When Ethan opened his eyes, he immediately realized the ceiling was not the same as the one in his hostel.

The lights were brighter, and the air smelled differently.

Standing before him was a doctor checking his pulse with a stethoscope. Beside him stood a man in his mid-fifties, looking tense, and three hefty men who appeared to be his bodyguards. They stood with folded arms, their gazes locked on Ethan.

“Ah… my head!” Ethan groaned, holding it tightly. “Where am I?”

He tried to sit up, but his whole body hurt, forcing him back onto the bed.

“Don’t try to get up yet,” the doctor said gently, leaning closer to check his pupils with a penlight. “You’ll be fine.”

He turned to the man beside him.

“He’s still weak. He sustained minor injuries but lost a lot of blood. He’ll need a blood transfusion immediately.”

“Doctor, please check mine,” the man said quickly, his brows ridged with anxiety. “If it’s a match, I’ll donate.”

“Oh… my ribs!” Ethan cried out, attempting to touch his side, his face tightening in pain.

“Doctor, did the accident affect his ribs? Or even his spinal cord?” the man asked urgently. “I just want to be sure, so you start treatment immediately. I don’t want him having complications at this young age because of me. I couldn’t live with that guilt.”

The doctor gave a small reassuring smile.

“Calm down, sir. You were lucky enough, the accident didn’t cause much damage. His rib pain isn’t from the accident. In fact, he must have been injured before he was hit. Possibly a fight. That likely caused the internal bleeding.”

Ethan looked away immediately.

His jaw tightened as memories of the fight with Ryan flooded back. He had already decided not to involve anyone in his problems, that's why he sent James and Michael away. They must be searching for him by now.

“Did you get into a fight?” the man asked softly, sitting beside him and holding his arm. “I know I hit you, and I’m grateful it wasn’t worse. But I need to understand what happened. I saw you holding one side of your stomach, limping while crossing, before the accident.”

As he held Ethan’s arm, his eyes fell on a mark on Ethan’s left hand.

He paused.

The mark looked strangely familiar.

But he waved the thought away.

“Doctor,” he said firmly, standing up, “let’s check if I’m fit to donate so we can proceed.”

“Alright, sir. Come with me.”

Few minutes later, the doctor came out with a smiling face. “Your blood type is a perfect match,” the doctor said. “We’ll prepare the transfusion immediately.”

Daniel exhaled in relief.

“And doctor… I want you to run a DNA test as well.”

The doctor blinked in surprise. “May I ask why?”

“Just grant me this favor.”

After a brief pause, the doctor nodded. “Consider it done.”

“Thank you.”

They shook hands and the transfusion process began. A nurse carefully inserted an IV line into his arm to collect blood into a sterile donation bag.

After screening and preparation, the blood was connected through another IV line into Ethan’s vein.

Ethan watched silently, realizing this man had just donated his blood to save him.

He knew he was dealing with someone wealthy, powerful, but he couldn’t place exactly who he was. It was rare to find good rich people like him.

When the transfusion was ongoing, Ethan began narrating what happened between him and Ryan, and how deeply betrayed he felt by his girlfriend.

The man listened quietly. He felt something stir inside him…sympathy and anger.

“What’s your name?” he asked gently, his eyes drifting again to the mark on Ethan’s hand.

“Ethan,” he coughed lightly. “Ethan Carter.”

“I am Daniel Wilson. Chairman of Wilson’s Empire.”

At the mention of that name, Ethan straightened slightly despite the weakness. His eyes widened as recognition dawned on him.

Daniel Wilson. A well known billionaire.

A name that dominated business headlines.

Ethan scanned him from head to toe. The expensive classic shoes, the tailored suit, the calm authority in his posture. Wealth radiated from him effortlessly.

“Nice to meet you, sir,” Ethan said nervously.

Daniel gave a small nod.

“Relax,” Daniel said calmly. “Everything will be alright.”

Ethan gave a faint smile.

Daniel’s eyes drifted once more to the mark.

“What’s this on your hand?”

“Oh, this?” Ethan lifted it slightly. “It’s been there since birth.”

“Since birth?” Daniel repeated.

“Yes.”

Daniel’s heartbeat quickened slightly.

“What about your parents?”

“I was raised by my mother,” Ethan replied quietly. “But she’s dead now.”

His voice tightened.

Suddenly, he sat up a little and looked directly at Daniel.

“Why are you asking me all these questions?”

Daniel didn’t answer.

Instead, he slowly lifted his own left hand.

It was the same scar. Same position.

It was a hereditary mark in the Wilson family, passed down only to direct heirs.

His breathing grew shallow.

“Yes… I thought so,” he murmured inwardly.

Twenty-three years ago, Linda, his beloved wife, had given birth to a beautiful baby boy.

Linda often spoke about how dangerous Daniel’s world was. She didn’t want their child dragged into it. One day, when Daniel stepped out briefly to get something she needed, he returned to an empty house.

She was gone.Gone without a trace.

He searched everywhere. Hired investigators. Used every connection he had. Still nothing. That was the last day he set his eyes on his new born baby

Daniel pulled out his phone and showed Ethan a picture. “Is this your mother?”

Ethan’s eyes widened instantly.

“Yes! Yes, that’s her!” His eyes turned red with emotion. “How do you know her? Who are you? Have you met her before?”

“Who is your father?” Daniel asked instead, studying Ethan’s face closely.

Ethan resembled him.

“She never told me,” Ethan replied bitterly. “Whenever I asked, she would cry.”

Daniel lowered his gaze.

He held Ethan’s hand again, studying him as though afraid he might disappear.

“Sir… why are you staring at me like that? You’ve not answered any of my questions.” Ethan said nervously.

Daniel forced a small smile and released his hand. “Get some rest.”

Less than forty eight hours later, the DNA results were ready.

“Daniel Wilson… I have good news.”

“The DNA result is 99.8% positive.”

For a long moment, Daniel said nothing.

Twenty-three years of loss. It felt so unreal.

Maybe he paid the manager to help him embarrass us.”Celeb scratched the back of his neck.“But Ryan… Mr Jones slapped the security man because of him.”Ryan’s jaw tightened. “Actors can slap too.”The security man suddenly rushed forward, panic written all over his face.“Sir… please… please help me talk to him,” he begged Ryan.

This loser here has nothing to offer.”“Can you all just stop?” Zara said quickly, her voice firm now. “Whether it's fake or not, it's my gift and I love it like that. It's high time everyone minds their business. And hey, I didn’t invite you here, so don’t come here causing trouble.”Ryan’s eyes darkened.“Are you talking to me like this because of this loser?
