Pain.

That was all Leon could feel in his mortal vessel.

Leon clenched his jaw, anger flaring in his eyes as Dante struggled to lift him. “Damn it! Where the hell is the ambulance?” Dante’s voice was frantic, filled with concern. “Leon, stay awake. Just stay with me, alright?”

Leon could hear him, could hear the panic in his voice, but it was irrelevant. With a slow, deliberate breath, he muttered, “Get me out of here.”

“What?” Dante blurted, his grip tightening. “No! This is where we told the paramedics to come. You need to stay put. Don’t talk, don’t move—just focus on breathing. In and out, alright? Stay conscious.” He eased Leon onto a chair, his hands hovering anxiously.

Leon met his gaze, his expression laced with both pain and exasperation.

“Why, of all people, did you have to be the one to get shot?” Dante muttered, feeling frustrated.

Leon swallowed hard, his voice steady despite the pain. “I’ll be fine. Just… get me out of here.”
