Chapter 1

In the Basilan province located in Mindanao, Philippines, a group of doctors and health workers are holding up medical check ups and treatments for the local villagers that are unable to seek medical assistance from the city. Lead by Dr. Henry Solidor, a Filipino doctor, the doctors without borders and nurses treated all manner of illnesses.

Henry: "And there you go, Sabel. Be careful next time you climb a tree. I might not be here if you need to stitch up your wound."

Henry said to Sabel, a local nine year old girl from the village.

Sabel: "I'm so sorry mister doctor. I promise to be careful. thank you very much."

said Sabel with a beaming smile on her face despite the fact that she had just had her leg sown up with eight stiches. She then gave the doctor a hug before she went on her merry way as her raven locks bounced along with her steps.

Sabrina: "Well, aren't you popular with the girls here, Henry."

Sabrina Marks said with a mischievous smile on her face. Sabrina is one of the three doctors that came along in this Samaritan expedition to help people in need. She is a blonde haired and blue eyed American woman in her mid 20s.

Henry: "Well, kids that young just tent to hug people they like. Don't tell me your jealous of a little girl, Sabrina?"

Asked Henry as he raise his right eye brow up questioningly.

Sabrina: "M-me J-j-jealous? D-don't flatter yourself, Doctor Solidor. I-I'm just concerned of what the locals might say about you."

Sabrina stumblingly retorted as her cheeks flushed.

Henry: "I'm just playing, Sabrina. You don't need to blush so much."

Henry said to the panicking Sabrina.

However, as they were speaking, a sudden shout echoed through out the village.

"The Abu Sayyaf are coming this way" said one of the mercenary escorts that were hired to protect the medical group.

"W-why are they here? This is just a run in the mill Village. Are they after the doctors as hostages?"

The commander of the mercenary group said as beads of sweat starts pouring down his face. He then ordered his troops and the medical group to pack up everything necessary from their trip back.

Sabrina: "I think they might be here for me."

Sabrina shared with Henry as they hurriedly pack their equipment.

Henry: "Why would they be after you?"

He asked

Sabrina: "I-I never told anyone this, but my father owns the Marks Corporation. They might have found out about me and decided to hold me for ransom."

Sabrina said with a shaky voice.

Henry: "I-it doesn't matter. Right now we just need to leave. I'm sure they would leave this village alone once we're gone."

Henry said, trying to calm the panicking Sabrina, and also being thankful that they built the health center over a hundred yards away from the village in case a fire fight ensues. As they finished packing up, however, sounds of rapid gun shots echoed out. The Recognisance team of fourteen Abu Sayyaf members caught up with them and manage to wound two of the seven mercenaries

Without thinking of his own safety, Henry grabbed one automatic rifles that the mercenary nearest him dropped and started firing at the terrorists group. It would appear he killed one of them and managed to wound a few more. Henry then help the wounded mercenary up as they fired their guns shoulder to shoulder with one another.

"Thanks, Doc. I really owe you one."

Said the bleeding mercenary.

Henry: "Don't thank me yet. We're still balls deep in trouble."

Henry replied as they walked backwards while returning cover fire to the enemy.

Sabrina: "What are you doing, Henry? When did you learn how to shoot a gun?"

Sabrina said in a confused and panicked tone.

Henry: "No time to answer that. Take him to the van. I'll catch up."

Henry retorted at the confused Sabrina as he handed her the wounded mercenary. He then took two spare rifle magazines from the mercenary and ran back to help the remaining mercenary. With a heavy heart, Sabrina escorted the wounded mercenary to the convoy.

Once he reached the wounded mercenary, Henry dragged him in the newly erected cemented buildings they help make as a classroom for the village children.

"Th-thank... you... do..."

The wounded mercenary staggered to say as he succumbed to his injury. He was shot through and through in his heart. Henry grimaced as he confirmed that the man he just helped has died.

"Dante, can you hear me? Are you and the doctor safe?"

the commander of the mercenary group radioed in to the dead mercenary who was apparently named Dante. Henry moved to answer the call of the commander.

Henry: "Hello, this is Dr. Solidor. I'm sorry but Dante just passed."

Henry said with a sad tone on his voice as gun fire still rains down on his hiding spot.

"Doctor? Yes, I'm sorry to hear about Dante, but we'll be coming there to assist you now."

the Commander replied to the doctor's words.

Henry: "No. You have to take everyone to safety. I'll stay here and buy you enough time."

Sabrina: "ARE YOU INSANE? You're not Rambo, Henry. You'll die there. We're coming to get you right now."

Sabrina butted in angrily at Henry's words.

Henry: "Sabrina, there's too many of them here. If you help me, you'll all be either captured, or worst. Commander, please take everyone to safety."

Henry pleaded to the Commander and Sabrina as he readies himself to fight the terrorist group back. With a heavy heart, The commander ordered the evacuation of the medical workers. Sabrina had to be forcefully restrained by the other mercenaries to stop her from jumping out of the van.

As Henry heard conformation of his group leaving, he then grabbed the dead mercenary's gun with his free hand, stood up from his hiding spot, and rained down bullets on the terrorist closing in on him.

It took about fifteen minutes for the fight to reach it's conclusion. In the terrorist's side that now has over forty armed men, twenty six of them lay dead on the ground, bullets riddling their bodies. On the doctor's side however, he lay on the ground breathing heavily. The cement wall he was hiding behind torn to shred by enemy fire. His body equally as torn with multiple holes.

As he lay there with labored breaths, a man approaches with a pistol aimed at his head.

"You fought bravely, soldier."

The Abu Sayyaf commander said to Henry, confusing him as a soldier based on how he fought.

Henry: "...I'm... Not a... soldier. I'm a... doctor."

Henry replied as he gasps his words out of his dying body. The terrorist commander visibly shocked to know the true occupation of the man at his feet.

"...You are a true warrior, Doctor. you may rest now."

The terrorist commander said before he pulled the trigger and shooting the doctor at the heart. The last thing Henry saw was the bright flash of fire coming out of the pistol's barrel.

Henry: "It's so dark. Where am I? And what was I doing again?"

These are the thoughts that goes through Henry's mind as he falls ever deeper in the darkness. However, a sudden ray of light enveloped his vision and seemingly pulls him towards it.

"Greetings, Mortals. Welcome to the realm of the Gods."

A booming voice said to Henry who is still blinded by the brightness of his new surroundings. As his vision clears however, he is greeted by the unbelievable figures of seven gigantic humanoid figures towering over him. He then noticed four other people besides him, completely nude and seemingly standing on thin air.

"Rejoice, for you all have been chosen to be reborn and save our world from the evil of the Demonic Empire of Zatroz."

The booming voiced continued to say to the confused humans before it.

This is how a doctor without borders' life ended on earth, and is reborn in Marracord. A world of Swords and Magic.
