“People like him can't afford even a button here”

The words rang over and over in Logan's head. If he had been the Logan of two days ago, then probably he would have sunken by now, running as far as he could to go wallow in his misery.

But he wasn't that Logan anymore, was he?. Of course not, he was a different man now, words like this would only itch in his ears and nothing more.

Logan smirked and looked away, as if it was a mere fly that had just made a sound.

“Please stop,” the black-haired lady said firmly to the blonde. “Don’t talk like that.”

Hearing this, Logan didn’t respond. He ignored the blonde and continued choosing clothes, he would not let any of this get to him.

He picked shirts, trousers, jackets, suits, everything he liked. He gathered them all and walked toward the counter.

Unfortunately, the blonde-haired lady’s friend was the cashier behind the counter.

The moment Logan put the clothes down, the cashier smirked and whispered to the blonde, who laughed out loud.

“So he’s actually buying?” the cashier said mockingly. “Wow. This will be fun.”

Logan ignored their mockery, he took out his card and placed it on the counter.

“Here,” he said calmly.

The cashier stared at him for a while, then she ran the card, but it declined.

Seeing this, her eyes squeezed with disdain and then she burst into a mocking laughter. “I knew it! You can’t afford anything here!”

“Try again,” Logan said.

She did and it declined again.

Her smile grew wider and so did her patience grow thin. “Should I call security? Or will you leave peacefully?”

Her voice was loud so the people nearby turned their heads, watching what was unfolding in the boutique.

The black-haired lady quickly rushed forward. “Sir, please… don’t take any of this to heart. Not everyone is like them. Just, ignore their words.”

“It’s fine,” Logan said softly.

He always knew that there would definitely be people like this everywhere, evil people who derive joy in hating the poor even when they themselves are not doing so well.

It was more of a way to console themselves by pointing out people they were a little better than and humiliating them afterwards.

The cashier rolled her eyes. “Please. Stop pretending. You don’t have money, leave the clothes and get out.”

Logan didn’t move, he just stood there staring at them, wondering why people are this cruel and wicked.

He had always suffered this kind of ill treatment from people who feel they are better than others, however now that he was no longer the Logan he was yesterday, he would make sure to teach these kinds of people a lesson.

The cashier tried the card again, but still the card declined.

The blonde-haired lady folded her arms. “This is embarrassing. Imagine coming into a luxury boutique with a fake card. Disgusting.”

Before Logan could speak, there was a beep and the card suddenly went through.

“Transaction approved.”

Seeing this, the cashier froze and her mouth suddenly fell wide open. The blonde-haired woman on the other hand took a step back in disbelief.

They never thought Logan could afford those clothes. Not even a single pair. They were just waiting for the card to fail multiple times so they could ridicule him for all to see.

The black-haired lady gasped. “Oh… my God.”

The whole boutique went silent at this point, no one uttered a word, if a pin were to hit the ground right now, the sound would be easily detected.

Logan looked at the cashier calmly. His eyes beaming with pride “Are we done now?”

She swallowed hard, stuttering. “Y… yes…”

Logan smirked, he then took out his phone and dialed Robert. “Come inside.”

Within seconds, Robert walked in with three more men in black suits behind him. They stood straight and then bowed before Logan.

“Young master,” they greeted.

Everyone in the boutique went pale seeing this, Especially the blonde-haired lady and the cashier. They couldn't believe their eyes, their legs shook as they stared at Logan.

One thought rang through all of their minds.

Just who is this man?.

The air was suddenly filled with whispers as everyone seemed to find their voices all of a sudden. The black-haired lady covered her mouth in shock.

Logan smiled and then turned to her. “What’s your name?”

“Diana,” she replied softly. Her fingers, fidgeting with her work uniform.

Logan nodded. Then he asked for her account details which she gave to him, in no time he made a transfer to her account.

“This is twenty thousand dollars. It’s for you.” Logan muttered to Diana, loud enough for everyone to hear.

Diana’s eyes widened as she couldn't believe her ears. “Twenty thousand?? For… for what?”

“For treating me with respect,” Logan said. “And because good people deserve good things.”

The onlookers gasped loudly, they clearly couldn't believe their eyes.

A man who had walked in here looking so ordinary and poor had just settled an expensive bill close to a million dollars, had some men call him young master and also wired twenty thousand dollars to a worker like it was the most ordinary thing to do.

At this point they all really wanted to know who Logan was and probably get on his good side.

They knew they had fumbled already, however they still didn't want this opportunity to pass them by, but of course it was too late to cry when the head was off.

Logan continued, “Also, bring your documents to one of the Lancaster companies tomorrow. You will get a new job. A better one with high pay.”

Diana’s eyes were suddenly filled with tears as she fell to her knees. “Thank you… thank you so much, sir. I don’t know what to say, I don't know what I did to deserve all of this”

“You don’t need to say anything,” Logan replied simply, a small smile playing on his lips. “Just continue being kind.”

With that, he turned and walked out with Robert and the other men following behind him. The blonde-haired lady and the cashier stood frozen, unable to move or speak.

*** ***

Inside the car, Robert finally asked, “Young master, if I may ask. How come the card wasn’t working before?”

Logan smiled slowly.

“Because,” he said, leaning back in his seat, “I delayed it on purpose. I wanted to teach those ladies a hard lesson.”

"Nicholas," Logan called out, breathing hard. "I need a distraction. Anything, whether noise, fire, whatever you have. Just draw its attention upward."Nicholas looked at Rob and Tom. Rob for the first time had no smirk on his face. He just nodded and then Rob and Tom both opened up with their rifles, firing at the creature's face, targeting mostly its eyes and horns. This was actually done not to wound it but to make it look up. This wood serves as a distraction. The distraction logan needed. And It worked. The creature turned its head up toward the shots, its arms coming up instinctively to shield its face.Seeing the opportunity, Logan ran, He went straight at it again, pulled the sword back with both hands, and this time when he drove it forward he put every bit of force Greg had trained into him behind it. The blade punched through the sternum. Logan felt it break through something solid and then hit something softer behind it.Immediately this happened, the creature went com

  • CHAPTER 56 : The Forest Guardian 1

Nicholas was at Logan's side before the roar had even finished echoing through the trees."Commander." His voice was low and he was breathing a little too hard. "Your orders."Logan had his eyes on the creature, he could see that the creature hadn't moved towards them, it just stood at the edge of the clearing, its crimson eyes sweeping slowly across the soldiers. Logan gritted his teeth, he knew that if he wanted to beat this thing, then he would have to work smart rather than hard, fighting a creature as large as this doesn't require brute strength as it would definitely fail. So he began racking his brain, he thought about the layout, the clearing and how to command his soldier properly that would eventually yield good results. "Split them," Logan said. "Two flanks. Fifty on the left, fifty on the right. I want fire coming at it from both sides at the same time. Nothing from the front, that's where I'll be."Nicholas didn't question it. "And the five of us?""Rob, Tom and Jeffery

  • CHAPTER 55 : The Forest Of Fallen Kings.

One moment he was in the white room and the next moment Logan saw himself in a different place. After stepping through the portal, he had been completely teleported to a strange environment.Right now, Logan stood completely still for a moment, just taking in where he was.He was standing in a forest so thick and dense that it felt like the trees had been growing for a thousand years. The trunks were massive, wider than cars, their bark was dark and rough. The branches reached out in every direction and Logan could see that the leaves above were fucking huge, spreading out like canopies that blocked almost everything above. Just how did this reality come to be?Logan was wowed. There was no sunlight coming through those thick shades. Not like there was any sunlight high in the sky anyway, it was just a grey sky sitting flat and heavy above the dense forest. Logan turned slowly, looking around. There was no sign of Damon. He hadn't expected Damin to be here anyway. Both portals had

  • CHAPTER 54 : The Trial Begins

The boardroom looked the same as the last time, Logan could see the curved walls and circular table with the family names etched above each cluster of seats. Von Peters stood at the center, hands clasped behind his back, as his eyes moved all around every body. About Von Peters, ligan had asked his grandfather who exactly are the keepers. Pa Lancaster had explained that the keepers are a neutral family who are in charge of upholding and implementing the laws that governs all of the family. And this had explained to Logan how von seems to know everything and why it looked like he was in charge and at the same time not. Logan actually found the role of the keepers cool. Right now, Logan sat beside Pa Lancaster in the Lancaster section. Robert wasn't there today. It was just the two of them. This was because Logan wanted Robert to be at LFH at all times, he needed something. One to watch over Arielle while he was away. Honestly he had no idea how long the whole trial would take, t

  • CHAPTER 53 : Last Day Of Training

"You're thinking," Greg said. "Stop thinking. Your body knows this. Trust it."The truth was Logan's mind seemed to be distracted, he didn't know why, but at the middle of the fight his mind has gone to Arielle.
