First Mission

Elric spontaneously opened his eyes and looked around.

Suddenly, a transparent screen appeared in front of him.

[Hello, I am the life support system that will take you to a new world full of power and wealth.]

"System?" Elric's eyes widened instantly.

He sat up hastily, his hand reaching out to touch the transparent screen, but it stopped in midair. "Why is there a system here? Is this real?"

Elric was so shocked that he was pushed backwards. His gaze on the screen in front of him grew more horrified.

Elric's brow immediately furrowed slightly.

However, he chose to ignore it and tidied up his belongings.

When he was about to pick up his family photo frame, Maverick's foot, clad in expensive loafers, stepped hard on the back of his hand, causing him to wince in pain.

"Elric, Elric. I've warned you countless times to be aware of yourself, but it seems you're deaf to my warnings. Wasn't yesterday's incident enough? Now you have the nerve to come to my lover's company," Maverick sneered.

"I'm here to work; it has nothing to do with what you're talking about," Elric replied.

He tried to pull his hand away while hissing sharply. "Get your foot off me."

Instead of obeying him, Maverick laughed loudly. "Hahahaha, Elric, not only are you shameless, but you also have no self-respect."

He then looked down, staring at Elric with a smug smile. "Your fiancée is now in my arms. And the director position you were aiming for is also mine. Aren't you angry?"

Maverick provoked him by pursing his lips meaningfully. "Ah, by the way, should I thank you for never touching Evelyn? She's very excited."

"Oh, it was just a brief encounter, but I want to repeat last night's scene," he continued with a lewd chuckle.

Elric's eyes sharpened as he listened to Maverick's taunts.

His initial annoyance had now turned into rage that was ready to explode at any moment.

His jaw tightened, and his fist clenched. Even though Maverick was stepping on his right hand, he looked ready to scratch his enemy.

Slowly, he lifted his gaze and stared at Maverick with murderous intent. "What did you do to Evelyn?"

"Hm?" Maverick looked at him and laughed smugly at his predictable reaction.

This further heightened Elric's emotions.

He wanted to destroy this bastard. He must have forced Evelyn.

His gaze fell on a pen not far from him.

He picked it up slowly, gripped it tightly, then turned his gaze to Maverick's calves, covered by designer pants.

"I didn't expect cold Evelyn to be so innocent with her charming attitude. She's like a kitten in need of affection."

"Elric, calm down. I'll spoil her with wealth and satisfaction that you could never give her." Maverick continued to laugh arrogantly, unaware that Elric was preparing to stab him with the sharp pen.

Elric's movements stopped instantly.

He was breathing heavily as he held back his anger.

Did this crazy system actually belong to him or Maverick?

Why couldn't he even hurt someone who had belittled and trampled on his pride?

"Maverick?"

At that moment, Evelyn arrived.

The girl wearing a silver suit glanced at Elric and asked Maverick, "Why are you still here?"

"It's okay. I just got rid of a disgusting rat," Maverick replied, walking over to Evelyn and embracing her affectionately.

"Has the meeting started? Let's go." He smiled sweetly, like a nice guy.

Evelyn just nodded faintly, and the two walked away, leaving Elric feeling disappointed and struggling to suppress his anger.

Not wanting to get more upset, he hurriedly gathered his things and left.

Once outside, he threw the box away in frustration. "System, if you can't even get back at the people who insulted me, then what's the point of you?"

"I'm a human being with emotions. Now I've lost my job, but I can't even get back at them. Are you crazy?" Elric was really upset.

The system he knew wasn't like this. Why was he different?

"Look at them!" Elric shouted, pointing at the company and stamping his feet to vent his emotions. "Did you hear what that bastard said? Should I listen to him obediently? Instead of helping me, I think you want to kill me because I'm too emotional."

The simple sentence resonated lightly, like a golden bell tapping at Elric's heart, awakening him from his anger.

Only after hearing this did Elric feel all the resentment in his heart wash away.

Then he gathered his belongings and walked away cheerfully.

And as if the universe had heard his words, he was unexpectedly reunited with one of his colleagues who had just stepped out of a car carrying a bouquet of red roses.
