System Activation

I just finished my assignment and of course my darling Davina's own too. " I am the luckiest man on campus for her to have said yes to me." I couldn't stop thinking why Davina had chosen me out of all the hot guys on the campus.

Many had craved her attention but she chose me.

One sunny afternoon as I walked past the cafeteria we bumped Into each other. " I am so sorry," I said gently helping her to pick up her books which fell on the floor as we collided

Davina looked at me and smiled seeing I was apologetic. " You don't need to feel all sorry about all of this. This was my fault too. I should have looked it up. My name is Davina." she extended her hand for a handshake.

My heart skipped a bit " Is this some kind of joke? Why would she want to be a friend with a loser like me?"

Many students don't want to be friends with a loser like me. The fact that I was Intelligent and smart didn't count as something of notice. " He is as poor as a church rat and a leech." I heard Tiffany say to a new student who wanted to be my friend seeing that I was brilliant.

I could feel the whole student looking at us with Davina's hand still stretched out to me.

I knew I would be dumb to refuse her kind gesture. Being friends with Davina who was the hottest girl on campus would change my life throughout my academic session if I could have her love me till then.

" I am Frederick," I replied shaking hands with Davina

The Living Spring campus buzzed with news of me and Davina being friends. "Eew, I wonder what she saw in a pauper like him. He is not worth the attention." I heard some girls whisper behind my back as I walked back to my hostel but I wasn't concerned, the fact that Davina would be my friend was something that had me excited. I was on cloud nine as I whistled back to my room.

The school began to accept me for who I was. Nobody cared anymore about me being poor as they all came to me with their arithmetic to be solved. It was all thanks to Davina.

"Can you help me with my biology assignment? I need to have them done before the end of the day. And also some of my clothes look dirty, do you mind helping me out with them?" Davina begged in front of her friends

The thought of Davina asking me for help was exciting. I quickly used that opportunity to ask her out. " Davina, I know we have only met but I would love you to be my girlfriend. You are all I could think about. I am not in a hurry to get your answers. Please take your time."

But to my greatest surprise, she said " Yes!."

It was the best news I had ever heard since I was born into the world. I was going to date the hottest girl on campus. I hurriedly left her face and rushed off to wash her clothes. I looked back and I saw her smile which even made me more happy. But I was a fool to think this would last for a lifetime not to talk of a semester.

Most of the females were surprised to see me packing Davina's clothes to have them washed. They all laughed and called me names but it doesn't matter. I was doing it for LOVE

I was done with my assignment and decided to check on Davina. She had told me earlier that she needed to submit it that same day. I was walking toward her hostel when I heard some noise as all the student were gathered with their phones recording. " What is going on, I said trying to fight my way through the thick crowd."

I saw Dennis, a moron like me too. Although he was better than me because his parents were the elites in the society.

" what is going on Dennis?" I asked looking puzzled

" I thought you knew?"

" Knew what? Can you just spill it out?"

" Jonas is about to propose to Davina. I don't think she loves you after all." Dennis replied and walked away

" What do you mean Jonas is proposing? I am sure it can't be my Davina. She said she loved me." I was ranting the words severally as I fought harder trying to catch a glimpse of what was happening.

I pushed through and I saw Jonas bending one knee asking Davina to be his girlfriend. It was as if all my world kept crashing down. I watched as Davina said yes and Jonas kissed her, everything was happening so fast that it all looked like a film.

" Was I dreaming? The same girl I had asked out and she said yes was lip-locking with the hottest guy on campus."

Davina looked at me and scoffed "For a second, you think I would date a pauper like you? You can't afford me. The fact that you thought we were an item irritates me. I needed your brain to do some work and it worked. Gosh! I can't believe you do my dirty clothes."

I watched as the students all laughed at me to scorn. I felt irritated and annoyed. I wanted to charge at both of them and beat them to a pulp but I knew I couldn't. As I walked back to my hostel, the lingering gaze of the students followed me as they all giggled and laughed. " loser!." heard someone say behind me

I slammed the door and sat on my bed. I picked my phone up and I watched as a game automatically downloaded itself using my last data. " I guess I am broke after all," I said gently, throwing my phone to the bed angrily

Believing Davina would stick with a guy like me was impossible. I looked at myself and tears rolled down my face. " Why do I always have good things going bad for me always?" I said with a sober face

My attention shifted back to my phone as my hands trembled gently
