Diane was about to say something, but Donald held her back, before facing his father. “I get that you're my father, and Diane is your granddaughter, but you have no right to act like this or to force her into doing something she doesn't want. We’re not that desperate. She's your granddaughter, and you're selling her off. Is that right?”

Greg let out a sharp scoff, looking around as all eyes seemed to be on them. Then he replied, “Selling her off? What do you take me for? A peddler? Don't be ridiculous! Mr. Payson simply wants to work with Diane, nothing more!”

Donald looked at him in disbelief. “Dad, don’t tell me you actually believe that.”

Greg shook his head at his son’s audacity. “You, a criminal who’s brought nothing but shame to my name, insulting me! The fact that I've been giving you so many passes has made you unmannered! How dare you?! I'm gonna call the police on you right now to get you out of my sight! It’s time for you to pay for your criminalities against my family

“What’s going on here? Why is the second most prominent man in the city shaking hands with that so-called pauper?”“Did something happen behind the scenes that we don’t know about?”“Even if something did happen, what’s the story here? Most of us have never had the honor of even standing next to Christopher Vale, and yet someone who probably doesn’t have a hundred bucks to his name is getting that opportunity. It doesn't make any sense.”Murmurs of confusion erupted in the room.Greg, meanwhile, was thrilled just to breathe the same air as Christopher Vale. A man like that could shift the future of his entire family, though he couldn't help but also wonder what was going on.Why was he shaking hands with Leon? Larry cleared his throat, trying to insert himself. “Uh, President Vale, I believe you may have mistaken that man for someone else.”At once, heads nodded in agreement, as if they’d finally found a logical explanation.“Yes, that has to be it.”“But who could he have mistaken h

Greg’s face went pale with fear. He knew without a doubt that Lancaster Enterprises would collapse if they lost their contracts with the Vale Group.“P-President Vale, why... please…” he stammered, panic seizing his voice. Then, in desperation, he pointed at Brianna. “You just need her to kneel and apologize, right?! Brianna, what are you waiting for?! Get on your knees and beg!”“Grandpa…” Brianna’s voice trembled, tears welling up in her eyes. The idea of kneeling before Leon and Diane felt unbearable. “Please don’t make me… I can’t do it…”“You can and you will!” Greg roared. “If you don’t, you’re out of this family, do you hear me? You’ll lose everything! Now kneel!”His harsh threat sent a wave of dread through Brianna, and her entire body began to shake. As the proud Young Lady of the Lancasters, giving up her status and the luxurious life she’d always known was unthinkable.“Diane, Leon, I-I’m sorry…” she muttered weakly.Dean’s icy voice cut through the air. “What was that? Even the men instinctively shielded their groins.Leon turned to Diane with a slight smirk. “Or do you think that’s too harsh? We have to be strategic about this. Our plans didn't work the first time, and it’s imperative that Diane closes this deal with Mr. Grave before we make another move. She’s our only access to that contract.”“Well, I still don't like that she's getting such an opportunity,” Brianna replied, clearly irritated. “You know this isn't just about getting the contract, it’s the prestige, the access, the spotlight. Why should she get that kind of privilege before me? Leon stood still, eyes fixed on Johnathan’s body lying lifeless on the floor of the clinic ward. His mind was spinning. His brain tried to piece together what just happened, but it was like grasping smoke. ‘Something killed him…’ the thought echoed through Leon’s mind like a slow tolling bell. He watched as Johnathan’s skin lost every bit of color, his features hollowing unnaturally fast. His body stiffened, rigor mortis setting in much too quickly. It looked like he’d been dead for months, not minutes. Just then, the door slammed open and Jarvis and Dante stepped in, both stopping short at the sight in front of them. “Oh my God!” Dante gasped, his voice laced with disbelief and horror. “He’s dead! He’s…” His words stumbled as his eyes locked onto the body. “Damn, he’s…” he trailed off, unable to finish the sentence. If he didn’t get to the bottom of it soon, it would keep gnawing at him.The dark energy surrounding Johnathan Kells had been undeniable. It was the same one he’d seen before, specifically in Daniel Mercer’s leg. That couldn’t be a coincidence.Letting out a deep sigh, Leon muttered to himself, “Whatever this is… I don’t recognize the signature, but I know one thing—it’s not good.”His phone began to ring, pulling him out of his thoughts. I need to speak to him, because I’m not going to sit here and be harassed by… someone like you. A self-proclaimed healer who thinks waving needles makes him God.” Unfazed, Leon let out a low chuckle. “Those words are coming from a place of fear, and that’s why you can't admit it. Jarvis isn't gonna help you here, so I suggest you to tell me the source of why you've been a dead man walking.” Johnathan shook his head violently. “I’m not telling you anything because there’s nothing to tell!
