The silence in the luxury car was heavy as they drove away from the bitter scene at the Vance mansion.

Celia stared out at the passing cars, but all she could see in her mind was Serena’s furious eyes, filled with hatred that broke the last ties to their childhood memories.

“I am so incredibly sorry, Damon, for not listening to you earlier when you tried to warn me about them,” Celia whispered, her voice barely louder than the quiet hum of the engine.

“You were right about everything. I was foolish to let my compassion for an old friendship cloud my judgment, and put you in that position.”

“You have nothing to apologize for, Celia,” Damon said, his voice soft and reassuring as he glanced at her with genuine warmth. “Wanting to believe in the good in people isn’t a weakness.

That kindness is who you are; the very thing I’ve been searching for my whole life. But you need to understand, not everyone deserves it.”

A single tear slid down Celia’s cheek as she finally turned to face him,

“It’s been hours already, Officer, and I’m telling you, if you don’t arrest that Damon right now, you’re making a mistake you’ll regret for the rest of your life,” Lucas said, his voice sharp and steady as he leaned across the counter toward the senior officer.“We’ve reviewed the evidence, Mr. Sterling,” the officer replied calmly. “What we have clearly shows you were the one who initiated the damage to Mr. Damon’s car, and that you threatened him first.”“That’s ridiculous,” Lucas shot back, his jaw tightening. “You think I would go out of my way to hit someone else’s worthless car for no reason? This man assaulted me, broke my car, and you’re standing here acting like I’m the one in the wrong?”The officer didn’t flinch. “The security footage tells a very different story from what you’re claiming. We’ve seen it, and it matches Mr. Damon’s account completely.”Lucas scoffed, shaking his head. “You really expect me to believe a man like him has nothing to hide? Do you even know who I

When Damon stopped the car in front of the Greene residence, Celia could already see her parents waiting near the door, their expressions filled with worry. Mrs. Greene stepped forward immediately, her voice firm but tinged with relief as she looked at both of them. “Thank you so much, Damon, for bringing her home safely tonight. We were worried sick not knowing where she was or what had happened to her.”Mr. Greene’s eyes were equally sharp as he glanced at his daughter. “Celia, we were about to call everyone we knew when you left hurriedly earlier and didn’t answer. Where exactly did you go in such a hurry?”Celia took a careful breath, meeting their eyes with a mix of guilt and hesitation. “Serena's mother called me and told me Serena needed my help urgently. She made it sound serious, so I went without thinking twice.”Mrs. Greene crossed her arms, her voice stern. “And you didn’t think to call us or let anyone know before you ran off into whatever mess that was?”“I didn’t want

Damon listened to their ridiculous, empty threats with a chillingly calm expression that only seemed to infuriate Michael and Tessa even more.“So, you’re pinning all your hopes for revenge on some mysterious, powerful woman you’ve only just met,” Damon said calmly, his voice a low murmur that cut through their smug excitement.“And you really believe this woman, who you claim can destroy companies with a single phone call; would waste her time helping you settle a petty grudge against me?”“It’s not a petty grudge when you’ve publicly humiliated my daughter’s future husband and dragged her name through the mud,” Tessa spat, her face contorted with fury.“The powerful woman you mock is Vivienne Ashford; an heiress from Sydney whose family holds more influence than a parasite like you could ever begin to understand.”Damon didn’t look the least bit shocked. He had known from the start they were talking about Vivienne, and he merely scoffed.“Vivienne Ashford will see you for the trash

Just before Damon stepped out of his car, he called Celia one last time, desperate to know why she didn’t answer earlier. Maybe they had scared her. Maybe they told her not to pick up. This was his chance to find out what was going on, by calling her and watching the scene closely to see what they’d say or do to her. "If that's Damon calling, darling Celia," Tessa's voice sliced through the night air like a blade, "don't you dare answer that phone." Michael's smug smile widened with satisfaction. "Listen to her, Celia. You don't need that parasite. You were seconds away from making the smart choice, apologizing just like someone like you should.” "Yes, crawl on your knees and beg forgiveness," Tessa purred with venomous delight. "Michael will graciously cover your pathetic taxi fare, and I'll personally escort you to see Serena." Celia stood paralyzed, her pulse hammering a frantic rhythm against her throat. The phone’s shrill ringing pierced the silence. She was crumbling, rea

Damon gripped the steering wheel tighter, his knuckles white against the black leather. He stepped harder on the gas pedal. "Come on, Anthony," he muttered, checking the time again. "Why aren’t you saying anything?"He had been driving aimlessly for twenty minutes, waiting for the call that would tell him where Celia was. Every red light felt like torture. Every minute that passed made the knot in his stomach grow tighter. His mind kept drifting to possibilities he didn't want to think about. What if she was hurt? What if someone had taken her? What if—No. He shook his head hard. He couldn't think like that. But then another thought crept in. Vivienne. What if Celia had gone to see her? The idea made his blood run cold."No way," he said out loud. "She wouldn't. Why would she?""She can't go to Vivienne," he told himself firmly. "She doesn't even know where to find her. And even if she did, why would she? Did Vivienne somehow reach Celia, just to ask questions and feed that probing
