Logan shoved the suitcase into Francis’ hands,  "Take it back, you asshole. You might have fooled everyone but I know you as the snake that you are. Lusting over my wife since the day you set eyes on her. You think I'll allow that to happen?" He grabbed the man by the collar again and dragged him towards the elevator. "Now, get lost."

Francis let out an amused chuckle. He straightened himself and pulled Logan into the elevator and whispered in his ear, “Haha, you got me. But guess what, I'm not going to stop, I'm gonna sleep with your wife and make her leave you. Just watch, you bastard.” He pushed Logan out of the elevator and the doors closed.

Logan breathed heavily as rage built up inside him… Imagine being that cocky.

He straightened himself before turning back towards Mia's room. As he slowly approached Ava, part of him wished that she didn't realize…that she didn't know what Francis was after. Because why would she accept any help from him if she knew his agenda? He prayed within himself and hoped that Ava wasn't already swayed by Francis.

"Logan, where did you get that money?” Ava looked at her husband with a panicked and worried gaze. "Did you steal it from somewhere?" She asked as disbelief clouded her eyes. "I know things are tough for us but that shouldn't let you result in stealing!"

She paused for a bit and sucked in a breath, then her eyes widened, "Oh my God, oh my God! Logan, please don't tell me you borrowed the money. The bank wouldn't lend you such a big amount with your yearly income. Don't tell me you sought loan sharks…”

Logan couldn't believe what Ava was saying. How could she say such a thing to him? Did she really think the worst of him? Did she think he couldn't get the money through legal means? Seeing how his wife was treating him like a criminal while she was praising Francis Lee just a few brought pain to his heart.

"I'm talking to you, Logan. Answer me!" She began to tear up as she pointed accusingly at him. "How could you do such a thing, Logan? I thought you were sensible! How do you expect us to pay back the loan you took? You know how dangerous that is! You're putting Mia in more danger."

Logan looked at how Ava was trembling in fear, thinking he had done something reckless. He couldn't take it anymore, it was time he told his wife about the truth and how wealthy he was. It wouldn't be fair to her and his daughter to be suffering when he was now the official heir to a multi-trillion empire.

He steadied her shoulders, “Hey… My love, calm down-”

Slap!

Logan stiffened, he couldn't believe what just happened, did Ava just slap him across the face? He looked at her with his eyes wide.

"Never in your pitiful excuse of a life tell me to calm down.” Ava warned, her face carried no remorse for hitting him. “Do you know what you’ve done? You're telling me to calm down when you just put a target on our back?" The hate coming from her was real and unfiltered,  "Not only do I need to take care of my daughter and this sorry excuse of a husband, I now have to take care of the money you borrowed from these loan sharks. Do you not know how high their interest rate is? Once you borrow from them, they'll make you indebted to them for the rest of your life.”

Logan was really stunned by Ava's actions. He touched the side of his face that was now visibly red, thanks to Ava's slap. The pain stung but not as much as her words did. He didn't know when she started seeing him this way…Pathetic, senseless, a burden. When did she start to hate him? Why had he not noticed it? Was it always there? Did she really see him as a silly excuse for a husband?

He couldn't help but wonder if there were any signs that he missed… That's when it hit him.  Ava began to grow distant from him a month after she started working directly with Francis Lee. That awful man had made her grow tired of Logan, seeing him as a lost cause.

Logan looked at her, really looked at her,  "Ava, do you hate me?"

Ava was taken aback by this question, it even got her wondering… Did she really hate him? Ava wasn't a violent person by nature, she rarely shouted or got angry. But now, seeing how easy it was for her to hit him, and worse, didn't have any regrets after…

It was impossible to tell the gender. The distorted voice spoke. It was flat and mechanical."Gordon Pilgrim was useful but expendable. He served his purpose, now he is nothing."Logan watched the screen. His expression didn't change."We know who you really are, Logan. We know your true bloodlin

He pointed at each one as he talked."The Bright smuggling network is finished. They lost their last major port contact yesterday. The guy walked away, there was no warning."Logan picked up one of the papers and scanned it. "That means the remaining goods are being seized."Luke nodded. "Customs is holding shipments at three different ports. Suppliers are demanding payment for goods that aren't moving. The whole operation is crumbling from the inside."Logan set the paper down. The one Gordon hired first, they just withdrew. Cited conflict of interest."Logan leaned back in his chair. "That doesn't happen unless someone made them.""That's what I thought. So I traced it, soomeone made an anonymous payment. It was much larger than Gordon's budget. Enough to make the firm walk away."Logan was quiet for a moment. "Who?""I can't trace the payment. It came through multiple shell accounts. But someone spent a lot of money to cut Gordon's resources."Logan's expression hardened. "The real player. They're cleaning the board, cutting Gordon's tools and making him weaker."Scott paused. "That doesn't make sense. If the real player is pulling Gordon's strings, why weaken him?""Because Gordon is becoming a liability. He's too emotional and too reckless. The real player wants control, G
