Chapter 10: Assault

The world got twisted. Twisting morality and turning the abnormal to normal.

With her deceiving appearance, the little girl steadily looks into me. She regrew her severed arm back. The giant rabbit's head hit into her right arm and stretched forward. Its movement is so fast that dodging is impossible.

I forcefully resisted, sticking my sword between its two giant teeth. Stopped its mouth from crunching me down. A gleam of blue orange shines right inside the rabbit's throat. The blue light got bigger and bigger. I leaped sideways, immediately sensing danger.

Freezing cold wind blasted. Coating everything in ice on its range. The whole eighth floor got so cold for the moment. The coldness is going through my muscles.

I have to endure this coldness and continue fighting to survive.

“Mister, don’t make this so hard… There is no way you’ll win against us.”

(Kukukuku… Rio is correct, no way you’ll win against us… I kind of regret not eating you immediately. Rio becomes interested in you because you’re very kind to help others in need. She likes to extend her life a bit.)

“Should I be grateful for some few minutes to extend my life?”

“I can sense kindness from you, I do feel bad eating you. But this is my job or else I don’t have a place to go anymore.”

The girl said and chanted, “Spell 16: Dimensional cage.”

A transparent screen covered the whole floor.

(Woah, what is this? What is this? Rio! Could it be you wanted to play for a bit with him before eating him?)

“His kind and I wanted to play with him. So that when we devour him, we can have some few memories to recall.”

(I don’t get it but it looks and sounds fun.)

A cage to lock me down. The holes and huge crack that I can use to escape are now useless.

I tried to step into a crack hole but I didn’t fall down.

“Is it really fine? The exam supervisor and some other exterminators with him are on the first floor. Some examinees are also on the first floor. It won’t take time before they notice that something is wrong.”

I stabbed her head with an ice pick first, as fast as possible, and chopped her down. Some of her parts are still in my fridge. The people we eat today have a ‘Bleh’ flavor, having her flesh to wash down the people I just eat would be nice.”

(Kukukuku… The supervisor thinks that his child is still alive. What a moron.)

“I know right.”

Disgusting. These people… Is this thing even a human?

The more I live in this world, the more I believe that I’m already in hell.

This place is a place for the vilest creature in the universe.

“Let's go and have some fun mister!!”

She attacks her rabbit again. Rushing forward, desperate for a chance to get a bite.

(Munch! Munch! Munch! Munch!)

I continue running around dodging the rabbit by all means.

“Mister, are we playing tag?”

“Play on you’re own dumbass.”

She pouted her cheeks and cutely sobbed a little.

“Calling me your playmate dumbass. That means… Playmates should be nice to each other, you know.”

“I don’t care!”

I rotated my path while running and going straight toward the girl. Getting closer, I brandished my sword for a strike. Before my sword hits her, my foot slips on the frozen floor.

I slid down and slammed into the concrete pillar.

“So close… But cutting me is not enough to kill me.”

She said.

I turned my eyes to her left hand that I cut. It just regrows back. Does that mean she doesn’t have a weakness? Everything in this world has some kind of weakness. I should find it.

Consumed by my thoughts, I was unable to dodge a tackle coming from my side.

My body flew and got slammed to the wall. After the first tackle, it was immediately followed by another forceful tackle to my stomach.

Flipping my intestine, I threw up some of the meal I’d eaten this morning.

“Gross…”

I pulled all my all and grabbed the rabbit's head using my left arm. On the other hand, I stab the rabbit's head with my sword. The sword goes through like slicing butter.

The cry of suffering from the rabbit echoed. The rabbit shook its head around. Slamming both walls and pillars continuously. My hand slipped out and the rabbit caught me with his mouth. Then, I flew away, crashing down to the ground.

I lost my sword and it fell down on the floor’s dark side. All I heard was the metallic sound of its fall.

“It won’t be fun if we end this fast.”

(I’m kind of hurt… I’m just kidding… Kukukukuku…)

The wound from my stab closed down. The girl and the rabbit made a big smile, their eyes glowing scarlet red.

“Are we done playing?! Are we done playing?! What should we play next?!”

I struggled to stand up, but my hands and knees slipped on the frozen floor.

I coughed blood.

This is hopeless. There is no weapon or power to fight. I even struggle further. I would die.

However…

“I don’t want to die…”

(Idiot! Of course, no one wants to die…)

The girl caressed her chin and thought.

“Hmm… How about joining us instead? As you see, I’m a half-demon kind. I could see how kind your heart was, but this world is not very kind to kind ones. Kindred was always stepped on and looked down on by other people. I hate it…”

I guessed.

Becoming a demon kind. I’m able to have access to incredible power. Immortal-like ability and strength. With that kind of power, I can go back to Paradise and kill that bastard.

I’m tempted… I’m allured to her offer… That is the only way to survive after all.

Before I opened my mouth, I agree.

The image of Kisara appeared in my eyes. I don’t know why, but her melancholic sleeping face. Her tears… Leaving her would be…

Rio walked closer to me and crouched down, reaching for her palm.

“Mister became one of us. I promise to become a wonderful playmate.”

I slapped her hand away from me.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t… I have two masters so irresponsible. I have to take care of them. If I become a demon kind, I won’t be able to see her again or hear her irritating claims. They are so irritating, I can’t leave without teaching them to become a better person!”

I said in front of Rio and cracked a grin.

The rabbit comes to swallow me whole.

The surroundings were then ignited. The transparent glass cracks down and turns into light particles. The ice melted and behind me, the wall was destroyed by a powerful blaze.

Just like the first time I met her.

Kisara appeared with her flaming scythe. Cutting through the rabbit's head diagonally and burning it into cinders.

Rio leaped back and re-grew her burned hand back.

“What is that supervisor doing?! That stupid! That stupid! Useless!”

Rio cracked her character and shouted.

“Half demon kind… I don’t like this. Weak opponents are my thing.”

Kisara said, observing Rio. She then shifted her glance at me and kicked my hand.

“Who are you calling irritated masters? Be grateful I’m here to save you again.”

She kicks me once again toward the huge crack in the wall. Making my body fall straight.

3-inches before I slam to the earth. My body was levitating.

“That expression of fear… I love it.”

Charlotte said.

“Ch-Charlotte.”

“Let’s leave everything to Kisara.”

A huge explosion happened in the building. A huge spike of ice manifested, destroying the whole building. Blazing flames swallowed the ice, turning it back into the water.

A huge white rabbit, not just the head, leaped away from the building. Mounting from the back was Rio.

“Mister, let's play again next time.”

She shouted and ran away.

“Hey! Come back here!!”

Kisara called her, but the girl was so far away she was unable to hear anything.
