Chapter 6

Selk's POV

I decided to have Allice become my apprentice after she relayed her true feelings to me. I could see the sincerity and determination in her ruby colored eyes. Since this decision was quite impulsive, I had no choice but to go back to my original plan of flying towards our destination. So, as Allice and her Grandfather are packing a few of her belongings, I prepared our transportation.

I had to look for the carriage that I lent to the guards. Since the horse I created will only listen to my orders, I told it to go with the guard for now, but if I don't handle it directly it might go on a rampage since it still has a monster's soul stone in it.

Once I found the carriage near the village jail, I quickly reform it to a new creature and shape. With my mana pool, it would be easy to create a new creature to fly us to Arcamac University, but it's even easier if I just reform the things I've already created. As the villagers gawk at how I use my magic, I reform the horse and carriage into a large Frost Wyvern with a built in saddle on it's back.

Why a Frost Wyvern you may ask? Because unlike most wyverns that have bumpy scales on their backs, Frost Wyverns have furry and soft backs so it wouldn't be such an uncomfortable ride. Plus, they can use frost magic that can be useful against flying monsters. If we get attacked by flying monsters, frost magic will be very useful.

A lot of the Brownie villagers started screaming when the Wyvern was constructed. I can understand why they have that reaction. If a stranger summoned a class A monster inside my village, I would freak out too. As I explained to the guards about the wyvern I created so they won't start attacking me, Allice, with a change of clothes, and her Grandfather arrived with one bag of clothes and a snack bag for the road.

I thought Allice would be scared of the new beast I made, but her face beamed with excitement once she saw the Frost Wyvern's smooth white scales and fur. Her Grandfather on the other hand had the same reaction as his fellow villagers, as his eyes seem to say "I can't let my grandchild get on that thing." So I explained to him as well that this class A creature is 100% under my control.

Allice said good bye to her Grandfather and all her friends in the village before we left. Once that's done, I asked Allice to hand her luggage to me. I then took a small Abyss Toad from my coat pocket and told it to swallow Allice's luggage.

Allice: "Ahh! The froggy ate my stuff."

Allice said, surprised that a palm size creature could swallow her bags whole.

Selk: "Don't worry, Allice. This here is an Abyss Toad. It has a pocket universe inside it's stomach, so it's perfect for storing our stuff. And this little guy doesn't have a salivary gland, so your bags would be completely dry when we get it back."

I explained to Allice as I help her get on the wyvern and put the Abyss Toad back in my pocket. Once we're secured on the Frost Wyvern's back, we waved a final good bye to the Brownie Villagers and then took flight. Allice was once again riding at my front for safety. She was frightfully holding on to my right arm with a vice grip at the start, but once she got used to the altitude and speed, she let go and finally enjoyed the ride. However, just as I feared, I started to see signs of an up coming attack.

A group of five Forest Wyverns, led by a large dark green one, was hot on our tail. The leading wyvern was much bigger than my Frost Wyvern that was as tall as a two story building and as long as two modern train cart. I telepathically told my wyvern to summon a frost cloud to shake off the wyverns on our tail. My Frost Wyvern then, without looking behind it, summoned a magic circle at the end of it's tail that created a thick freezing mist that blanketed our trail.

Just when I thought that we were safe, the leading wyvern chasing us used a powerful fire breath attack that cleared away the frost clouds that my wyvern created. Thank the gods Allice is having way too much fun with the ride to notice the wyverns attacking us. I don't want her to have anymore trauma that she's already had this day, so I decided to handle our wyvern problem personally.

I Created a flesh doll of myself behind Allice so she wouldn't notice my absence, and told the Frost Wyvern to keep flying. I then leaped off of my wyvern's back, constructed dragon wings on my back, and flew to the attacking wyverns.

I charged directly at the leading wyvern, who intern met my charge with a fire breath attack so hot, it would have turned sand into glass, but I didn't relent and dove head first into it's attack knowing that my Magic proof hood would protect me. I powered through that fire blast and once I was close enough, I gave the leading wyvern a right cross to it's jaw. The Forest Wyvern that's twice the size of a fighter jet was K.O'd by my punch, fell from the sky, and landed on the trees below. A fall like that isn't fatal for such a creature, so I wasn't worried that I might have killed it.

I then stared at the remaining smaller wyverns that was just hovering in place, unsure of what happened. But, when they noticed my killing intent, they dove down towards where their leader fell in fear of me. Since the danger has passed, I flew back fast enough to catch up to my Frost Wyvern, as Allice still hasn't noticed I left. I then disintegrated my double and took back my place behind Allice.

Our trip lasted for three days. That included breaks for bathroom purposes, eating, and sleeping. There was at least one more attempt of an attack from a Rock Eagle, (A giant eagle) but the frost cloud was enough to ward it off. On the third day, we were finally able to see the city of Ortiva, the capital city of the Ortimac kingdom. To avoid causing a panic, I decided to land and turn my wyvern back to a horse (Minus the carriage) and just ride it in to the city.

As me and Allice reached the city's gates, it's clear to see that someone did see the Frost Wyvern that we were riding, because a troop of soldiers are now guarding the gates, looking to the horizon for any signs of an airborne assault. Once we were close enough, a soldier ran up to us and asked "You there. Did you see a large white Wyvern flying around the city?"

Allice: "Yes sir, Mr. soldier. We, hmppp!"

Selk: "Y-yes we did, sir. It landed in the forest near the road. I don't know where it is right now though."

I had to cover Allice's mouth and talk over her so she wouldn't reveal that we were the ones riding the Frost Wyvern.

Soldier: "Thank you for the information. We will send an expedition force to try and subjugate it. Good thing it didn't notice you, other wise you two would be wyvern food."

Selk: "Thank the Gods indeed, sir. Right, Allice?"

Allice nodded to my question with my hand still over her mouth, now understanding the situation. Once the soldier relay the information we gave him to someone else, he came back to us and asked what our business was in the city.

Soldier: "Oh, so you're a university student. Good job on getting in to the Arcamac University. What's your Major?"

Selk: "Thank you. It's medical magic. I was hoping to open my own clinic."

Allice: "Yeah. Dr. Selk is an amazing doctor. He even gave me my ha... Hmmpff!"

I covered Allice's mouth again before she could give out information that might bring me trouble, since flesh mages are looked down upon. However I did remember her hand that I regrew for her. I did repair it, but I couldn't reform the magic family crest in it because it wasn't coded in her DNA. Thank the Gods her Grandfather still have their family's magical crest seal and restored it for her, other wise she would be mistaken for either an orphan or a slave.

As the soldiers let us pass, Allice and I made our way into the city, Allice was in awe at the tall buildings and houses within it that is a far cry from what her village looked like. We then headed to the university's administration building to verify my class schedule and to buy some university uniforms. Once there, all I needed to do was get my schedule sheet and get fitted for a uniform, but for some reason, they insisted that Allice get fitted for a uniform too, since they mistook her for my attendant. I was going to stop them, but Allice said she wanted a uniform too, so I just let it happen. The schedule sheet also had a map to my dorm room, so We decided to follow it so we can set up our room.

Turns out that there's no roommate system in this university, but they do have two beds set up in the rooms. One is for the student and one is for the attendant of said student. Looks like a lot of rich people with attendants study here. When we entered our room, Allice dove straight into the bed closes to the door. Looks like she missed sleeping on a bed since she's been sleeping atop a furry wyvern these last few days.

Allice: "Dr. Selk, will I be attending classes with you since I'm your apprentice and attendant?"

Selk: "I don't think so, Allice. The Schedule sheet specifically says It's just me, but I'm sure you can go to the school cafeteria when you get hungry or go to the library if you want to read something."

Allice: "Yey! reading books. Grandad taught me how to read so I'll definitely do that."

With that I took our clothes out of the Abyss Toad and put them on our separate drawers. We then decided to take a tour of the University grounds to get used to navigating our way in it. As Allice and I were having fun touring the school, I heard a familiar yet unexpected voice calling out to me.

"Selk? Selk Shroudder, is that you?"

A voice from our rear called out to me. This was the voice of one of my fellow champions. The Empress of the High Seas, Princess of Rainfalls, and all other cringe worthy names that have been given to her by her adoring fans. She is Sarah Barbosa, Champion of the Water Goddess Aquardia

Selk: "Wow, Sarah. I wasn't expecting to see you here. Well, at least not this early. How have you been?"

Sarah: "Oh, I've been doing great. I was dubbed as head of my family just last month, and as head, I at least need to finish the royal courses before I can get formally seated as the head."

Selk: "Sounds like hard work. Specially since I know how much You hate politics and red tapes."

Sarah: "I know, right. I really wish father just picked big brother Angus as the head, but father said that since I'm one of the seven heroes, I should be the head. So, how's your life going, and who is this cute little Brownie girl?"

Sarah asked me how I was doing and who Allice was. I was so drawn in on our conversation that I even forgot to introduce Allice to Sarah.

Selk: "Oh, right. This is Allice, my apprentice. Allice, meet Sarah, She's one of the friends I was talking about before."

Allice: "H-hello. N-nice to meet you. M-my name is Allice. Dr. Selk's a-apprentice."

Sarah: "Oh, my Goddess, aren't you the most adorable Brownie to ever live?"

Sarah said as she went and hugged Allice abruptly. Allice was a little shy and self conscious about it, but she just let Sarah continue to hug her.

Selk: "Stop that Sarah. You're making my apprentice uncomfortable."

Sarah: "What's the matter, Selk? Are you jelly. You can't hog such a cutie like Allice all to yourself, you know. Share a little love for your comrades, why don't you."

Selk: "I see your Goddess has completely rubbed off on you, hasn't she?"

Sarah: "Goddess Aquardia has nothing to do with this. So, Allice, how did you and this up tight Doctor meet?"

Sarah asked Allice while she couldn't help herself to insult me, the little witch.

Allice: "Dr. Selk saved me from bad people who were going to sell me to a pervert. Dr. Selk was so awesome when he used his Flesh Magic on them."

Allice replied, losing her nervous stutter while singing my praises to my old friend.

Sarah: "Oh, was he now? So, have you fallen in love with our Selk over there?"

Selk: "Oy, Sarah. What the hell are you asking a ten year old girl?"

I scolded Sarah for asking such a loaded question to a child. However, what Allice said was the one that really caught me by surprise.

Allice: "Y-yes, I have. I-I want to stay by Dr. Selk side forever. "

Sarah: "KYAAAAAAAA! First loves are so adorable. What do you say to that, Selk? Looks like you're racking up a real good harem line up."

Selk: "W-what the hell are you talking about, Sarah? And Allice, don't make jokes like that. People might think I'm a pervert."

I now scolded Allice for such a bad taste joke and going along with Sarah's flow.

Sarah: "What am I talking about you say? You know exactly what I'm talking about, Mr. Don Selk Demarco. What do you think Vina will say about this?"

(Don Juan Demarco reference over here)

Selk: "This has nothing to do with that girl. She's back in Nordine kingdom training knights."

Or so I thought, but what Sarah said next made cold sweats pour down my back.

Sarah: "Shows what you know. Vina is going to attend this university too. She told me she'll be coming all this way to see you, Selk."

Sarah said with a mischievous grin on her face as I panic in my head.

Meanwhile, in the demonic kingdom of Zatroz.

Within the Demon king's palace, a kobold warrior hurriedly opened the royal chambers' doors to inform the demon king of an urgent matter.

Kobold Warrior: "King Hadora, Demon Prince Hadan wishes for your audience, my lord."

King Hadora: "So, my son survived after all this time. Send him in."

The king, in the visage of a large muscular man with four horns on his forehead and wearing a dark purple armor with a depiction of a monster's face in the torso area said.

Prince Hadan: "I don't need your permission to enter this chamber, father."

The demonic prince, with two horns on his forehead and an almost identical armor snapped back at his father in a seemingly disrespectful tone.

King Hadora: "I see your long absence have sharpened your tongue yet dulled your respect."

Prince Hadan: "Respect? You dare seek my respect, Old man? When my men and I were shipwrecked on the far south of the world after a fierce battle with the water and wind hero, I held hope that we will win this war with your guidance and power. Then, when we finally made it back here after two years of arduous journey, we find out that you not only lost the war, but signed a peace treaty with the humans? Explain yourself, Father."

King Hadora: "I am the king of these lands. I need not explain myself to the likes of you. Now, go back to your chambers and rest. You will recount to me of your journey back home once you have cleared your mind."

Prince Hadan: "Oh, my mind is clear, old man. First time in years. And I think the demon race needs a new king. And I only see myself fit for that position."

With that said, the demon prince drew the sword fastened on his left hip and charged at his father to take the thrown from him.
