From Nothing to Powerful Heir

Chapter 7

An old man with greying hair is sitting in a wheelchair and looking at Nolan with emotion. The glint in his eyes showed a deep sense of joy. Until the man smiled at him. 

Nolan was silent and looked at the old man without saying anything. This was an awkward situation for him. 

"I can finally see you again, my grandson." Vans spoke in a low voice. His eyes were filled with dew. 

Nolan was still looking at him with a cold face. "Is it true you are my grandfather?" Nolan raised one eyebrow. This was their first meeting. 

Vans nodded. "Yes, I've been looking for you for a long time." He said it with conviction. 

Vans looked at Nolan with a grave face. "All this time, I've been dreaming of meeting you, but my health has deteriorated because of my old age. And it's a bit of an obstacle for me to keep looking for you." Vans explained, trying to convince Nolan. 

Nolan didn't say anything. He had a hard time believing all this. All this time, he had never known that Nolan had a grandfather until suddenly, a man appeared, leaving Nolan in doubt. 

"I know this is hard for you to believe. But I have been finding out about you for some time now. And I also found out about your father's condition." Vans gave an explanation after he saw the doubt in Nolan's eyes. 

"I have transferred your father to a hospital with more exceptional facilities. I'm sure it will speed up your father's recovery." Vans said it very carefully. 

This was very surprising to Nolan. He looked angry at the explanation. "Where are you taking my father?" He looked at them warily, thinking of something bad they could do. 

Vans glanced at James. The man understood immediately. He took out a tablet and showed it to Nolan. 

"Master, this is where your father is currently being treated." James showed the screen of his tablet. 

Nolan looked at it. There was a clear view of his father lying unconscious. It was a different place from the previous hospital. This time, it was clear that the hospital was more luxurious, with some complete medical equipment in the room. 

After showing everything, James looked at Nolan. "Master, this is a specialized hospital for the Dragniel family. And, of course, it has marvelous facilities." 

"You can come there as soon as this talk is over," James said politely. 

"I know it's hard for you to believe everything. But if you want, we can do the DNA test once again. Then you will know the truth." Vans emphasized his sentence. 

Nolan looked at him with a flat face. He couldn't decide that easily. 

"Even if your father regains consciousness and memory, he will tell you the whole truth about the Dragniel family, Nolan." Vans' gaze became very serious. 

Nolan watched his grandfather more seriously. He did not find anything unusual about his grandfather's expression, but that didn't immediately make Nolan believe everything. 

Nolan looked at his grandfather, who was right in front of him. His eyes interlocked. "Do you think it's easy to overcome all that? Especially when it comes to restoring memories," Nolan emphasized. 

Vans chuckled at Nolan's words. He touched Nolan's hand. "Of course, it's not difficult in the Dragniel family."

Vans lowered his hand from his grandson's. "The Dragniel family hospital has developed extraordinary medical capabilities."

"When your father regains consciousness, he will receive treatment to regain his memory. And afterward, he will definitely explain everything to you." Vans explained again. 

Vans looked back at James. The man nodded slightly. He left from there. But not for long. He returned with a document. 

James walked up to Nolan, handing him the document. 

Nolan looked at the document in James' hand. He accepted it hesitantly, but the look from his grandfather reassured him. Then, he began to open it. 

"Master, you are the young Master here. And you need to know everything about the Dragniel family company," James explained. 

When Nolan began to examine the document's contents, he was very surprised to find that it contained a list of several companies owned by the Dragniel family—not just one to ten companies. It showed the order of company names up to the top 100, whose names were known to many people.

Nolan swallowed as he looked at all the things his head was showing. He showed not only the list of 100 companies but also the other assets owned by the Dragniel family, several mansions in the Green Hometown area, the Saphire Residence, and others. It was incredible. 

Nolan watched his grandfather with an intense gaze. In his heart, he wondered about the truth of what had happened today. He had always heard that the Dragniel family had great wealth, but he had never thought that the Dragniel family's wealth was far greater than he had imagined. 

But at this moment, Nolan looked back at his grandfather and James. "Why are you showing me all this?" His face was filled with a lot of confusion.  

James smiled kindly. "Master, these are all assets owned by the Dragniel family, and of course, they will belong to you."

Nolan was shocked by James' words. This was absolutely impossible. He had never imagined this in his entire life, and it seemed like a dream. 

At this moment, James handed something to Nolan again. "Take this."

Nolan took it. He was again filled with shock when he found out that it was a luxury car key. His hand trembled slightly when he received it, significantly since James also slipped him a black card. 

Nolan was speechless. As he looked at James, the man smiled at him. "Master, I know you might still feel uncomfortable with me. And you can drive the car yourself."

"It's one of those cars you can use now. Because the other one is still in the garage. If you are unsatisfied, I will take you to see it and choose it myself." 

James' words made Nolan feel even more dreamlike. He swallowed hard. 

When Nolan had not said anything, James spoke again, "Master, on that card, there is a billion dollars. And you can use whatever you want." 

Nolan looked at the two objects in his hand. One billion dollars—that was fantastic money. All his life, Nolan had never thought he would have that much money. 

He was in dire need of money, and now someone claiming to be his grandfather was giving away a billion dollars for nothing. It made Nolan's heart beat uneasily. 

"Master, you have nothing to lose by staying here to wait for your father's full recovery." The man clasped his hands together while talking to Nolan and was very guarded in his demeanor. "You have a lot of money and power that will protect you." James continued to reassure Nolan. 

Nolan gulped. Thinking that this was an incredible offer. 

When Nolan couldn't come up with an answer, James looked at him more sternly. "Remember when you were in the position of having nothing and only getting insulted without being able to do anything."

The man sighed for a moment. He did not remove his piercing gaze from Nolan. "You can think of this; at least you can protect the people you care about."

After that critical conversation, James showed her the room. She didn't say anything afterward. He felt exhausted and confused by what had just happened in his life. 

Nolan lay on the large bed in the room. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling. 

Nolan raised his hand, revealing the car keys and black card he held tightly. His breathing was audible. "This is really surprising."

"Isn't it like I sold myself to two different people?" Nolan exhaled in exasperation.
