“People like him can't afford even a button here”

The words rang over and over in Logan's head. If he had been the Logan of two days ago, then probably he would have sunken by now, running as far as he could to go wallow in his misery.

But he wasn't that Logan anymore, was he?. Of course not, he was a different man now, words like this would only itch in his ears and nothing more.

Logan smirked and looked away, as if it was a mere fly that had just made a sound.

“Please stop,” the black-haired lady said firmly to the blonde. “Don’t talk like that.”

Hearing this, Logan didn’t respond. He ignored the blonde and continued choosing clothes, he would not let any of this get to him.

He picked shirts, trousers, jackets, suits, everything he liked. He gathered them all and walked toward the counter.

Unfortunately, the blonde-haired lady’s friend was the cashier behind the counter.

The moment Logan put the clothes down, the cashier smirked and whispered to the blonde, who laughed out loud.

“So he’s actually buying?” the cashier said mockingly. “Wow. This will be fun.”

Logan ignored their mockery, he took out his card and placed it on the counter.

“Here,” he said calmly.

The cashier stared at him for a while, then she ran the card, but it declined.

Seeing this, her eyes squeezed with disdain and then she burst into a mocking laughter. “I knew it! You can’t afford anything here!”

“Try again,” Logan said.

She did and it declined again.

Her smile grew wider and so did her patience grow thin. “Should I call security? Or will you leave peacefully?”

Her voice was loud so the people nearby turned their heads, watching what was unfolding in the boutique.

The black-haired lady quickly rushed forward. “Sir, please… don’t take any of this to heart. Not everyone is like them. Just, ignore their words.”

“It’s fine,” Logan said softly.

He always knew that there would definitely be people like this everywhere, evil people who derive joy in hating the poor even when they themselves are not doing so well.

It was more of a way to console themselves by pointing out people they were a little better than and humiliating them afterwards.

The cashier rolled her eyes. “Please. Stop pretending. You don’t have money, leave the clothes and get out.”

Logan didn’t move, he just stood there staring at them, wondering why people are this cruel and wicked.

He had always suffered this kind of ill treatment from people who feel they are better than others, however now that he was no longer the Logan he was yesterday, he would make sure to teach these kinds of people a lesson.

The cashier tried the card again, but still the card declined.

The blonde-haired lady folded her arms. “This is embarrassing. Imagine coming into a luxury boutique with a fake card. Disgusting.”

Before Logan could speak, there was a beep and the card suddenly went through.

“Transaction approved.”

Seeing this, the cashier froze and her mouth suddenly fell wide open. The blonde-haired woman on the other hand took a step back in disbelief.

They never thought Logan could afford those clothes. Not even a single pair. They were just waiting for the card to fail multiple times so they could ridicule him for all to see.

The black-haired lady gasped. “Oh… my God.”

The whole boutique went silent at this point, no one uttered a word, if a pin were to hit the ground right now, the sound would be easily detected.

Logan looked at the cashier calmly. His eyes beaming with pride “Are we done now?”

She swallowed hard, stuttering. “Y… yes…”

Logan smirked, he then took out his phone and dialed Robert. “Come inside.”

Within seconds, Robert walked in with three more men in black suits behind him. They stood straight and then bowed before Logan.

“Young master,” they greeted.

Everyone in the boutique went pale seeing this, Especially the blonde-haired lady and the cashier. They couldn't believe their eyes, their legs shook as they stared at Logan.

One thought rang through all of their minds.

Just who is this man?.

The air was suddenly filled with whispers as everyone seemed to find their voices all of a sudden. The black-haired lady covered her mouth in shock.

Logan smiled and then turned to her. “What’s your name?”

“Diana,” she replied softly. Her fingers, fidgeting with her work uniform.

Logan nodded. Then he asked for her account details which she gave to him, in no time he made a transfer to her account.

“This is twenty thousand dollars. It’s for you.” Logan muttered to Diana, loud enough for everyone to hear.

Diana’s eyes widened as she couldn't believe her ears. “Twenty thousand?? For… for what?”

“For treating me with respect,” Logan said. “And because good people deserve good things.”

The onlookers gasped loudly, they clearly couldn't believe their eyes.

A man who had walked in here looking so ordinary and poor had just settled an expensive bill close to a million dollars, had some men call him young master and also wired twenty thousand dollars to a worker like it was the most ordinary thing to do.

At this point they all really wanted to know who Logan was and probably get on his good side.

They knew they had fumbled already, however they still didn't want this opportunity to pass them by, but of course it was too late to cry when the head was off.

Logan continued, “Also, bring your documents to one of the Lancaster companies tomorrow. You will get a new job. A better one with high pay.”

Diana’s eyes were suddenly filled with tears as she fell to her knees. “Thank you… thank you so much, sir. I don’t know what to say, I don't know what I did to deserve all of this”

“You don’t need to say anything,” Logan replied simply, a small smile playing on his lips. “Just continue being kind.”

With that, he turned and walked out with Robert and the other men following behind him. The blonde-haired lady and the cashier stood frozen, unable to move or speak.

Inside the car, Robert finally asked, “Young master, if I may ask. How come the card wasn’t working before?”

Logan smiled slowly.

“Because,” he said, leaning back in his seat, “I delayed it on purpose. I wanted to teach those ladies a hard lesson.”

After leaving the boutique, the car moved smoothly through the wide city road. The world outside the window looked different to Logan now, the tall buildings, the clean streets, the people walking confidently, Logan knew he was definitely going to love this new life. Who wouldn’t?.After a few moments of silence, Robert turned slightly to face Logan.“Young master,” the words left his mouth respectfully, “We will be heading to the Lancaster mansion now.”Logan, who was staring out of the window, slowly shifted his gaze back to Robert.“No,” Logan said calmly.Robert blinked in surprise. “Sir?”“Take me to my apartment first,” Logan said. “I want to pick up some of my things. And I want to change into one of these outfits.” Robert studied him for a brief second, then nodded without question. “Understood, Young master.” The name youngmaster was so quick to sleep out of the mouths of these men, and somehow Logan didn't really find it appealing. He was already contemplating whether to

  • CHAPTER 5 : The Boutique

The moment Logan entered the hotel room, he felt as if he had stepped into another world. The room was wide, bright, and beautifully arranged with a large bed in the center, a long glass window overlooking the city, and soft white lights that filled the entire space. The air conditioning unit hummed gently, blowing cool air all over the room.Logan stood there for a few seconds, staring. He had never been inside a place like this before. Though he had been to a couple of hotels, he had never been to a five star hotel. He had only visited the lower grades and mostly inns and motels. Logan moved slowly, as though he was afraid touching anything would make it disappear. He placed his small bag on a chair and walked into the bathroom. The bathroom alone looked like something from a rich man’s video, the walls were made of glass, white tiles, silver faucets, and a shower that probably cost more than his entire apartment.Logan turned on the shower and warm water burst out. He stepped i

  • CHAPTER 4 : Mr. Logan Lancaster

The ride to the hotel was quiet.Logan sat in the back seat, still trying to process everything that had happened. His fingers brushed over the gold-stamped envelope in his pocket, and every now and then he looked out the window, watching the city lights blur past. His life was about to change, these words echoed in his head over and over. One of the men in black suits sitting beside him finally spoke. His voice was calm but respectful.“Young master, Pa Lancaster ordered that you spend the night at one of the Lancaster five-star hotels in this area,” the man said. “That is where we are heading now.”Logan nodded slightly, still overwhelmed. “Alright, thank you.”“You will be taken good care of,” the man added. “Tomorrow morning, we will return to take you to a boutique for new clothes. Everything has already been arranged.”Logan nodded again. “Thank you. I appreciate it.”The man dipped his head. “It is our duty, young master.”After a short drive, they turned into a grand entranc

  • CHAPTER 3 : The Hidden Truth

Logan sat down slowly, his palms slightly sweaty as he wrapped his fingers around the glass of wine in front of him. He didn’t lift it to his lips. His throat was too tight for that. Instead, he kept his eyes on the elderly man across the table. The old man’s presence was calm, almost soothing. But for Logan, nothing about this moment felt calm. Everything happening was strange. It was like he was in a movie or dream. The elderly man placed the wine bottle down carefully and leaned back, studying Logan with quiet, gentle eyes.“You must have a lot of questions,” the man said, his voice deep and controlled.Logan nodded immediately. “I do. So many questions.” His voice cracked slightly. “Why did the man in suit who brought me here call me Young Master?.” The man from earlier had mentioned that he was taking Logan to Pa Lancaster and if he was correct then this man in front of him should be him. And this meant that he was the one who sent the letter and the money. “Why did you sen

  • CHAPTER 2 : Young Master

Logan stood on the spot looking shocked and astonished, his eyes still glued to the phone. He then robbed his eyes with his left hand, wondering if he was seeing clearly or maybe his eyes were just deceiving him. The credit alert was still bold on his screen. “What is this?” He muttered, unsure if this was real or probably a prank. In the past, people had complained of getting these kinds of messages, only to find out that it was all just a mere prank. Logan went on to cross-check the bank name, and it was indeed from his bank. “This can't be real, This is probably a prank or something”. With this thought in mind, Logan walked into the house, his mind was still occupied.300million dollars was no small money, it wasn't the kind of money that can be transferred into one's account by mistake. How would anyone make such a mistake? All Logan could think of was the fact that this was a prank and he wasn't the type who fell for pranks like this. He had other pressing issues on his mi
