Three days had passed since the kidnapping. Celia and her parents were released from the hospital with instructions to rest and recover at home. Damon had stayed with them the entire time, refusing to leave Celia's side even for a moment.

Now they sat in Detective Morrison's office at the police station. Serena had been brought in for official questioning, and Damon had insisted on being present.

"Are you sure you want to be here for this?" Morrison asked Damon. "It might be difficult to control your anger."

"Don't worry about that, detective. I need to hear it," Damon replied firmly. "I need to understand why she thought killing innocent people was acceptable."

Morrison nodded and pressed the button on the intercom. "Bring in Miss Vance."

Two officers led Serena into the room in handcuffs. She had bandages on her arms and a cut on her forehead from the van crash. But her eyes immediately locked onto Damon with desperate hope.

"Damon!" Serena said, trying to move toward him. The offic

Damon walked out of the hospital and found Anthony waiting for him in the parking lot, leaning against his car."How did it go?" Anthony asked."About as well as could be expected," Damon replied. "Edward understands I'm not forgiving him, but he's grateful for the chance to live.""And how do you feel about all of this?"Damon leaned against the car beside Anthony. "Honestly? I don't know. Part of me still wants to let him die. But the bigger part knows that's not who I want to be.""You're doing the right thing," Anthony assured him. "Even if it's difficult."Damon's phone rang. He pulled it out and saw Vivienne's name on the screen. He hadn't spoken to her since before the kidnapping happened."Hello, Vivienne.""Damon!" Her voice sounded relieved. "I've been trying to reach you for days. I heard about what happened with Celia and her parents. Are they okay?""They're safe now. We're all recovering.""Thank god. I was so worried when I saw the news. Is there anything I can do to he

Two weeks had passed and Damon stood outside his father's hospital room, staring at the closed door. He'd been avoiding this moment, putting it off day after day, but he couldn't delay any longer.Anthony appeared beside him, placing a supportive hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to do this if you're not ready.""I am ready," Damon said, though his voice didn't sound convinced. "I've made my decision. I'm going to save him.""I'm proud of you for this," Anthony said. "It takes a strong person to help someone who hurt them so deeply."Damon took a deep breath and pushed open the door. Edward lay in the hospital bed looking even worse than the last time Damon had seen him. His skin was gray, his breathing shallow, and machines beeped steadily around him monitoring his failing organs.Arthur sat in the chair beside the bed. He stood up immediately when Damon entered. "Mr. Damon. Good morning."Damon walked closer to the bed and looked down at his father's unconscious face."The docto

The hospital waiting room was filled with police officers, medical staff rushing back and forth, and the sound of Serena's voice still screaming from somewhere down the hallway where they were treating her injuries. Damon sat in a chair with his head bandaged, holding an ice pack against his bruised ribs. The doctors had checked him over and confirmed nothing was broken, just badly bruised. He refused to leave until he knew Celia and her parents were okay. Detective Morrison approached with his notepad. "Mr. Sterling, I need to get your full statement about what happened tonight." "Where's Celia?" Damon asked immediately. "Is she okay?" "Miss Greene is being examined in room three. She has cuts and bruises but nothing serious. Her mother is with her." "And her father?" Morrison's expression became more serious. "Mr. Greene lost a lot of blood from the head wound. They're working on him now. The doctors say he should recover, but they want to keep him here for observation." Damo

"Mr. Sterling, fall back," Detective Morrison's voice crackled through the radio. "You're too close. If they brake suddenly, you'll crash into them." "I'm not falling back," Damon replied, his jaw set with determination. The van was directly ahead of him now, close enough that he could see the terror on the faces of the people inside through the back windows. He pulled his car into the left lane and started accelerating even more, moving alongside the van. The younger man in the passenger seat looked over and his eyes widened when he saw Damon's car pulling up beside them. "He's trying to get in front of us," the younger man shouted at Brick. Brick glanced over and saw Damon's determined face through the window. "Hold on!" He jerked the steering wheel to the left, trying to force Damon's car off the road. The van slammed into the side of Damon's vehicle with a loud crash. Damon's car swerved dangerously but he managed to keep control. He gritted his teeth and pushed forward, re

Damon’s car came to a sudden stop at the construction site entrance, followed immediately by Detective Morrison's vehicle and three patrol cars. Officers jumped out with their weapons drawn, flashlights cutting through the darkness. "Spread out and search the area," Morrison commanded. "They might still be here." Damon was already running toward the main building, his heart pounding. He burst through the doorway and swept his flashlight across the empty concrete space. "Celia!" he shouted. "Celia, are you here?" Nothing. The building was completely empty. But Damon could see signs that people had been here recently. Scuff marks on the floor, disturbed dust, and something that made his blood run cold—small drops of blood on the concrete. "Detective Morrison!" Damon called out. "There's blood here!" Morrison ran inside and examined the scene. "They were definitely here. But it looks like they left in a hurry." Another officer appeared at the doorway. "Detective, we found a car p
