Just like Gavin had expected, the lackeys of the village chief returned at the early hours of the next day. Gavin and the man who were fast asleep were suddenly awakened by the loud bang at their gate, he had rushed outside to see who was roughly banging on their gate and when he saw them, an immense amount of anger surged into his veins but even at that, there was nothing he could.
After the anger had subsided he came out of the house and stood before the leader who began to order his men to go in and bring the man out. But before the men could do anything, Gavin told them to stop which they oddly obeyed and stood at a spot.
He asked the leader how much the man was owing to them and after calculating, it came out to be a total of 10 gold coins. Without saying a word, Gavin marched inside the house and after a while, he returned with a small pouch.
Throwing the pouch on the leader, he told them to not bother the man again and went back inside the house leaving them in their blank state. The leader opened the pouch and seeing the gold coins his eyes widened in shock, he sighed and left the place with his men following behind.

"Kid, I'm ashamed to face you," the man said with a heavy voice.
They had prepared and went to the Inn where Gavin cleaned the place and prepared some meals. Since the morning time, the man had wanted to thank Gavin for rescuing him from his huge debt but he didn't know how to bring himself to do it, he felt shameful that a kid was the one to pay up the debt that had been accumulating.
That was when Gavin who is a very observant person noticed the man's uneasiness and decided to ask.
"Ashamed to face me? why is that so?" Gavin asked with furrowed brows.
"You singlehandedly paid the debts I've been stockpiling for months, tell me how wouldn't I be ashamed?" The sadness in the man's voice knew no bounds as he spoke. Gavin wanted to laugh at the man but the sadness in the man's voice could not be ignored.
"Sir, you should not be shamed by what I did because I know that if your son were to be here he would have done it for you," Gavin replied and the man after hearing brightened his face and smiled lightly.
"You are right, you are right. Thank you, kid... I guess my son will be smiling right now after hearing what you said," the man said and sighed.
As they were talking, they heard footsteps at the entrance of the Inn and when they turned they were surprised to see some people coming inside.
"We came to eat, hope you can serve us well," a young man said while the rest began to take their seats.
"Yes, sure! Please feel comfortable while I go get the food..."
"No, I want the fish we ate yesterday," someone said from among the seated people.
"Same here!"
"Here too, I enjoyed the meal"
Gavin stood confused for a moment before he came back to his senses, "Okay, give me a sec," he replied and rushed to the kitchen with the man trailing after him. "Sir, you can go back to your office while I attend to them," he said to the man.
"I want to help..."
"No, it's fine just go in," Gavin insisted and the man had no choice but to leave him and go back to his office.
"Guess Owen shared the food with them yesterday but he isn't here....seems he is still upset," Gavin said to himself as he dished out the food quickly and began to serve the customers, when he was done he took a seat at the counter and watched as they ate.
"Hey, come over!" the same young man that had walked into the Inn with his followers said to Gavin.
"Yes, is there any problem?" Gavin asked when he approached the man.
"I heard what you did yesterday, it's quite a shame that Owen is my younger brother but I wouldn't blame anyone though. As far as I can remember the owner of this Inn lost his son and wife right?" Earning a nod from Gavin he continued, "So who are you and why did you do that for the man?"
Gavin kept silent for a while thinking of the best way to answer the man. " I'm an orphan, he has helped by giving me a place to stay and after giving it a thought, I decided to do something for him," Gavin finally replied.
"I see....you are a mage right? what is your elemental ability?" the young man asked.
"I am not a mage," Gavin replied to the surprise of the young man.
"You are not a mage? hmm, an unusual case but not all that impossible, I was only thinking if you would be useful to me but I guess not. Well, calculate the cost of the entire meals," the young man stood up the same as the people that came in with him.
"1 gold coin and 50 silver coins," Gavin replied after calculating the amount of the meals.
"Here," the man said brought his purse which he opened and took out 2 gold coins and some silver coins.
Gavin counted the silver coins and they were 50 which was correct but he furrowed his brows at the 2 gold coins.
"Sir, it's 1 gold coin, not two," Gavin tried to return the money but before he knew what was happening, the man had left the Inn leaving behind a gust of wind.
"It's a gift from him just take it, by the way, the meal was great, bye!" A girl said as she also left the Inn in a gust of wind followed by the rest.
Now the Inn was empty, Gavin stared at the coins in his palm for a while before picking one of the gold coins and putting it inside his inner pants pocket.
"Everyone here is a mage except me, I need to become a mage but how will I do it?" Gavin muttered to himself while clearing the tables. He spent an hour cleaning the entire Inn and washing the dishes, after he was done he went to the man in his office.
"Come in," the man's voice was heard from inside.
Gavin opened the door and walked inside the office.
"Sir I want to become a mage!"
