The man, confused, was about to protest when Kai placed both hands on his shoulders and practically forced him to the backseat of the car.

“I really won’t be alright if I don’t make it up to you,” Kai said as he held the door open for Catherine who got into the front seat of the car, beside the driver’s seat, and when he was sure that she was comfortable, he walked around the car and got into the driver’s seat.

The driver back home was comfortable, and even though the man was experiencing some signs of discomfort because he felt like he should have driven the car instead, he couldn’t help but smile.

Looking out the moving car, the night lights rapidly moved past as Kai drove like the kind of driver that should be featured in a fast and furious movie but everyone was comfortable.

They were sure that they were definitely going to make it back home safely.

“You remind me so much of your father,” the old man said, his voice loud in the silence of the car. Kai didn’t say anything immediate

“What about it?” Kai questioned as he finally sank into one of the empty couches. He stifled a yawn, if his grandfather was waiting up so late for him then it must be really important and his curiosity was taking the best of him too.He wanted to know what his grandfather had noticed about the charity fair that made him want to speak with him, Kai, so late at night, especially after a long day at work.“Nothing, really. I’m really proud of you, and I’m glad you’ve been thinking about hosting something so impactful even before you knew who you truly are.” Fabio responded. He shouldn’t have chosen this time to speak with Kai, he could see how tired his grandson was and after he mentioned the fair, he could see the worry lingering in his grandson’s face.“But, you don’t think it’s going to be a success?” Kai asked, an eyebrow raised. He didn’t think his grandfather was going to say something like that but he thought that after a few words of encouragement, there was always something comi

“It was Teresa, and she was calling because she needed some clarity on what kind of flowers to use for the charity event.” Kai explained, his eyes following as Catherine made her way to the water dispenser to have a cup of water.“Really?” Catherine sighed, disposing of the cup that she’d used. “I saw her calls but I was in the conference room and couldn’t pick up so I had it go to voicemail.”“I know, she told me.” Kai pointed out as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, time was going by quicker than he’d expected and some of the staff on the executive floor were already getting ready to leave.“Was she able to decide which one?” She asked and Kai nodded as he explained to her that he’d helped Teresa decide what flowers to use. Catherine raised an eyebrow, she’d always had an inkling that he knew about flowers but she wasn’t too sure.“What?” Kai pouted, his gaze returning to his computer screen. “Regardless of what you think or how I look, I know quite a lot about flowers and Teresa ha

On getting back to the office, Kai threw himself back into work, making calls, approving and disapproving projects. His mind drifted towards Gina and Jake and he shook his head momentarily.Whatever Gina had done, he was sure that she’d done it out of pure jealousy but Jake was a different case. He was reporting to a force he’s more loyal to than the Benson family.Kai didn’t want to get involved in the matter but he knew that Jake would throw all three sisters under the bus if it ever came down to it, and he just couldn’t understand why they couldn’t see him for who he actually was.The mask Jake had on was already cracking so much that even Catherine could immediately tell that he was a very bad person.“Kai?” Catherine’s voice jolted him out of his thoughts, and he lifted his gaze to see her staring so worriedly at him. “What’s wrong? You’ve stopped working for minutes now.” She added.Kai didn’t know just how deep in thoughts he had gotten until he looked at the paper in front of

“Where are you going?” Gina sprung out of her seat and was now standing before Catherine and Kai. Catherine, who looked confused, raised an eyebrow, while Kai only tilted his head.Jake almost choked on his steak, he wasn’t expecting Gina to spring up like that to talk to Kai, much less with so much protective energy and dominance radiating off of her.Fond also didn’t think that her jealousy had festered so deep into her that she had confronted him without thinking. “Well, I shouldn’t be surprised that you’re leaving seeing as you’re in no position to eat at the same table as me.” She added.Catherine’s teeth gritted, the cold in the room flared, and Kai, knowing that he needed to calm her down, touched her shoulder a little bit as he smiled at her.He knew that Catherine being in this situation would only escalate the situation and the last thing he wanted was for her to waste her time on a bunch of people that weren’t even up to the standard of her shoes.“Catherine, baby. Would yo

EDIT: I WAS AT THE HOSPITAL YESTERDAY AND THERE WAS A MIX UP IN UPDATES. I AM SORRY.________Seeing Kai, especially so easily, wasn't on the list of things that Jake thought was going to happen to him today. He hadn’t said anything because he didn’t want a fight to break out.He needed to keep a cool head, and since Nora’s breakout at the house weeks ago, she’d been acting strange some days, while on other days, she acted like she was fine.Jake knew that something was going on, he’d even try to get her to talk about where she had gone to, but each time he brought it up, she was always going out of her way to not answer.Lila, on the other hand, had decided that she was going to look after her sister even though she wasn’t happy about it. She hated babysitting but part of her was starting to feel guilty.“Jake?” Gina called but Jake seemed too lost in thoughts to even hear his name roll off her tongue. He had forced himself to come out today because Gina had practically forced him.H
