It took more than a passing minute for Logan to realise that Ava wasn't going to answer his question. He shook his head and blinked back the tears that were starting to form, “Keep an eye on Mia. I have to get back to Synergy.” He said in a low voice then left.

Ava watched him go. She was heartbroken but she realised that she didn't want him here, that alone answered the question Logan had asked her earlier.

Logan’s head was filled with thoughts as he stood at the side of the road, waiting for a taxi. He had decided to come out of hiding just for his daughter and his wife but what did he get in return? His wife saw him as a man who wasn't capable and it hurt more than ever.

His heart had been at its lowest since his sister's death. He decided he was going to end things and quit, then he met Ava, she took care of his heart for the longest time…only to shatter it again. It really was unexpected of her…

Logan arrived at Synergy Corp in a bad mood. He kept on replaying what had happened over and over in his head and couldn't help but feel sad that he had a fight with his wife.

He came to a conclusion after everything he had been through. It was time that he stopped pretending to be what he wasn't. He was not poor, in fact, he was the heir of one of the wealthiest men in the city and he needed to act like it and that was why he had decided to quit his job.

He was immediately confronted by his colleagues the minute he stepped in. He noticed they had a snooty look on their faces but he didn't care about that, after all, they had never liked him.

"Hey, do you guys know where Mr Scott is?" He calmly asked.

"Do we look like his keeper? You got some nerve…" One of them said in spite.

"If you want to see him, go look for him. We're not your errand boys." Another said.

His fellow janitors began mocking him but Logan was composed. He didn't allow anything they said to affect him. He could see that they were not going to help him so he ignored them and started searching for the supervisor.

A few minutes after searching, he found  Mr Scott headed towards his office after leaving the tea room. "Sir, do you have a minute? I'd like to talk to you about something important." He quickly told the man before he could enter his office.

"Oh…" Mr Scott said with a hint of ridicule, then  sighed. "Let's go to my office. We'll talk there."

"Alright, what do you want, boy?" Mr Scott asked the moment they got in, he didn't even ask Logan to take a seat.

"I'd like to formally quit my job as a janitor." Logan said and brought out an envelope containing a letter of resignation, he placed it on the table and slid it over.

"Hah!”  The supervisor laughed and picked up the envelope, he then ripped it into pieces. "This is all rubbish. I do not need your stupid letter of resignation, because you were fired hours ago. You are no longer an employee of Synergy Corp."

Logan wasn't really shocked by what he heard.  Whether he was fired or he quit, it really didn't matter as long as he was free from this establishment,  but he couldn't shake off the curiosity that swelled inside of him. He wanted to know what could have warranted such a decision in his absence.

Mr Scott glared at him, "Consider this your bad luck for messing with a senior colleague who holds more power than you in the company."

“Oh…So that's how it is…” Logan said within him, he looked at Mr Scott, "Did Francis Lee have a hand in this?"

Logan somehow expected Francis to get back at him for what happened at the hospital, but he wasn't expecting to get fired because Francis was the type to keep his target around and frustrate them… Then it clicked, Francis wanted him to be away from Ava during working hours so he could spend more time with her… and make his move.

He tightened his fists, he made a mental note to himself that he was going to make that snake pay for everything he had done to him. "If you have decided to fire me, then, there's nothing I can do about it.” He said nonchalantly. "But what about my salary? It's the end of the month already." He held out his hand, “Hand it over. Now.”

He pointed at each one as he talked."The Bright smuggling network is finished. They lost their last major port contact yesterday. The one Gordon hired first, they just withdrew. Cited conflict of interest."Logan leaned back in his chair. "That doesn't happen unless someone made them.""That's what I thought. So I traced it, soomeone made an anonymous payment. It was much larger than Gordon's budget. Enough to make the firm walk away."Logan was quiet for a moment. "Who?""I can't trace the payment. It came through multiple shell accounts. But someone spent a lot of money to cut Gordon's resources."Logan's expression hardened. "The real player. They're cleaning the board, cutting Gordon's tools and making him weaker."Scott paused. "That doesn't make sense. If the real player is pulling Gordon's strings, why weaken him?""Because Gordon is becoming a liability. He's too emotional and too reckless. The real player wants control, G
