The words hit harder than any weapon. Thiago felt his entire world collapse.

"No..." His lips trembled. "You're lying."

Leandro smirked. “We’ve been together for years. The timing just worked in our favor.”

Everything shattered inside Thiago. Every sacrifice. Every injury. Every moment of survival—done for a family that was never his!

At that moment, the zombies reached him.

Hands grabbed his body, and teeth tore into his flesh. Pain exploded through him as blood mixed with the filthy water. But the betrayal hurt more than anything physical.

Then pure fury erupted within him, and despite being an ordinary human without powers, his rage unleashed monstrous strength.

“AAAAAHHHH!”

His roar echoed across the flooded wasteland as he violently smashed the zombies away, cracking bones and sending bodies flying.

Still enduring their bites and grip, he tore them off himself and turned his gaze toward the tower above, locking onto Vespera and Leandro—the adulterous pair who had stolen years of his life.

Even if he had to die... He would drag them to hell with him!

He surged upward, grabbing the hanging basket rope and pulling himself onto it as it swung violently above the water. Blood poured from his wounds, but he climbed anyway, driven purely by fury.

Above, Vespera’s calm broke for the first time. “Leandro!”

Leandro only chuckled. Scissors appeared in his hand.

He snapped them shut once.

Then cut the rope.

The thick cable severed instantly, then the basket dropped.

Thiago’s eyes widened. “NO!”

He fell through the air, slamming into the water with bone-jarring impact.

Before he could recover, the zombies swarmed again. Dozens of rotting hands dragged him under, tearing him deeper into the flood. His screams faded as the water closed over him.

Vespera stood there beside Leandro, looking down at him as if he were nothing more than debris in the water. Just then, Leandro raised a hand slightly, almost in a polite gesture.

“Thiago,” he called out.

His voice carried an irritating calmness.

“I must thank you.”

Thiago’s eyes widened slightly, even as a zombie tore into his arm. Thank him?

Leandro smiled.

“Without you, things would’ve been much harder.”

Thiago frowned. “What…?”

Leandro lifted his hand. On his finger was a worn ring. It was Thiago’s ring. The family heirloom he had worn since before the apocalypse. The one Vespera had taken from him during the early chaos, claiming it would be “kept safe.”

Leandro turned it slowly in the light.

“This little thing,” he said with a widening smile, “turned out to be quite extraordinary. I dropped blood on it during an injury, and that’s when it awakened.”

“It’s a hidden storage artifact with a four-cubic-meter space—enough to store food, weapons, medicine, water… everything needed to survive the early apocalypse.”

He smirked.

“While everyone else was starving, I stockpiled resources. I recruited survivors, built influence, and gathered awakened fighters.”

Thiago’s breathing hitched. The world seemed to tilt as his mind struggled to process it.

“No…” he whispered hoarsely.

Leandro chuckled softly.

“Oh yes.”

His eyes gleamed with quiet satisfaction.

“And eventually… I became the leader of this group.”

Thiago finally understood. The way Leandro always had supplies when others didn’t, the way his authority grew so quickly, and the way capable fighters flocked to him, hadn’t been talent or luck. It had been Thiago’s stolen legacy!

A low, broken sound escaped Thiago’s throat. Something between a laugh and a sob. So that was it. He hadn’t just been used. He had been harvested. He was a walking resource farm for another man’s rise.

His vision darkened at the edges, as rage surged again, but only despair remained beneath it.

Vespera leaned forward slightly with her expression full of mockery.

“Pathetic,” she sneered. “You carried a treasure and never even realized it.”

She smirked. “It belongs with someone worthy, not a fool like you. You deserved to lose it. You're nothing but a waste.”

Each word struck like a blow in Thiago's chest.

Thiago’s body spasmed as another wave of zombies bit into him. His strength was completely gone now. He could barely lift his arms. The water around him turned dark with blood.

The tower above seemed distant now, like a fading memory as the thought formed slowly in his mind.

"If I live again… If I get another chance…"

His fingers twitched weakly as the zombies pulled him deeper.

"I will make sure none of them escape."

The last thing he saw was the tower window closing slightly, sealing away the people who had destroyed him. Then the floodwater engulfed him entirely, and his eyelids fell shut as death claimed him.

Caius' shouting echoed throughout the neighborhood, which made more residents gather, with whispers spreading everywhere.Inside the newly purchased house, Thiago calmly observed everything through the property's outdated security cameras."So, the news spread faster than expected." He thought, however, he wasn't surprised. Neighborhood gossip always traveled quickly.Instead of avoiding the confrontation, he smiled and walked toward the entrance, positioning himself in front of the opening, completely blocking the entrance with his body.Caius immediately tried forcing his way forward."Move!"Thiago didn't budge. "This is private property. You have no permission to enter."Caius shoved harder. "There is absolutely no way you earned enough money overnight to buy this place. That money must have been accumulated before the divorce. You were still married to my daughter then. So at least half of it belongs to the Morgan family!"He slapped the metal gate for emphasis.Thiago laughed an

The moment Thiago stated his conditions, the sales agent froze. "You... you want to pay the full listing price and you don't want to negotiate?""Yes.""You also want the transaction completed today?""That's right."The agent blinked several times, wondering if he had misheard. Most buyers spent days bargaining over every detail. Some argued over furniture, others over transfer fees, and many negotiated for weeks before signing anything.Yet the young man standing before him wanted none of that. He wanted the property immediately.Recovering from his surprise, the agent's expression transformed into one of pure excitement."Mr. Moretti, please have a seat. I'll begin the paperwork immediately." He practically ran toward the office. The detached house Thiago had chosen had remained unsold for quite some time.Although it occupied the highest point in Jacquer Estate and offered magnificent views, there was one major drawback. Behind the hill stood the town cemetery. Many buyers found t

Vespera had already endured the exhausting divorce proceedings, only to return home and face another round of accusations. She rubbed her temples. "You think I haven't tried?"Both men looked at her. "What do you mean?" Caius demanded."I already filed a police report. I accused Thiago of assault.""You did?""Yes. My original plan was simple. Once the police detained him, he'd be forced to negotiate with me. If he wanted the charges dropped, he'd have no choice but to return." "That's actually smart." Nicola's eyes brightened."But unfortunately, it accomplished almost nothing." Vespera interrupted. "The police are moving unbelievably slowly. They said they'll investigate, collect statements, review evidence, and follow procedures."She mocked the officer's calm tone. "Please wait patiently, ma'am."Caius slammed his fist onto the table. "Worthless! They'll only move faster if someone pays.""Exactly. They hinted that the investigation could be... expedited." Vespera emphasized the

After leaving the courthouse with the divorce papers finally signed, Thiago felt an unfamiliar lightness settle over his shoulders. The invisible chains that had bound him to the Morgan family for years had finally been broken. There was no celebration waiting for him, no friends congratulating him, but he did not need any of that. Simply walking down the busy street without worrying about another phone call demanding money or favors was satisfying enough.Instead of rushing anywhere, he found a well-known restaurant nearby and ordered a generous lunch.A perfectly grilled steak, creamy mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, fresh bread, and a bowl of rich mushroom soup soon covered the table. For dessert, he treated himself to chocolate cake and a cup of expensive coffee. In his previous life, every cent he earned had gone into supporting Vespera, Caius, Nicola, and even Evren. He had always eaten the cheapest meals while the Morgan family enjoyed expensive restaurants using his money

Thiago's expression remained emotionless. "Go to the Civil Court immediately."There was a brief silence."What?""I've already prepared the divorce application," he said flatly. "Meet me there. The divorce will be finalized today."For a heartbeat, the line went completely silent. Then Vespera exploded."Have you completely lost your mind?" she shouted. "Who do you think you are? You storm out of the house, hit my brother, and now you're demanding a divorce?"A torrent of curses poured through the speaker.Thiago listened without interrupting. When she finally paused to catch her breath, her tone abruptly changed. "Think about Evren," she said, trying a softer approach. "He's only two years old. A child can't grow up without a father."Thiago's eyes turned cold. "Stop using him.""What?""I already know." His voice remained perfectly calm. "Evren isn't my biological son. He is your child with Leandro."The other end of the line fell utterly silent.Vespera's breathing stopped. Her mi

Thiago stared blankly at his empty fingertip.Instinctively, he searched the floor around him, wondering whether it had somehow slipped off. But before he could panic, an indescribable sensation emerged from deep within his consciousness that the ring was still there.More accurately, it had fused into him and become a part of his very soul! The realization sent a shiver through his body.Closing his eyes, Thiago could clearly sense the ring's existence inside himself. The vast storage space unfolded before his mind once more, and a smile slowly spread across his face. From now on, no one except him could ever see the ring again. This spatial treasure belonged to him—and to him alone, and no one could steal it.
