Leon’s gaze remained fixed on Diane, his silver eyes dark with something unreadable, pain, regret… something deeper.

‘Why is she here?’ The question gnawed at him. ‘Why does my heart still stir for her… after all this time?’ he wondered, instinctively going to touch his chest.

Edward studied him for a moment before offering a knowing smile. “Is she your wife?”

Leon barely spared him a glance before shaking his head. “No. She’s just my…” His voice trailed off, frustration flickering across his face. He let out a sharp breath before shifting his attention to Edward. “Enough about that. I need a few things. You’re going to get them for me.”

Edward didn’t flinch at the commanding tone. Instead, he nodded with respect. “Of course. Anything you require, Mr…?” He hesitated. “May I ask for your name?”

Leon responded without thinking. “Azrael.”

A second later, realization hit him. He had given his true name.

But after a brief pause, he simply nodded to himself. “Yes. That’s my name. Leon Azr

Ignoring Edward’s shock, Leon retrieved one of the pills, crushed it into a fine powder, and mixed it with water before carefully administering it to Diane. Then with wide, unblinking eyes, Edward saw something beyond reason, beyond anything he had ever seen. Her wounds, deep and fatal only moments ago, began to close. Skin knit itself back together, bruises faded, and in mere seconds, her body looked as if it had never been injured at all. Bloodstains remained, but her skin beneath was flawless.“This… this is unbelievable!” he gasped, his voice filled with awe. He had spent his entire life in medicine, yet he had never encountered anything remotely close to what he was witnessing now.He looked at Leon and began to wonder, ‘Who really is this young man? There's no way an ordinary human can do this.’His eyes drifted to the golden pills still resting in the pot. Their value was immeasurable. These small pellets had the power to heal wounds that should have taken weeks, if not months

“Diane?” Leon echoed in silent surprise. His silver eyes lowered slightly. ‘Her name is actually Diane. Just like before. Is this a mere coincidence? Only her last name is different…’“Could I get the time, please?” Diane asked, glancing between them.“It’s already five in the evening,” Edward replied.Diane’s shoulders tensed, a flicker of fear crossing her face. “Already…?” she murmured.Edward studied her, then suddenly asked, “Forgive me, but did you say your last name is Lancaster?”Diane lifted her head and nodded.“Then that means… you’re part of the Lancaster family? The owners of Lancaster Enterprises?”A sigh left her lips. “Yes, that’s me.”Edward’s brows lifted in surprise. The Lancasters were among the ten wealthiest families in Brookdale. And one of them had nearly died tonight?‘What could have happened to her?’Leon, meanwhile, studied Diane with narrowed eyes. Fear. It clung to her, thick and suffocating.‘Why is she giving off fear?’ he wondered.Diane swallowed ha

“How did you get my number?” Leon asked Diane over the phone, amused.“Yesterday,” Diane admitted. “At Grant Pharmacy. You gave it to us, remember?”Leon narrowed his eyes. “I gave it to Edward, not you.”“Well, I overheard it… and took it,” she confessed sheepishly. “So… yeah. That’s how I got your number, Mr. Leon. Please don’t hang up. Can we meet? Just once, please.”“No,” Leon shook his head as he walked out of the house. “I have no reason to meet with you.”“Why are you being like this to me?” Diane asked with a sad tone. “Can’t we at least be friends?”“I want nothing to do with you, Diane, so no. We are nothing. We will be nothing. Goodbye.”He ended the call without hesitation. He sighed, instinctively holding his chest, while amused. ‘That girl. Bold, isn’t she? She just got my number like that. And here I thought I won’t be hearing from her, ever again.’His phone rang again, and his teeth gritted in anger. Snatching up the call, his voice turned sharp. “I thought I made m

As they drove, Edward began to brief Leon about the situation. “Mr. Jarvis Grave is the top most prominent man in the country, but his only son and heir was involved in a DUI incident last year. He’s been in a coma ever since. Even doctors like myself have been unable to treat his condition.” Leon remained silent, his gaze fixed out the window. Edward continued, “Mr. Grant, after witnessing the miraculous effects of the restoration pill, requested another from me and presented it as a gift to Mr. Grave. As expected, the wounds from the accident healed completely. However, the boy remains in a coma. That’s why Mr. Grave has personally demanded you to treat his son.” Leon kept quiet, while staring at the window and one would think he wasn't listening. He was watching the world blur past. The car was impressive, smooth, powerful, far superior to the taxi he had taken earlier. Even though he understood how these machines worked, he found himself mildly impressed. Edward, growing

Sebastian’s accusation sent a wave of confusion through the room. “What?” Dean turned his sharp gaze to Edward. “Is that true?” Edward shook his head in disbelief. “He’s wrong, Mr. Grant! Mr. Azrael made those pills right in front of me.” Sebastian scoffed, his finger jabbing in their direction. “You two are in this together, aren’t you? I see it now, Edward, you did this because you’re trying to climb the ranks, aren’t you? You’re not satisfied being third, so you stole my hard work!” His voice trembled with self-righteous fury. Leon tilted his head, eyeing the old man with mild amusement. “Wow. For someone your age, you severely lack wisdom. It’s a wonder you haven’t died from a stroke yet, though I fear you might.” Sebastian’s face flushed red. “Are you cursing me?!” he bellowed. Leon smirked but said nothing. Edward took a step forward, his voice firm. “Mr. Grave, Mr. Coggins is lying to you. Mr. Azrael created those pills with his own hands. I saw it myself. And now,

Shocked, Jarvis shot a suspicious glance at Sebastien. Sebastien was the only who had come into contact with his son most of the time since the accident. Therefore, it was easy to see who could be the culprit.Sebastian, sensing the shift in the room, swallowed hard but forced out a laugh. “Azrael… or whatever your name is. A-are you seriously accusing me?” He straightened, feigning confidence. “Where’s your proof? Throwing baseless accusations around won’t make them true! I could sue you for slander! I have done nothing but devote myself to saving young master Grave so how dare you try to frame me?”Ignoring Sebastien, Leon said, “This boy’s problem right now stems from the side effects of manipulating PC6. Irregular heartbeats, drop in blood pressure, even seizures…” then he reached for a sterile needle. He pressed the needle against GV20, the crown of the head, and once he did, the boy’s breathing deepened slightly, the erratic peaks on the monitor smoothing out. Then his fingers

Leon was satisfied to see Jarvis bow to his will. “This is good,” he mused. “Now that you kneel to me, that means I stand above everyone, doesn’t it?” Jarvis hesitated, brow furrowing. “Not exactly,” he admitted. “This city still has its laws. And there are powerful figures, both in the underground and within the system itself.” Leon bobbed his head, understanding him. “Then they should learn who true power belongs to.” His gaze sharpened. “And that’s where you come in. I have a task for you, and you will do it well.” Jarvis sighed, and replied, “What do you need me to do?” “First,” Leon said, glancing around at the watchful guards, “do you have an office? I’d prefer privacy.” Jarvis led Leon to his huge office, and Edward followed, happy to see that he was included in whatever discussion they were about to have. The door closed shut. Then Jarvis said, “I’m all ears now.” “I’d like to stay anonymous,” he made known, taking off his face cap. “Since you serve me now, it’s only r

That was over a year ago. Why are you digging up something that should stay buried and rotten?” he said, his tone dripping with condescension. “Face it, Diane. We have to be strategic about this. Our plans didn't work the first time, and it’s imperative that Diane closes this deal with Mr. Grave before we make another move. She’s our only access to that contract.”“Well, I still don't like that she's getting such an opportunity,” Brianna replied, clearly irritated. “You know this isn't just about getting the contract, it’s the prestige, the access, the spotlight. Why should she get that kind of privilege before me? His brain tried to piece together what just happened, but it was like grasping smoke. ‘Something killed him…’ the thought echoed through Leon’s mind like a slow tolling bell. He watched as Johnathan’s skin lost every bit of color, his features hollowing unnaturally fast. His body stiffened, rigor mortis setting in much too quickly. It looked like he’d been dead for months, not minutes. Just then, the door slammed open and Jarvis and Dante stepped in, both stopping short at the sight in front of them. “Oh my God!” Dante gasped, his voice laced with disbelief and horror. “He’s dead! He’s…” His words stumbled as his eyes locked onto the body. “Damn, he’s…” he trailed off, unable to finish the sentence. At Apex Clinic, Leon sat behind his desk, eyes narrowed in deep thought. Something wasn’t right, and he could feel it in his bones. I need to speak to him, because I’m not going to sit here and be harassed by… someone like you. A self-proclaimed healer who thinks waving needles makes him God.” Unfazed, Leon let out a low chuckle. “Those words are coming from a place of fear, and that’s why you can't admit it. Jarvis isn't gonna help you here, so I suggest you to tell me the source of why you've been a dead man walking.” Johnathan shook his head violently. “I’m not telling you anything because there’s nothing to tell!
