Harrison was not in for a fight. In fact, he was in the mood to exchange physical contact with anyone. It was not even his intention to punch him.

He was only pissed off by what he said. He tried to escape and leave the place, but the bodyguards had already surrounded him, and their grips on him were tight, making it difficult for him to run away.

"You think you can escape? You planned to run away after punching me? You dared to lay your filthy poverty hands on me? Wait till you see my wrath. Beat him up!"

The bodyguards, who were waiting to receive command from their boss, began to punch and kick him, causing him to fall.

They did not give him any space at all, they kept beating him up. They did not stop, even when he was coughing out blood.

One of the waitresses going to provide room service on the same floor Harrison was, saw the scene displaying. She could see how badly beaten he was, and the mess it had caused.

Terrified, and not knowing what to even do in the situation, she ran down to the manager's office.

"Did you not learn the hotel's etiquette? Knock before you come in." The manager said, reminding her of the hotel's basic etiquette.

"I'm sorry, sir," she said, bowing her head, "there is a commotion on the second floor of the hotel, sir. A man is being beaten up badly." She reported.

The manager frowned, getting up almost immediately. "Take me there, now."

He followed her to the second floor, and saw the commotion. It was not an acceptable behavior in the hotel.

He quickened his steps, and with a deep frown etched on his face, he ordered the bodyguard to stop.

"Stop, this instant!"

The rich man raised his hand to the air, asking the guards to stop.

The bodyguards seemed to be controlled by a remote, because as soon as their boss asked them to stop, they did, without wasting a second.

"What is the meaning of this nonsense?" The manager asked, lowering his glasses to the bridge of his nose.

"He started it," Rowena rushed to speak.

"Clearly, it didn't look like he started anything. Even at that, should you two not act matured? I bet you two are aware that this hotel belongs to the Gerald family, and here you are, making trouble." He scolded them.

The manager was a no-nonsense person, he did not tolerate any obnoxious act, whether or not you had influence and power.

It was his secret weapon to maintaining his position as the manager.

The rich man knew that it was Gerald's that owned the hotel, and such an act, if it had escalated, would have created another big issue.

"Sorry, but she is right. He started it first. I caught her harassing my wife, I tried to defend her, and then, he attacked me. You don't expect me to keep quiet and watch him assault us physically, do you? I had to defend my wife and I," the rich man said, shrugging.

He drew his wife closer, "are you okay, honey?" He asked.

She kept a pitiful face, and nodded slowly. "Yes, I am. Thank you for saving me just now from this crazy guy."

The manager watched as they acted their supposedly rehearsed lines. He shook his head, not buying their little game.

"It doesn't matter who started it first. You should have taken your fight out of this premises. Fighting and bullying is not allowed here. It is highly prohibited, and here you all are, beating this innocent young man. Were you planning to kill him?" He said, letting out a sigh.

He calmed his nerves down before speaking again. "Unless you want to get on the bad side of the Gerald's family and be banned from coming to this hotel, I advise you to leave immediately. Save yourself from the trouble that is brooding." The manager calmly advised.

The rich man looked at the manager, and nodded. He could not imagine getting banned from the hotel. That was a bruise on his personality.

"Alright, thank you."

He turned to Harrison, looking at how messed up he was, and his face covered in blood. He smiled in satisfaction, at least, he was able to teach him a lesson.

"This is just a tiny bit of a lesson. You are lucky, thanks to the manager. Else, you would have been," he muted, "dead. Just remember this. Don't cross my path ever again, because the day you do would be your last. I will make sure that I beat you up till the extent that you will begin to seek death."

The man said, and made way for his girlfriend who also had something to say.

By now, Harrison had gathered enough strength to drag himself up. His body was in pain, he felt numb at some point.

From a heartbreak last night, seeing his girlfriend getting married to someone else, dumped for being poor... everything was just revolving around him, and he felt dizzy, coupled with the hangover he had.

He sat up, resting his back on the wall. He could barely move a muscle, he just remained there, listening to them talk and argue.

"Hey, loser. In your next life, work harder to make money, rather than find love. No woman loves a poor man. You can't even take care of my needs. You are worthless, Harrison. Here," she said to him, stretching her fingers.

There was a golden ring around her finger. It was a gift to her from Harrison.

She took it off her finger, staring at it like it was going to disappear.

"Remember what you said about this ring, huh? It was a family heirloom. I wonder what made me accept such a gift, because it is nothing compared to this diamond ring my man gave me. It cannot even match the cheapest ring in my jewelry box.

"I believe it's an ancient ring passed down to many generations. How sure am I that you're not the fifth generation?" She laughed, "anyway, I have nothing to do with it. So, you don't have anything against me. Take it back now, you might want to tag me a gold digger because of it!"

She threw the ring on him, and the both of them laughed, walking away.

Harrison just stared at the ring on the floor.

"Are you okay? Do you need me to take you to the hospital?" The manager asked.

He could not hear Harrison's response, as he had moved away to pick up the ring. Just as he picked it up and looked at it, his heartbeat skipped.

He turned sharply at him, and with a trembling voice, he asked.

"A...are you Harrison Fitzgerald?

Tonight, he felt lighter, as if a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders. The glass doors of the hospital slid open, and Harrison walked out, his tall frame silhouetted against the bright lights of the lobby. Harrison took a deep breath and stepped forward to Ivan. For a moment, neither of them spoke, the silence was eerie. Then, Harrison broke it."Ivan," he began, his voice steady, "I know I hurt Quinn. I know I messed up in ways I can't even begin to describe. But... I’m truly sorry."Ivan’s gaze was hard as he studied Harrison, his eyes searching for sincerity. Then, with a slow, deliberate nod, he replied, "I believe you, Harrison. And I can see how much you love my sister. Just... don’t make me regret this."Relief flooded through Harrison, and without thinking, he extended his hand. After a b

The night air was thick with tension. Harrison stood firm, his gaze locked with Jacob’s as they faced off under the dim glow of the moonlight. Jacob’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous glint, a crazed smile twitching at the corners of his lips.“So, you want one of us to die, huh?” Harrison’s voice was steady, though his heart raced wildly in his chest. “You think that’s the only way this ends?”Jacob nodded slowly, his smile widening. “Oh, I know it is. One must die for the other to live, Harrison. No way out of that. And you, Harrison, will die.”Quinn stood behind Harrison, her entire body shaking as she watched the two men. The man she loved and the man who had traumatized her in the past.Tears streamed down her cheeks as fear coiled in her stomach like a venomous snake.“Please, stop this,” she begged, her voice breaking. “Both of you, just—”Jacob laughed, a hollow, chilling sound that cut through her plea like a blade. “No more running, no more hiding. • Back Door And Race.

The aftermath of the explosion left a thick cloud of smoke and dust settling in the air just outside the house. Harrison grabbed Quinn's hand, pulling her close as they stumbled backwards, away from the shattered window. He looked at Quinn, panic etched into his face as the sound of the phone ringing pierced through the chaos. It was Jacob again.Quinn’s eyes widened with fear as she realized how serious Jacob was. Her body trembled, and she screamed, covering her ears, trying to block out the shackles collapsing around her. Harrison watched her, his heart aching at her terror. He pulled her close, whispering reassurances, but his own fear was evident.Jacob’s voice on the other end was disturbingly calm, a contrast to the chaos he had just unleashed. “I’m warning you. Harrison’s voice was calm, yet filled with remorse as he recounted the painful memories that had tormented him for years. He hesitated before speaking again, his gaze fixed on the floor, avoiding Quinn’s eyes.“I’ve been carrying this guilt for a long time,” he began quietly, “ever since Stella… I wasn’t ready to be a father. I didn’t know how to deal with the situation or how to support her the way she deserved. I was reckless, neglectful even, and I regret every moment of it.”Quinn remained silent, her expression unreadable. Despite her efforts to maintain her composure, her heart tightened with sympathy and confusion.Harrison took a deep breath, exhaling slowly as if releasing a burden that had been suffocating him. “I remember that day like it was yesterday,” he continued, his voice trembling slightly. “Stella and I had an argument that morning. It wasn’t anything serious, just about trivial things and then she left the house. I didn’t think much of it. I saw her hurry up, head

  • Tell Me.

The drive to Quinn’s secluded apartment was silent. Ivan’s eyes stayed locked on the road, his knuckles white against the steering wheel. Beside him, Eva cradled baby Eric, her gaze drifting between the passing scenery and her husband’s hardened profile. Harrison, unbeknownst to Ivan, had followed secretly from a distance. He trailed their car cautiously, never letting it out of his sight.Quinn’s apartment was a small cottage, nestled in a deserted outskirt of the city. • Only Hope.

Harrison paced back and forth in his apartment, his phone gripped tightly in his hand. He had tried calling Quinn multiple times, only to be met with silence. Each unanswered call, each unread message fueled his frustration. He couldn’t get through to Ivan either. Everyone seemed to have locked him out. The only person he could think of now, the only one who might listen was Eva.His finger moved over her number. He knew calling her was risky. She was, after all, Ivan’s wife. But he was desperate. He needed someone to hear him out before everything goes out of control.Taking a deep breath, he pressed the call button. The phone rang twice before he heard her soft voice on the other end.“Harrison?” Eva sounded surprised. “Is everything okay?”“Eva, please—I need to see you,” he blurted out, his voice laced with desperation. “Just for a few minutes. It’s important.”She hesitated, her silence making him worried. “I don’t know, Harrison. Ivan wouldn’t like it if he found out we met.”
