“What do you mean?” Ron frowned. “You know Ria, right? I used to be Ria’s boyfriend.”
“I…I don’t know what you are talking about.” Elena shook her head, her eyes darting to look away. Ron pursed his lips, looking from Hera to Elena. Yes, Hera had some similar features with Ria but looking at Elena, she could see how they looked so much alike. He was convinced Elena was Ria’s mother. But it didn't seem like Elena was faking her words. She didn't even bat an eye when she spoke in Hera’s face. “Don’t you see the resemblance—” “Look, Mr. Ron…” Elena took a deep breath, her fists clenching beside her. “I appreciate that you bought me off like a commodity but you can’t force an identity on me.” “I am not anyone’s sister or mother and I certainly do not know you.” As soon as she was done speaking, she walked past Ron but he quickly caught her by the arm. “Where are you going?” He raised a brow at her. “You can’t step into that house anymore.” “Why? Because you bought me?” Elena sneered, taking her hand off his grip. “Sure, I will follow you wherever. I have no choice, do I?” He watched her march toward his car while he thanked Hunter for coming. As he approached the car, he couldn't shake off the belief he had in mind. In order to establish that, he would have to conduct a DNA test. “Hera…” He whispered to his daughter. “I think I have found your real mommy.” He drove out of there, straight to the house that was provided for him by Hunter. As soon as they settled in, Hera ran around happily but when she stumbled on Elena’s path, she took a step back to her father. “I want to conduct a DNA test.” He declared. Elena’s eyes went dim and she shook her head, “No, you can’t. I won’t allow that.” “Well, if you have nothing to hide, then you wouldn't refuse, would you?” Ron asked, his eyes assessing her. Was she pretending or did she genuinely not know what was happening? “I don’t have anything to hide!” She snarled. Her reaction was a bit over the top which caused Ron to suspect her even more. “If you want me to pay you back for the 20 million dollars, then I will!” He stood up, starting to approach her but then, he stopped, seeing the way she froze. “Tomorrow. We are going to the doctors. Make yourself comfortable tonight.” He turned around, leaving Elena breathing heavily. He had a lot of questions for her but they would all be answered after the test. Why was she bought for ten million dollars? What was her story with Ria? The next day, Ron had already taken Hera’s samples before sending her to a daycare he had gotten overnight. He practically forced Elena out of her room. “Trust me, the process is going to be fair. If you are not Hera’s mother, then you can leave.” Elena pursed her lips, her hands clutching the sides of her clothes. She was scared, scared that they were going to find out an unprecedented secret about herself. Of course, she couldn't deny that Hera looked just like her. As Ron walked out of the house waiting for her to get ready, he looked around, finally admiring the serene neighborhood they were in. Only the top people in the country could afford to be here. However, he noticed some people approaching from the side of the road and he recognized them immediately. “What are you doing here, Ron?” Ria rushed forward, her eyes wide in disbelief. After her wedding, she realized she had been so stupid to cave in and tell him the truth. He wasn't worth anything, why was she afraid of his gaze? “Did you follow me here? Are you a stalker now?” Ron took a deep breath, his nose scrunched up for a second, “I am not here for you, Ria.” “Then why are you here? You heard I was having an after-wedding party here and you came to destroy it, right?” “Just because you are dressed in good clothes today doesn't mean you can walk into this neighborhood just as you like!” She snarled. “Someone, call the security! Let’s get him out!” Ria dashed to her friends and snatched her phone right out of their hands. “Who is he, Ria? Should we call the police instead?” They asked, looking at Ron from head to toe like he was a criminal. “You remember my ex-boyfriend who went to jail and crashed my wedding yesterday. That’s him.” She sneered. “Oh…” They chuckled. “Why is he looking so different today? Almost as if he dressed up to impress you.” “I know right?” Ria laughed, her shoulders raised. “I am the girl any man would covet. But I have my husband already, why would I want an ex-convict and murderer?” “Yes, girl...” They squealed while a few girls threw warning glares at Ron. But then, a few of them thought he looked familiar. “Ria, wait…” They whispered while scrolling through their phones. “Have you seen the video of Nathan West bowing to Hunter and one other unknown man?” “What video?” Ria frowned while holding her phone away from her ears. They quickly showed her the one-minute-long video that was now making the rounds on the internet. “Apparently, someone was in the neighborhood where this happened and took a video. That man…” They pointed out. “Doesn't he look like your ex-boyfriend?” Ria blinked her eyes, her breath hitched when she saw that it was indeed Ron! How could such a criminal get to stand beside Hunter? The richest man in the country! And even had one of the top heirs bow to him? Even her husband couldn't stand beside Hunter! “Ron…” Ria ended her call to the security while showing the video to him. “What’s this? Why were you with Mr. Hunter?”

Elena Is Our Enemy
Ron’s jaw clenched as he calmly shut the door to Elena’s room. There was no use running after her and her sudden escape had only confirmed something he had been suspecting. Elena wasn’t pretending. She knew exactly what she was doing and she knew Hera was her daughter. She may have been weak when she stood before Nathan West, but ever since they got back to the house, Ron had noticed how sharp and attentive she was. Her movements were quick and swift and her words piercing. She didn't seem like a normal maid. It was also commendable that she was able to escape under his watch. “What are you hiding, Elena?” He whispered to himself as he went back to his room. He took the small ziplog bag he had in his bedside drawer, raising it in the air to inspect it. For the years he had spent in prison, he had learned to never trust what he saw and he would always have a backup plan. The bag contained Elena’s hair which he had secretly taken when she was not looking and now, whether she liked
Elena Is Gone
Ria turned back to her friends, folding her arms like a Queen overseeing her kingdom. “Don’t worry, girls. Terry is going to get this scoundrel out of here. Who knows, he would want to get into our party using force?”Ron almost rolled his eyes at Ria, but he controlled himself. There was no use talking brain-rot with someone like her. And now, he was concerned about Elena who hadn't stepped out of the house ever since. Did she notice Ria or was she just taking too long? So, he turned around, wanting to go back in to find her. Of course, he wouldn't let Ria see her. All he wanted to do was make sure she was safe. But as soon as he stepped back, Ria came barreling toward him. “Where are you going? Are you trying to run away before the guards get here?” She yelled, her voice echoing through the open air of the estate.Ron stared at her, his brows creased, “You know, if the guards were to come here, you would be the one thrown out, right?”“Really? Do you even have the power to call
What About Elena?
Ron pursed his lips as he looked from the phone and back to Ria, “Why should I answer you?” “What?” Ria gasped. “Who gave you the balls to be so defiant?” “Defiant?” He shrugged. “I just don't answer to you, that’s it.” “But you must answer to this, Ron.” Ria snarled. “Why were you with Mr. Hunter and even Nathan West was bowing to you! Is there something you are hiding from me?” Ron couldn't help but see Ria for who she was now. She thought she had the world under her feet and she had control over everything. But then, he decided to test her, to push her over the edge to confirm his suspicion. “I don’t know Hunter.” He said. “But I went there to see Nathan West specifically. After all, you told me Elena was with the West family.” “Elena?” Her friends gasped, looking at each other fearfully. Ron quickly caught their expressions and was about to ask questions when Ria cut in. “What…what about Elena? Did you find her?” Her eyes darted around nervously. Ron studied her express
