“M-Master?”

Noah’s voice cracked into a thin, pathetic wheeze, the word scraping out of his throat as if he were choking on dry ash. Beside him, Alaric stood completely petrified, his jaw hanging open, his hands trembling violently within his silver-trimmed sleeves. Behind them, Seraphina and Chloe clutched each other’s arms in sheer, paralyzed terror, their faces drained of every drop of color.

Around the storm-battered courtyard, hundreds of rain-drenched students watched the scene in utter, suffocating disbelief.

Dean Martins, the terrifying Arch-Mage, the absolute sovereign of the Aetherion Academy whose very name made regional lords tremble was kneeling knee-deep in the muddy water, his forehead pressed so hard against the dry stone floor at Kelvin’s bare feet that his knuckles turned white.

Martins slowly lifted his head, tears streaming down his water-logged face, his amber eyes wide with a horrified, desperate remorse.

“Forgive me, My Lord! Forgive this blind, foolish, wretched servant” Martins cried out, his voice cracking so violently it echoed off the soaring stone spires. “I did not know! I had no idea the Primeval Core resided within your sacred vessel. Please,I beg of you, spare my miserable life”

Before Kelvin could even begin to process the absolute insanity of what was happening, Martins scrambled frantically to his feet, turning around and barking at the paralyzed guards like a madman.

“Unchain him! UNCHAIN HIM THIS INSTANT, YOU UTTER FOOLS!” Martins shrieked, his voice reaching a shrill panic. “Fetch the royal velvet stretchers! Transport Master Kelvin to the imperial medical suite immediately! Bring the highest-grade restoration elixirs, the grand holy mages, and the softest silks in the kingdom!”

Within minutes, a chaotic flurry of grand healers swarmed the courtyard. Kelvin was carefully lifted and whisked away into the academy’s most exclusive clinic a pristine, gilded infirmary smelling of rare moonlight-lotus herbs and glowing with soothing, warm restoration magic. He was laid upon a massive, plush feather bed, his battered body gently cleansed, treated with priceless salves, and wrapped in delicate silk bandages.

By nightfall, the apocalyptic tempest had finally settled into a quiet, misty drizzle. Kelvin sat on the edge of the grand bed, staring down at his clean, bandaged hands, his mind spinning as he tried to comprehend Martins' sudden, absolute terror.

The heavy, enchanted mahogany doors of the imperial clinic flew open, slamming violently against the stone walls.

Noah barged into the room, his face contorted into a hideous mask of fear and venomous, prideful rage. He was flanked by Alaric and three of their heaviest, most aggressive noble cronies, all carrying glowing, magic-infused weapons.

“You filthy, cheating parasite!” Noah spat, marching straight toward the bed while his cronies quickly fanned out to block the room's only exit. “What kind of dark, forbidden black magic did you use out there, Hun? You bewitched the Dean, didn't you? You put some repulsive hex on him"

“I didn't do anything, I don't even know what happened out there” Kelvin said quietly, keeping his voice calm, trying to keep his breathing steady despite the throbbing in his ribs.

“Liar!” Alaric snarled from behind, his hand resting on the hilt of a glowing runic dagger.

“A non-magical worm like you doesn't get to rest on a royal silk bed while Arch-Mage Martins crawls in the mud! You've cursed the whole school!” he continued

‘We're ending this right now. We're going to break every single bone in your pathetic body until you undo whatever sickness you put on the Dean!” Noah growled, stepping directly into Kelvin's personal space, his fist crackling with a dense, shimmering aura of physical enhancement magic.

Driven by raw, desperate humiliation, Noah raised his right fist, throwing a vicious, full-force blow aimed straight at Kelvin’s temple. In the past three months, Kelvin would have cowered, closed his eyes, and taken the brutal beating but this time, as the magic-infused fist whistled through the air toward his head, something extraordinary happened.

The world around Kelvin slowed down to a absolute crawl. He could see the individual sparks of mana dancing across Noah's knuckles, could count the sweat droplets flying off his angry brow. Kelvin’s instincts took over completely. With a fluid, effortless tilt of his upper body, he leaned back just an inch. Noah’s heavy fist sliced through empty air, the sheer momentum throwing the arrogant noble completely off balance and before Noah could recover, Kelvin stood up from the bed. His body felt lighter, sharper, and filled with a dense, dormant physical power that seemed to hum beneath his skin. He snapped his arm forward, driving a compact, lightning-fast right hook straight into Noah’s exposed jaw.

The punch connected with the explosive force of a battering ram. Noah’s eyes instantly rolled into the back of his head, his teeth clicking violently together as his body was lifted completely off his feet, launching him six feet backward before crashing unconscious onto the hard clinic floor.

Alaric and his three cronies froze, their eyes bulging in absolute horror.

“He-he knocked out Noah with one normal punch?” one of the heavy noble cronies shrieked, his voice cracking in sheer panic. “He doesn't even have any power, get him!” Alaric instructed

The three cronies roared, lunging at Kelvin simultaneously from three different angles. Kelvin didn't feel a shred of fear. As the first student swung a magic-reinforced club, Kelvin stepped cleanly inside his guard, grabbed his wrist, and leveraged his weight to execute a flawless shoulder throw.

The noble flew through the air, crashing violently into the second student. As the third crony tried to tackle him from behind, Kelvin spun on his heel, driving a devastating back-kick squarely into the boy's chest, sending him sliding twenty feet across the slick tile floor, coughing up blood and groaning in agony.

Within less than thirty seconds, all four noble students lay bruised, broken, and weeping in pain on the floor. Kelvin stood in the center of the silent room, his chest heaving, staring down at his own bare, unblemished knuckles. His heart hammered against his ribs, not from terror, but from utter, breathtaking astonishment. He had no magical core and had received zero martial training in this world.

“What... what is this power? Where did this strength come from?” Kelvin thought, his hands shaking in awe.

“Master Kelvin!”

The double doors burst open once more. Dean Martins rushed in, his fine crimson robes completely disheveled, accompanied by a dozen trembling senior faculty mages. When Martins saw the four noble students groaning in blood on the floor, his face drained of color for the hundredth time that day.

“You insolent, suicidal fools!” Martins screamed at the unconscious nobles, before swiftly dropping back onto both knees in front of Kelvin.

“Master Kelvin, please! I beg for your infinite mercy! They acted entirely on their own. I swear on my very soul, I had no part in their disgusting insolence” Martin added, shaking in fear as he was doing so.

Before Kelvin could tell the Arch-Mage to get up, a heavy, suffocating pressure suddenly washed over the entire room.

The air grew icy cold as the hallway outside flared with a brilliant, blinding golden radiance. The senior faculty mages instantly fell flat onto their stomachs, pressing their faces into the floor and parting like the Red Sea as a tall, imposing figure stepped through the threshold.

He was an ancient man dressed in regal, deep-purple robes embroidered with glowing golden dragon sigils. A crown made of solid, pulsating mana-crystal rested upon his silver hair, and he carried a staff carved from the spinal bone of a primordial dragon.

It was the City Kingmaker, the supreme political authority of the continent, the legendary arbiter who held the divine right to appoint kings, crown emperors, and command the highest Arch-Mages across the realm.

Dean Martins gasped, pressing his face even lower into the floor, “Y-Your Excellency”

The Kingmaker completely ignored the Arch-Mage and the faculty. His piercing, glowing violet eyes scanned the room until they landed directly on Kelvin, taking in his face and the faded, six-petaled black lotus flower mark visible through his white silk bandages.

A look of profound, overwhelming, and sacred reverence swept across the old kingmaker's face. Without a single second of hesitation, the mighty Kingmaker, the man before whom emperors knelt threw his priceless dragon staff aside like trash. He dropped heavily down onto both knees, bending his ancient head until his crystal crown touched the wooden floor directly at Kelvin’s feet.

“The ancient prophecy is fulfilled” the Kingmaker spoke, his voice trembling violently with tears and profound emotion, echoing throughout the silent hall. “Welcome back to your rightful domain, Your Royal Highness!”

Outside, the night sky was alive with the soft glow of flying griffin escorts and distant floating spires. The blinding gleam of gold trade bars reflected off the deep, dark shadow silk of Kelvin’s robes. He stood at the edge of the cavernous vault, his mind numb, listening to the heavy, expectant silence that followed the Kingmaker’s question.“When should we begin planning your grand coronation as our new King?”The words hung in the subterranean air, thick and suffocating.
