"Killed?" Isaiah repeated, trying to see if the man had somehow meant to say something else.

"Yes," he said, taking a little look at Elena still standing by the entrance. "The seal on the back of the phone is for you to signal bounty hunters that you are under our protection and should not be killed. I suggest that if you want to keep your woman by your side, you'd be on your best behavior, capeesh?"

Isaiah nodded his head. He had absolutely no choice.

"Now enjoy your date and the food," the waiter said, walking away. "You're also free to leave if you want. We will keep in touch, regardless." He winked at Elena in a flirty way as he walked away. She rolled her eyes, expecting the man's behavior.

Isaiah fell into his seat. He did not know if he should feel relieved that he was now allowed to live in the vicinity or not.

Elena took her seat just right opposite him. He saw her through tired and weary eyes.

"So how did it go?" Elena asked. "What did the waiter say?"

Isaiah picked the call up immediately as he saw who was calling. "Did you forget, Isaiah?" The voice from the other end of the call asked. Jenny found the voice familiar. "You're supposed to be here.""I'll be there soon, Elena," Isaiah said, hanging up."Elena?" Jenny asked. "Who is she?"Isaiah stood up. "I'm sorry, Jenny," he said. "But I really have to go now.""Let me guess," Jenny said, obviously perturbed, "you have one of your meetings to attend, don't you?""Yes," he replied, breathless and already walking away, leaving Jenny behind.Soon he was gone and Jenny was alone on the bench. She felt lonely and abandoned, watching him leave her like that with very minimal explanations on where he was going to."I'm so sorry, Jenny," Isaiah said, already regretting his actions as he boarded a taxi. "Take me to the beach," he said."Okey dokey," the driver replied.Isaiah arrived at the beach. It was almost dark once again. He tried to call Elena but she did not pick up the calls. "O

"Should I tell them?" Isaiah asked himself, strolling down a hallway with a bag flung across his shoulder, deep in thought. He shook his head, and although he did not know it, there were quite a number of people who had noticed that he was talking to himself."No," he said again. "Jackson would just freak out, and Luke might really just hate me. What do I do?" Just then, he realized that he had the system to help him out."System," he called out. "Good day, Isaiah," the system said, waking up from its sleep.""Oh, now you can talk," Isaiah chastised. "Why did you ignore me yesterday? I was stuck in a very dangerous situation and you just ignored me. What if I died?""I am just an advanced, ethereal machine made to help you become who you actually are," the system said, as robotic as it had always sounded. "Saving you from troubles you brought upon yourself is of no concern to me. That is your punishment for failing to follow through with a tax assigned to you before. Whatever would

Luke turned around to see if there was anyone around. He knew that Walter and his gang would not let him pass, and he had neither the time nor the strength to fight them."Okay, Walter," he said, raising his hands up. "What do you want from me?"Walter chuckled. "Don't you know already? I want to know what happened yesterday. It seems some strange men came to school, and once again it is connected to your friend, Isaiah.""And so what about it?" Luke nudged to the side. "What do you want to know?""Are you playing dumb or what?" Walter asked angrily. "Who were those men? Tell me. You must know something about them. You can't be that close to Isaiah without knowing the things he does."Luke raised his brow. "I have two questions. Why are you so interested in Isaiah? And two, why do you think I know anything about the men who came in yesterday?""I don't have to answer your first question," Walter scoffed. "As for your second, isn't it obvious? Is he not your friend anymore? Are you lit

That night, Isaiah could not sleep. And his friends Luke and Jackson were equally worried. Alan had not come in the room yet, despite the fact that the time was already so close to when the gate to the dorm was going to be closed.Isaiah laid down on the bed, his body stretched across it, with the phone lying right on his chest, his eyes wandering from side to side like the flashlight of a wanderer in the night."So Isaiah, you're not going to tell us what exactly is going on now?" Jackson asked, leaning against the wall, with legs across each other as he sat on the bed."We are getting worried about your well-being, Isaiah," Luke began. "What's happening to you, really, that you can't let us know? I mean, look at yourself right now. If you can take a glimpse of the mirror, do it and tell me then what exactly you look like. If that seems like a person that is normal to you.""Luke, you're pushing this so far," Jackson reprimanded. "I don't think you have to talk like that.""I think w

Elena did not flinch. Rather, she cocked her head to the side, eyes staring at Isaiah rather widely. "Why did you stop?" she asked."Sorry, the problem is that I don't know if I can tell you," Isaiah said, still shaking."Shh..." Elena hushed, holding his hands. "Don't worry, you can tell me anything. I'll be sure to listen. What's going on? Tell me."Isaiah felt suddenly calmer. It seemed as though it was by magic. His heartbeatslowed down, and his breath steadied."Thank you," he said, looking at her, a smile drawing across his face. Elena smiled back. "Now tell me, what's happening?""Do you know of the Gambino family?" Isaiah asked."I think I've heard about them across this city," she replied, cocking her head once again. "What does this have to do with them?""I am on their watch list," Isaiah finally revealed. "I...I had a little run-in with them a few days back. My friend was kidnapped and I had to get her back. In order to do that, I was made to do a lot of terrible things
