“If you weren’t so stubborn, I would have asked you to stay back for another week but that’s just me being selfish.” Fabio sighed, he was sitting on his usual upholstery in the living room.

Kai hadn’t expected that everyone would be gathered, he hadn’t even expected that they were going to make a big deal out of him going to work.

He looked around to see everyone but Lorenzo beaming at him, and once again, he didn’t know how to thank the universe for helping him with this amazing family that found him.

“Grandpa,” he drawled as he crouched in front of his grandfather who was drinking in the sight of his grandson, glad to see just how much he had grown and how responsible he’d become.

Fabio hated it but there was a part of him that thanked the Bensons for maltreating him, he hadn’t forgotten about the ways he was going to punish them for it, but them maltreating him had made him grow up as a real human.

He didn’t need to be told, he had seen how much his grandson empathizes with others,

ONE WEEK LATER.“Are you sure you’re okay to return to the office?” Catherine asked as she and Kai got ready.Working with Kai was one of the highlights of her working period ever since Kai came back but she couldn’t bring herself to stop thinking about the exchange between Kai and Fabio the week before.“Catherine,” Kai called as he held his tie out and handed it to her so that she can help him. Not because he didn’t know how to knot a tie, but because he wanted to savor the closeness. He wanted to breathe everything in because he knew that being off work for so long would mean he had tons of paperwork to deal with and that might give him little to no time to talk to Catherine.“I’ve been ready to return since that day I brought it up at the dinner table but grandpa is so stubborn, he insisted I waited till now.” He sighed, and Catherine laughed.“Fabio really is stubborn when it comes to getting what he wants,” she responded as she helped him with his tie. “Reminds me of a certain s

Kai sighed, he knew where his grandfather was coming from, and the last thing he wanted to be was selfish and inconsiderate. He knew that understanding was the best thing to do.He thought about it and knew that a normal person wouldn’t have survived what he went through in the other realm with Catherine but he had been given a rare power, a rare chance. He should misuse it because he thought he was stronger now. “I should have known that you weren’t going to agree to this.” Kai sighed as he focused on the meal in front of him.His grandfather had always made a fuss when it came to him, but he couldn’t possibly blame gon because loss and grieve could make even the strongest man become the weakest. He had absolutely no idea what he would have done if he had failed to protect Catherine, to protect the family that were ready to risk it all for him.Yet, his grandfather had lost his son, and his wife, he had lost enough to make even a man go crazy but he was going strong and that in itsel

Atticus stuck his tongue out like he was a little child, and Teresa grinded her teeth, her fist clenching and while she didn’t say anything, it was evident that she wanted to smother him.Fabio laughed, the sound hearty. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d laughed like that. He’d been so worried about his grandson that he felt the color suddenly draining out of his world with each day that passed. But right now, not just his grandson but every other family member that he’d adopted were all seated at the table, talking and laughing, leaving the past completely behind them. This was why he wanted to leave that gathering early. He wanted to see and speak with them before they all retired to bed, especially Kai.“How was the place you went to?” It was Kai that asked and Fabio only sighed as he sat in his usual seat on the head of the table, overseeing the rest of his ‘kids’.“Well, I was able to escape from there and that’s a good thing, I guess,” Fabio responded, his fingers lacing a

Lorenzo didn’t say anything, at least not immediately as he only smiled and ran his fingers through Shadow’s hair, ruffling it and patting his head.“The last fucking thing I want you to be while I’m still alive is dead, and that’s why I’ll keep feeding you and….” His voice trailed off as he smacked the sugar bomb out of Shadow’s hand before it could get to his mouth.Lorenzo had searched Shadow and hadn’t found anything but he knew that Shadow still had a trick up his sleeve, there was no way Shadow was going to let go of all of his sugar bombs or be soft for that matter. While Lorenzo had looked away, Shadow had secretly created a portal to his room, one that enabled him to grab another handful of sugar bomb without anyone’s notice.Anyone but Lorenzo.“Fuck it!” Shadow grunted, looking at Lorenzo with eyes that he was almost sure Lorenzo wouldn’t be able to resist but he was wrong. “I didn’t think you would realize that.” He sighed.“Yeah, I know,” Lorenzo responded as he seized al

OCTAVIA ADLER. The room fell silent, it was the kind of silence that hung heavy in the air, filled with words neither of us needed to say, and I could feel my eyes slowly fluttering shut. My heart was full, my whole body trembled from the intense workout but I didn’t regret a thing, and if I had to make a choice over again, I would choose to let him use me for his pleasure again. “Are you okay?” He asked, his voice reverberating through the room, and sending cold chills down my spine. I nodded in response, my body limp, muscles weak already. “Come on, there’s something I should do.” He added, and before I could protest, his arms slipped under me. I didn’t even know that he was already standing and hovering over me. Heat pooled in my stomach before spreading towards every single part of my being, burning where it passed through, and knowing that I could never win against him, I smiled and let him pick me up. My body was heavy, boneless, but he lifted me as if I weighed less than
