Persis stared at Tedmond for a moment, considering his words. “Yes, I’ll be okay talking to them until you arrive. It wouldn’t be that bad, would it?”

Bianca glanced at Persis with a raised brow. “Yas? What a weird way of saying yes.”

Persis grinned silently. She spoke like that to ensure Bianca was paying attention to her. She was right—there was no way Bianca would dislike her.

“If that’s okay with you, then that’s alright,” Tedmond replied. “I’ll go to the company as planned, but I’d like it if you wore a mask with a camera. That way, I can see their faces and listen to the conversation.”

Persis frowned slightly. “That’s kind of creepy. Listening to me talk to the family who didn’t treat you well? It feels wrong.”

She refused the idea, not wanting Tedmond to hear the tough time she intended to give his family. It would also be embarrassing for him to hear everything she planned to say. Tedmond could already guess her reason for refusing, and it amused him. Leaving two sharp-tongued

The sun was already slipping behind the clouds by the time Tedmond walked through the main gate of the mansion, his steps steady, his expression unreadable. He looked calm… too calm for someone who had just been locked away in the basement.Thomas, who had been pacing back and forth under the large tree in the courtyard, nearly dropped his phone when he spotted him.“Young Master?” Thomas blinked, taking a cautious step forward, not believing his eyes.Tedmond didn’t say a word. He adjusted his collar as though nothing had happened and continued walking toward the front steps. After leaving the basement through the escape path he had created, Tedmond made sure to cover it up so well that no one would suspect how he had gotten out. He hoped it would throw them off and make them question the method of his escape.Still, he was certain that the blame would fall on Lisa, since she had been the last person to see him. He had no idea what might happen if Griffin’s family found out he was go

Pregnant?Lisa couldn’t believe her ears. If she were truly pregnant, then everything she had worked for would crumble. She had only just managed to wait for Tedmond’s return and was about to put her plan into motion. And now, it was all going to be ruined by a sudden announcement of pregnancy. This wasn’t what she wanted. She didn’t want a baby. She just wanted to be the wife of a rich man, and that could have been the case if Max had been competent. But he wasn’t.A baby would only hold her back and ruin everything.Meanwhile, the reaction from the rest of the room couldn’t have been more different. Max turned to her sharply, stunned. Maxine gasped. Evelyn’s expression twisted into something unreadable.“No,” Lisa whispered. “No, no, no—” Her breathing quickened. “This…this can’t be happening. No. No!”“Ma’am!” The doctor stepped forward, but Lisa began shaking her head violently.“I can’t—he won’t—no—!”Her knees buckled as panic overwhelmed her. She dropped to the floor, screaming

Lisa stepped out of the basement stairs, a satisfied smile on her face. All that was on her mind was finding the seal Tedmond had asked for and getting the marriage certificate ready. As long as she got that, she could say goodbye to the trash family that hadn’t treated her right to begin with. And the stupid family she thought she would gain so much from? They hadn’t given her anything.Instead, Max had been looking at other women. He didn’t spoil her like she’d expected. And now, she was going to get rid of him for good.“What are you grinning at?” Max’s voice cut through her thoughts, making her jolt in surprise. Her eyes widened, her head snapping in his direction. Max stood there with his arms folded and a deep frown on his face. He looked like he’d been standing there for a while.“You scared me,” she said with a sigh. “What are you—”“What the hell are you still doing down there?” he snapped, his voice sharp and accusing, not even letting her finish. “Everyone has already left.

  • CHAPTER 339

Tedmond looked at Lisa, his brows furrowing. Not only had she come all the way here to talk to him, but she was also claiming that he would agree to her terms just because he was supposedly still in love with her.But that wasn’t the case at all. He wasn’t interested in anything she had to say.“Yes or no?” she repeated. He thought about it for a moment. The answer he wanted to give was a direct no, but if she had the guts to show up and say something like that, maybe he could use her to his advantage.Perhaps he could find a way to get her into trouble for choosing to assist him. After giving it some thought and figuring out how to use her, he nodded and folded his arms.“All right. Let’s do this,” he said. Her eyes immediately lit up.She peered at him, pleased that he had agreed. Even though she’d asked to get back with him, she wasn’t truly into him, but he seemed to care more for her than Max did. Tedmond had always done things for her, even when he had nothing. Now that she was

Seeing the frown on Tedmond’s face, Gerald scoffed before turning and walking away. Then came Maxine, chewing gum lazily, her face full of smugness. “You think you’re tough? Sitting in that chair like you mattered? You looked like a scared little boy the second those men showed up.”Evelyn followed. She didn’t say much. She just glanced at him, clicked her tongue, and muttered, “Disgrace.” Like he wasn’t even worth a proper insult.Tina came next. “Hope you enjoy the silence, Tedmond. It’s going to be your best friend now.”She laughed and walked off like she’d just won a game she barely understood. Then came Otis.Still clutching his side, he leaned against the wall and peeked in through the hole in the door, his grin sickening.“You like stealing things, huh? Let’s see if you enjoy watching them get taken back from behind bars.”He smacked the wooden frame once and walked away with a groan of satisfaction. They were done. Or so Tedmond thought.Because as the rest of the family’s fo

  • CHAPTER 337

Tedmond’s eyes shifted toward the group of men who walked into the room. They were all dressed in black, grins stretching across their faces like they couldn’t wait to get started. Some looked to be in their forties, while a few had dyed hair that clashed with their graying beards. Tedmond could tell they were older men trying to appear younger, but it didn’t change the fact that they all looked rough, like men who had long been familiar with violence. They didn’t say a word. They just stood there, filling the space with a heavy, silent pressure.Even though they hadn’t been present earlier, Tedmond knew. These were the men who had been hired to track him down when he was missing. He remained still in his chair, unfazed. Turning to Frank, he asked calmly, “What are those men here for?”Frank didn’t respond. His gaze was already on the group, men he had texted earlier during the conversation. With a snap of his fingers, he had summoned them inside, expecting Tedmond to panic. But the
