

“Where is my money you thief Federico asked”? Elvis responded “sir I have been working for you for eight years, and you trusted me so much, how would I have stolen your money”?

Mr. Federico responded “people change, and I’m sure you are not an exception”.

In total disappointment and with a teary eye, Elvis was able to respond to his question the second time he asked, “sir, I didn’t steal your money”. Well, tell that to the police, he said.

The police detective arrived at the scene thirteen minutes later, Elvis begged Ray his friend to defend him, but ray denied him and right in front of him called him a thief.

They were like “your enemies have caught up with you, you thought we won’t find out how you have been stealing from the shop without us knowing”. They searched his bags and then Ray told the police detective Mr. Pablo Lawrence he knows where he must have hidden the money. So, they all went to his locker as Ray lead the way. When they got there, he was asked to open his locker which he did but to his greatest surprise he saw a huge amount of money that he was seeing for the first time.

Elvis didn’t know what to say, at that moment he has been framed up and at that moment he knew he has lost his boss trust. Something was really not right because he knew that before he went home, he made sure everything was in the right order, but now they are accusing him of stealing, 10000 Barbadian dollar. He was arrested and taken away in a handcuff.

All that was in his mind was what will happen to his poor grandmother?

He stayed in police custody for two days before he was allowed to go, but Federico refused to pay him for the two months’ salary he was owing him.

He was lost in thought as a walked across the roads of Ado, forgetting that he was on the road, and he almost got knocked down by a car. But the driver horned so loudly that he remembered he was still on the road. He hurriedly left the road as he saw passersby staring at him.

One hour later, he got home, seeing how worried his grandmother was, hurriedly hugged her and told her everything that happened to him and the reason he didn’t come home for the past two days. His grandmother on hearing this started crying, and she felt it was her fault for not providing so much for him and for sending him out to the world at a younger age.
