Trying to stop his inner self-anger from taking over, he finally lost it.

The rage that had been building inside him could no longer be contained, not when this fool dared to cross the line by talking about his parents.

Jason was quick to react instantly.

He shifted just in time as the heavy hammer flew past his head — a hair closer and his face would have been ruined beyond recognition.

A narrow escape.

‘What the—’

Before he could finish his thought, Drakon appeared in front of him, forcing him to jump back from where he was standing.

Drakon’s fist missed, hitting only air.

“Looks like losers have tempers too.” even then, he didn’t stop. His lips curled into a creepy smile as he continued his taunts.

“Instead of dropping to your knees and worshiping me,” he said, “Maybe I will even take pity on you, then bless you with a few notes.”

“I don’t need or want anything from you. Keep your money and leave if you know what's good for you!” Drakon angrily fired back, closing in on him again.

Jason paused for a brief moment, the smile faded. He studied Drakon like he could see through every secret of his.

“You are a curse to this world,” Jason said lazily. “No one and I mean no one gives a damn about your existence. From the moment you were kicked out of your family, you became nothing. Absolutely nothing.”

Drakon stopped walking, locking eyes with him.

“Wow. Just wow…”

That was all he said, with a smirk on his face.

Jason’s eyebrow twitched at the sound of that, his face squeezed in surprise with a clear ‘What do you mean?’ expression.

“You think I want to be in that family?” Drakon spat out in a loud voice.

“No, no, no,” He said with a humorless laugh. “Tell me, what kind of family turns against its own flesh and blood? And treat him like an enemy instead of kin?”

“Which family chases their own blood out of the family circle using nothing but cunning accusations and poisonous lies?”

He slammed his fist against his chest.

“You all branded me a traitor without proof. Smiled to my face while plotting behind my back, wolves in sheep’s clothing, every last one of you.”

“And you expect me to still call that a family?”

Drakon wasn’t speaking for himself alone.

This wasn’t just about him.

It was about his parents. His parents had taken the family so seriously, ensuring nothing ever went wrong. Never once did they deny anyone anything. Every member of that so-called family lived without financial worry.

And yet…

Despite their devotion, the family still betrayed him at the end. When Drakon was close to age to step forward as heir, they pushed him out without hesitation.

Jason stared at him.

Then he laughed.

A slow, low chuckle escaped his lips, growing louder as he shook his head, as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world.

“So that is it?” Jason said, wiping imaginary tears from his eyes. “That tragic little backstory is supposed to move me?”

“Time up. You overstayed your welcome,” Drakon interrupted, stepping forward.

"Chasing me out of this place?" Jason chuckled. "You seem to forget this property belongs to the family too, not—"

Thud!

He found himself roughly pushed to the ground before he could finish.

“I SAID GET OUT!” Drakon said and grabbed him by his shirt from the ground.

“I don’t care what you want to say, but mark my words. I’m coming for you all. When I do…” A dark look crossed his face.

“Go ahead and hit me as you like.”

“I swear, as long as I, Jason Thorne, am alive, I will trouble you until you finally give in to death.”

Drakon immediately silenced him with a punch to the face, forcing him to swallow back the remaining words.

A second punch followed.

Then a third.

Just as he was about to land a fourth, he forced himself to stop and pushed him away.

“Ahaha! I thought you would go on until you were satisfied?”

Jason staggered back a few steps, barely managing to steady himself. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth onto the ground. He wiped it away with the back of his hand.

“Oh?” he mocked. “Why stop now? Afraid you might actually kill me?”

Drakon’s chest rose and fell heavily. His fists were pale from clenching so tightly.

His body trembled as he fought to suppress the screaming urge inside him to kill him like he sent those bastards after him yesterday's night.

Jason noticed the hesitation and laughed, louder this time, like a psychopath savoring his moment.

“That is it, isn’t it?” Jason said. “Still holding back. You are weak. Always have been.”

Drakon said nothing.

Jason took a step forward, completely unafraid, leaning close enough that their foreheads were almost touching.

“You know what hurts the most?” Jason whispered. “Is seeing your wife who cares about you choose me over you.”

That did it.

Drakon grabbed him by the collar and slammed him against the nearest wall with a deafening crash.

If he kept listening… if he let Jason keep talking…

He knew exactly what would happen.

“Say one more word,” Drakon said quietly, his voice dangerously calm, “And I promise you won’t walk out of here complete.”

For a second, Jason truly believed him.

The madness in Drakon’s eyes wasn’t rage anymore, it was restraint stretched to its absolute limit.

Jason coughed, then laughed weakly.

“Tch… see?” he said. “You still hesitate even now.”

Drakon released him abruptly, stepping back as if Jason disgusted him.

“Get out,” he said coldly. “You are not worth my time.”

Jason straightened his clothes slowly, adjusting himself in slow movements. He rolled his neck once, ignoring the pain, and gave Drakon one last look.

He turned to leave, then paused.

“Oh, and Drakon?” He glanced back over his shoulder. “Enjoy this time while you still have it.”
