The gunfire echoed through the compound like thunder, sharp and unrelenting. Voss’s heart raced as he ducked behind a pillar, his eyes scanning the chaos that had erupted around them. The plan had disintegrated in an instant, reduced to nothing more than desperate survival.

“Anais!” Voss shouted, but the sound of automatic weapons drowned out his voice. The darkness swallowed the compound, the shadows stretching long and menacing as gunmen in tactical gear moved in from all sides.
