“How do we go about this? Williams will do everything in his power to frustrate our efforts. He is that proud, that stubborn,” Anita said, her voice trembling with worry. She paced the room, her hands clenched tightly together.

“Dad can just call the head of police and request for the lady’s release,” Thomas suggested, his eyes turning to Mr. Johnson with hope.

Anita sighed, frustration lacing her words. “So what do we do? We can’t sit here.”

“I could try reaching out to the head of police,” Mr. Johnson said after a pause. His voice carried both resolve and weariness. “But to get anything done quickly, I might have to bribe my way through. That goes against my principles. You know I have always stood against co

Elvis and Anita arrived just in time, stepping out of the car just as nurse Celine was leaving the police station. Her steps were slow and heavy, her skin pale, her body looking malnourished from sleepless nights behind bars.“Nurse Celine!” Anita called, her voice sharp with concern.Celine turned her head, recognized them, and hissed under her breath. Instead of answering, she quickened her steps, almost limping as she moved down the narrow street.“Please, wait!” Anita shouted again. She and Elvis ran after her. Their shoes hit the rough pavement as if they were chasing down a criminal, but it wasn’t a chase—it was desperation. After a long walk, Celine finally stopped and spun around. Her eyes were red, tired, and guarded. “What do you want from me?” she demanded, her voice breaking. “Are you here to accuse me like Williams did? Should I go back to prison? If that’s what you want, fine! I don’t even care anymore.”Her words cut through Anita’s chest. Elvis raised his hands calmly.

“Please try harder! You’re our only hope!” Mr. Johnson’s voice cracked, his eyes wet with helplessness. He gripped Elvis’s arm tightly, almost like he wanted to draw strength from him.Elvis stood frozen, his eyes locked on the glowing scroll in his hands. Suddenly, words formed across the parchment in fiery letters. His throat went dry as he read them aloud, “She has just seventy-two hours left… before we lose her forever.”The room fell into a suffocating silence. Then, panic burst through Thomas. “No! No, this can’t happen!” His knees buckled as he rushed to his mother’s bedside. Her body was still cold, her breaths shallow. With trembling hands, he touched her arm as tears rolled down his face. “Please, Elvis, do everything within your power to save her. I don’t want to lose her again. I was broken when I thought she was gone before. I became reckless, I lost myself—please, I can’t lose her now.”But before Elvis could answer, Mr. Johnson’s stern voice rang sharply, slicing throug

“Don’t tell me you’re buying that story, Thomas! Come on!” the hefty man barked, his voice thick with suspicion. “He’s your father, yes, but he might be tricking you. Open your eyes!”“You must be a fool to think everyone is as rotten as you!” Mr. Johnson fired back, his voice shaking with anger even in his weakness. His eyes burned into the man’s soul. “I would never use my wife’s death to trick my son!”Thomas pressed his temples, breathing hard, torn between doubt and hope. He turned to his father at last. “Here’s a deal. You’ll take us to where my mom is. If I confirm you’re telling the truth, I’ll let Elvis go free. But if you’ve lied, Father…” he swallowed, his voice trembling, “then I’ll go on with my plan.”Mr. Johnson’s jaw tightened. “If I am speaking the truth—and I am—you and your bunch of losers will regret this when all is over.”The air was thick with tension as they drove in silence. Soon, they arrived at one of Mr. Johnson’s private estates—a place Thomas vaguely reme

He turned again, his steps heavy, his mind racing. Then, stopping abruptly, he shouted, “Untie my dad, you fool!”The men scrambled to obey. Rope fell from Mr. Johnson’s wrists, but his body remained stiff, his gaze piercing through his son.“Dad,” Thomas said, his tone softening just for a second, “I’m sorry this happened. But now… now you’re going to help me. I already have my life figured out. No one is going to ruin it.” He stepped closer, his breath quick, his eyes blazing with determination. “Connect me to Elvis. He is my target.”Mr. Johnson’s voice came out deep, firm, and trembling with pain. “Thomas… you’re no

Thomas’s heart pounded with excitement as he dashed into the bar. He pulled out a bottle of red wine, pouring it generously into a glass. Raising it high, he whispered with a sly grin, “To my victory. To the life I deserve.” He took a deep gulp, savoring the taste of triumph, before striding back to the window. He arrived just in time to see Elvis’s car rolling toward the gates of the mansion. Just beside it, another sleek black car pulled up—one of his father’s private escorts.Thomas smirked bitterly, swirling the wine in his glass. “Dad even gave him an escort. What a display of love!” His tone dripped with sarcasm as he watched both cars pull out, their taillights glowing in the dark.Minutes later, his phone buzzed. His eyes lit up. The men. Without hesitation, he answered.“Boss,” a rough voice came through, “we have him.”Thomas’s lips curved upward. “Perfect.
