[ First Task Completed! ]
[ Accumulated EXP: 40 ] [ Strength: Permanently increased by 2% ] [ Skill unlocked: Combat Awareness – Basic ] Owen leaned against a wall in a dark alley, gasping for breath. While the results were displayed on the system’s screen, a sharp vibration came from his pocket. “But… the cops took my phone, didn’t they?” he wondered. With an eyebrow raised, Owen pulled his phone from his pocket. It had magically reappeared, to say the least. He stared at the screen as a notification blinked. Bank Alert! Deposit Received: $1,000,000 His eyes widened, and his smile broadened. He had never seen such a huge amount deposited into his account before. His mind raced, new clothes, a better place to live, maybe even continuing his education without stress. Girls would like him now. Even if it was for the money, who cared? But for now, he needed to leave the area before the cops caught up with him. Owen walked as far as he could, hailed a taxi, and got off at a hotel. It wasn’t expensive, no grand chandeliers or top-notch hospitality, it was just enough to spend a few hundred bucks, eat decent food, and sleep on a comfortable bed for once in his life. “Hi,” he said, waving at the receptionist behind the counter. The look she gave him wasn’t irritation or disdain like he was used to, it was shock. Even Owen hadn’t considered how he looked when he walked in. “How did you get in here?” she asked, glancing toward the door where the security guard was absent. “You have to leave. Now.” “Wait,” Owen pleaded. “I was involved in an accident, that’s why I look like this. I just need a place to spend the night and wash up, please.” Before he finished speaking, the woman burst into laughter. Owen glanced behind him, thinking something else had amused her, but it was him. He was the joke. “You think I’m a fool?” she asked. “I know boys like you, roaming the streets, fighting among yourselves, then coming here to spend stolen money. Leave now before I call the cops. You’ll regret it when they arrive.” “No, I’m not like that,” Owen argued. “I promise I won’t cause any trouble. Please.” Without lifting her head, the woman replied dismissively, “Get out. Now.” “But—” “Now!” Not understanding why she treated him that way, Owen turned and headed for the door. He would have to risk going back onto the streets and find somewhere else to spend the night. He had barely passed the doorway when she called him back. Apparently, she had seen the news on her phone that police were searching for Owen and offering a reward for information leading to his capture. A devilish smile crept across her face as she decided to turn him in. Owen paused and turned back, hoping she had changed her mind. “Yes?” “You can spend the night,” she said with a smile. She typed a few things into her computer, then pulled a key from a drawer. The tag read Room 23. Owen exhaled in relief and took the key. “Thank you so much,” he said. “How much for a night?” “Just four hundred,” she replied. When Owen reached to pay, she stopped him. “Don’t worry, it’s on the house.” “What?” Owen thought. Does she think I can’t afford it? More importantly, why the sudden kindness? The questions churned in his mind. “Why?” he asked. “I just wanted to help,” she replied, immediately looking away. Owen sensed something was wrong, though he couldn’t tell what. Unease settled in his chest as he walked down the corridor toward his room. [ Warning ] [ It is a trap. ] “I thought as much,” Owen whispered. “But I don’t know her plan. Should I leave and find another place?” [ Negative. Your face is on the news. People are actively searching for you. Unfortunately, you have not unlocked an attribute that allows facial alteration. ] “So what do I do?” [ Initiating best strategy. ] [ You will fight. ] “Huh?” Owen stopped in the corridor and glanced toward the lobby. Everything seemed quiet. “You want me to fight her? But she’s a—she.” [ Not her, but for her. ] “What does that even mean?” Before he could finish speaking, a scream echoed from the lobby. It was the receptionist’s voice, filled with terror. [ New Task ] [ Save the lady from the attackers ] “How does this save me from the trap?” Owen wondered as he cautiously crept toward the end of the corridor to see what was happening. [ Human psychology. Trust me. ] “Sure,” he whispered. Once close enough, Owen peered into the lobby. Three masked men stood at the desk. One pointed a gun at the woman as she emptied cash from a drawer, while the other two stuffed money into a bag. “It’s a robbery,” Owen thought. He shifted his gaze to the entrance and spotted a man lying unconscious on the floor. “When did all this happen?” he wondered, but there was no time to ask. His legs moved against his will. “Hey, stop!” Owen shouted. The robbers paused and turned toward him. After a moment, the man holding the gun laughed. “Who’s this rat talking to?” he mocked, and the others laughed along. The receptionist already had her hands on her head, hoping they would just take the money and leave. Now that Owen had intervened, things were about to get worse, and she believed there was no way he would survive the night.Latest Chapter

The next morning arrived fast, too fast for Owen. He had spent most of the night thinking through the plan, and as soon as he was up, he checked the system for any notification, but got none. He had barely finished washing up when the doorbell chimed, and before he could even reach for the handle, the door opened smoothly.“Owen?” A man stepped in slowly. It was not the butler this time, but the man whom he had been expecting since Hudson’s departure last night. He was tall, lean, and dressed in a charcoal-gray suit that fit too well. His movements were efficient, his eyes sharp and calculating. He looked like the kind of man that billionaires would hire to walk around with them as an assistant or a protocol officer.“I’m here for your preparation,” he said calmly. “You can call me Marcus.”Owen nodded slowly. “I was expecting you. Not quite sure what I need to be prepared for, but I am ready. Talking?”Marcus allowed a faint smile. “Amon

Owen had quite an experience spending the day at Hudson’s home. Although he stayed indoors for the majority of the day and did not get to meet other members of the family, the other treatments were far too astounding. The butler often came in to check up on him for no reason in particular. He brought a few clothes here and there, food when necessary, and even suggested that Owen take a walk around the estate since it was secured and whatever happened within was under Hudson’s control but Owen declined. The sky outside had already darkened when a sudden knock came. Owen looked up from the edge of the bed, wondering what else the butler had come to suggest to him.“Come in,” he said almost dismissively. The door opened, and Hudson stepped inside, Owen’s eyes widening. He was adjusting his cufflinks and looked ready for a corporate dinner or who knows where. He carried himself with the same composed ease, yet there was something about hi

Owen felt uneasy after his conversation with Hudson. He managed to eat breakfast without choking, but even after returning to the room, the weight of Hudson’s words crashed down on him. The silence in the mansion only made things worse than they already were.He stood alone in the guest room, staring at his reflection in the tall mirror, thinking about a deal that could either change his life or ruin it entirely. Accepting the challenge was one thing, but accomplishing the mission was another. Brad was the heir of an influential family, and he? Well, all he had was eleven million dollars in his name, which was nothing compared to the Luthersons’ worth. Not yet, at least.“So,” he muttered, dragging a hand down his face, “now you’re just quiet, huh?”[Sovereign Reclamation System – Active][Initializing Task Clarification Protocol]Owen exhaled deeply. Finally, he was going to get the explanation he needed. “Good,” he said, walking back to the bed and staring at the blue holographic sc

Owen woke up to silence. The drive through the night had been very long, and he genuinely had not trusted the man he was in the car with, but the system had insisted that he stayed until they arrived at what appeared to be an estate. Through the gate, he had been greeted by a luxurious mansion, guided inside the building by a security guard, and then a maid had led him to the room where he had spent the night. The ceiling above him when he woke was elegant; he had not quite taken in the scene the night before. The windows were draped with silk curtains, and the wooden floor glistened in its polished state. Just before he sat up, there was a slight knock on the door before it opened without a sound. “Good morning, Mr. Owen. I trust you slept well?” the man who stepped in said with a slight bow. He was tall, elderly, and dressed in a black suit with white gloves. His gesture was calm and professional, and Owen seemed to recognize him from the night before. “You served me tea l

[ Task Completed ] [ Accumulated EXP: 40 ] [ Total EXP: 80 ] [ Strength: 4% permanently increased ] [ Endurance: 2% permanently increased ] [ Reward: $10,000,000 ] Owen woke up slowly to the system’s display. He wasn’t sure how long he had been unconscious, but he was certain of one thing—ten million dollars was a lot of money. “Damn… I’m rich,” he muttered. There was no time to imagine everything he could do with it, not when he couldn’t recognize where he was. The mattress beneath him was soft, and the air smelled fresh—nothing like the cheap hotel he had intended to book. His gaze swept across the room. It was elegant, with a cute chandelier hanging above. It looked like it belonged to a wealthy princess. Whose room is this? he wondered. Then his eyes landed on a framed photo on the wall, and realization struck. He remembered the fight, the speed, the bullets and the way she had screamed. Now he was lying in her room, on her bed. “The cashier?” Owen whispered, stunned.

He wanted to question how the system knew so much about the robbers, but he pushed that thought aside. Right now, he had to focus on fighting and winning.“You got a death wish? I said get on the floor, now!” the gunman barked, pointing his weapon loosely at Owen. The cashier gasped.“No, please don’t,” she cried, her voice cracking. She turned to Owen and hissed through clenched teeth, “Get on the floor!”Owen ignored her. How could he trust someone who had tried to trap him?“Look,” he said, stepping closer to the gunman. His heart raced, but he forced it down, reminding himself that the system wouldn’t let anything happe
