The atmosphere froze, Elena staring at Ron and Hera with a pale face. However, the car behind them started to honk repeatedly.

“What’s going on?” A sharp and grating voice echoed, the door was pushed open and a man stepped out. Dressed in a flashy suit, the eldest son of the West family, Nathan felt he had the world under his nose.

“What’s the meaning of this, Elena? Did you keep me waiting in the car to talk to a man?” He marched toward her, his hands balling into fists.

In the next second, he raised his hand to hit her but she quickly took a step back.

“I apologize!” She said, her voice shaking while she bowed. “I will handle this, sir. Just give me a minute.”

“A minute?” Nathan scoffed. “Do you know how much a minute of my time costs? You paupers can’t even afford to pay that and yet you dare me—”

“How much does it cost?” Ron’s deep voice cut through, dominating the air. His brows were furrowed, as he couldn't conceal his displeasure with Nathan. He had dealt with such people in prison, and this man was nothing before him.

“What…” Nathan stuttered, his eyes blinking in disbelief. “Are you speaking to me? You dare to speak before me?”

“Yes, I do.” Ron nodded, taking a step closer to Nathan, his gaze shooting daggers. “If you can’t wait a minute then you should get the hell out of here. This woman isn’t your slave whom you can hit just because you want to.”

Tension rose in the air, and Elena’s mouth gaped open as she saw Ron defend her. However, she was scared for him, knowing just how wicked Nathan was. They both would only end up in trouble.

On the other hand, Nathan was breathing hard, his face had turned red with his blood boiling.

“What if I hit her? I bought her!” He yelled. “How dare you tell me what to do, you poor bastard!”

“You bought her?” Ron frowned, unable to believe what he was hearing.

“Yes, I did.” Nathan cackled. “Do you know how much I spent? Have you ever seen 10 million dollars in your whole life?”

“Let me tell you, Elena is my slave and I can do whatever I want to her.” He grinned wickedly, his hands twitching like a maniac while he turned to her with the sleaziest smile ever. “Isn’t that so, Elena!”

“Ye…yes…” Elena bowed but tears already clouded her eyes. She felt so embarrassed to be displayed as a possession.

On the other hand, Ron wasn't naive to know things as these were happening. However, what situation did Elena get into and how?

“If that is the case then…” He took a deep breath to decide. “I will buy her. Double the price. What do you say?”

The air froze, Elena’s eyes bulging in shock and shame but Ron shot her a reassuring look. He couldn't let the mother of his child continue to suffer. He was going to put an end to her suffering. But then….

“Haha…” A mocking laugh echoed in the air. Nathan held his burly belly while slapping his thighs. “You? You want to pay 20 million dollars for her?”

“Yes.” Ron nodded.

“Have you seen yourself?” Nathan sneered. “Even my security guards are better dressed than you. You look like a dirty beggar on the streets, where would you get the money?”

Ron wasn't offended, he only smiled, “Do you know where real money comes from, Nathan?”

“It comes from the dirtiest places. I bet you wouldn't know that…”

Nathan's face twitched, embarrassed by that subtle insult. He proceeded to keep yelling, shouting at Ron that his offer only lasted for ten minutes, and after that, he would deal with Elena however he wanted.

Ron ignored him, as he was already on his phone contacting the nearest person who could help him.

“Look at you, rummaging through your phone! Have your lies caught up with you?” Nathan cackled while dragging Elena to his body. “Look at her, she belongs to me!”

Ron clenched his jaw, his eyes dimming as he stared at her struggle in Nathan’s arms. If not for Hera, he would have broken most of the bones in Nathan’s body in seconds.

He couldn't be unruly before his daughter.

A few more minutes passed and Nathan was already gloating and making rude remarks at Elena.

At the same time, a black Maybach drove on the path to the road and it parked behind Nathan’s car. As the car door opened, a man in a black suit stepped out, with an air of elegance around him.

Immediately Nathan saw him, and he pushed Elena to the floor, his mouth opening in shock. He knew this man as a pinnacle of power he couldn't reach no matter how he tried.

Why did such a powerful man come to see him?

He rushed to the car, already bowing, “Sir Hunter. It’s great to see you. Are you here to talk about my proposal with your company?”

“Proposal?” Hunter frowned. “Who are you?”

“What?” Nathan’s smile faltered. “I am a son of the West family…”

“Oh, the West family? The last I heard, your family business is failing, isn’t it?” Hunter sneered.

“That’s…that’s not true...” Nathan shook, embarrassed by that direct mockery. “But since you are here, I am sure we will get back on our feet soon—”

“I am not here for you.” Hunter cut in with furrowed brows. He didn't take another glance at Nathan before walking past him and going straight to Ron.

“I am sorry, Ron. I was a bit late.” Hunter smiled while waving at his driver to bring in the briefcase with cash. “Thank you for this opportunity to see you again.”

He met Ron outside the prison, hoping for a collaboration and now, he was sure Ron would consider him in the future.

“It's alright.” Ron smiled while pointing at Nathan. “Give him the money. I own Elena now, don’t I?”

Nathan stood in shock, his hands shakily accepting the briefcase. He didn't even need to open it, he could already smell the strong scent of cash. However, Ron’s gaze just now had sent chills down his spine.

He realized he had made a big mistake! Ron and Hunter were friends! It even looked like Ron was the boss!

“Mr…” Nathan shook, dropping to the briefcase before rushing to Ron. “Mr. Ron, I am sorry, I didn't recognize you just now. All I did—”

Before Nathan could reach Ron, he was shot a warning glare that got him rooted to the spot. Just now, he had seen a devil that couldn't be trifled with. He couldn't help the hot liquid that washed down his pants due to fear, knowing his father was going to kill him for ruining the deal with Hunter.

On the other hand, Ron walked to Elena with Hera. She took a step back as if she was being approached by fire.

“I am sorry for that.” He said calmly. “Your sister informed us you were here—”

“Sister?” She frowned. “I don’t have one and who are you really?”

  • Elena Is Our Enemy

Ron’s jaw clenched as he calmly shut the door to Elena’s room. There was no use running after her and her sudden escape had only confirmed something he had been suspecting. Elena wasn’t pretending. She knew exactly what she was doing and she knew Hera was her daughter. She may have been weak when she stood before Nathan West, but ever since they got back to the house, Ron had noticed how sharp and attentive she was. Her movements were quick and swift and her words piercing. She didn't seem like a normal maid. It was also commendable that she was able to escape under his watch. “What are you hiding, Elena?” He whispered to himself as he went back to his room. He took the small ziplog bag he had in his bedside drawer, raising it in the air to inspect it. For the years he had spent in prison, he had learned to never trust what he saw and he would always have a backup plan. The bag contained Elena’s hair which he had secretly taken when she was not looking and now, whether she liked

  • Elena Is Gone

Of course, he wouldn't let Ria see her. All he wanted to do was make sure she was safe. But as soon as he stepped back, Ria came barreling toward him. “Where are you going? • What About Elena?

Ron pursed his lips as he looked from the phone and back to Ria, “Why should I answer you?” “What?” Ria gasped. “Who gave you the balls to be so defiant?” “Defiant?” He shrugged. “I just don't answer to you, that’s it.” “But you must answer to this, Ron.” Ria snarled. “Why were you with Mr. Hunter and even Nathan West was bowing to you! Is there something you are hiding from me?” Ron couldn't help but see Ria for who she was now. She thought she had the world under her feet and she had control over everything. But then, he decided to test her, to push her over the edge to confirm his suspicion. “I don’t know Hunter.” He said. “But I went there to see Nathan West specifically. After all, you told me Elena was with the West family.” “Elena?” Her friends gasped, looking at each other fearfully. Ron quickly caught their expressions and was about to ask questions when Ria cut in. “What…what about Elena? Did you find her?” Her eyes darted around nervously. Ron studied her express

  • DNA Test

“What do you mean?” Ron frowned. “You know Ria, right? I used to be Ria’s boyfriend.” “I…I don’t know what you are talking about.” Elena shook her head, her eyes darting to look away. Ron pursed his lips, looking from Hera to Elena. Yes, Hera had some similar features with Ria but looking at Elena, she could see how they looked so much alike. He was convinced Elena was Ria’s mother. But it didn't seem like Elena was faking her words. She didn't even bat an eye when she spoke in Hera’s face. “Don’t you see the resemblance—”“Look, Mr. Ron…” Elena took a deep breath, her fists clenching beside her. “I appreciate that you bought me off like a commodity but you can’t force an identity on me.” “I am not anyone’s sister or mother and I certainly do not know you.”As soon as she was done speaking, she walked past Ron but he quickly caught her by the arm. “Where are you going?” He raised a brow at her. “You can’t step into that house anymore.”“Why? Because you bought me?” Elena sneered
