CHAPTER 29

The little girl was bleeding severely from her leg and whimpering in the cold. The water was splashing directly onto her skin, making it even more difficult for her to bear the excruciating pain.

“Oh shit! Can you lift your leg?” Nathan stooped down low and tried to help her. But it was obvious that the little girl was dying already. A heavy brick had fallen on her and there was no way he could push it away by himself.

“Damn it! Hold on, little girl. I’m coming right back!” Nathan hurried back to the car and called the driver to help him raise the little girl.

“Look! I’m not helping you do no shit! You paid me to drive you somewhere despite the heavy flood. We are halfway through and now you want to cut the journey to help a girl you don’t even know? Let her die. She won’t be the first!” The driver spat arrogantly with no trace of empathy.

“Have you no conscience? There’s a little girl that needs help out there and all you care about is..”
