In Eternal Throne, players are gods who kill and humiliate NPCs for fun. Jax Thorn is just a lowly janitor NPC, endlessly murdered, his wife claimed, treated like worthless code. Until a server merge glitch lets him hijack the Player System itself. Now he can steal levels, skills, and power from the so-called gods. From disposable trash to the Glitch Overlord, Jax will make every player who tormented him kneel. But the Game Entities have noticed the anomaly… and they delete threats permanently. One broken NPC just started a war against millions of gods. And he’s only getting started.

Chapter 1: The Janitor Who Refused to Stay Dead

The central plaza of Lumora glowed under bright artificial sunlight. Jax Thorn pushed his old cleaning cart along the same marble path he had walked day after day. His back ached from the constant bending and his hands felt rough from endless work. In the game called Eternal Throne, players lived like gods. Their power and money inside the game turned into real influence outside. NPCs like Jax were treated as nothing more than tools to serve, clean, and die again and again.

Five years ago the game had merged with the real world. Players now came into this place with full senses and treated the starter city as their personal playground. They killed and humiliated NPCs whenever they felt like it, just for fun or quick experience points.

A heavy boot suddenly slammed into Jax's ribs and sent him flying sideways. The cart tipped over and soapy water spilled across the marble floor. Pain shot through his body, sharp and real, because of how deeply the game had fused with reality.

Loud laughter broke out around him.

CrimsonKing69 stood tall with a wide, arrogant smile on his face. He was level eighty-seven and came from a rich family outside the game. He treated the entire starter zone like his own private hunting ground. Beside him, SilverVesper leaned close in her elegant mage robes, laughing while she held his arm.

"Still cleaning the same spot after I killed you yesterday?" CrimsonKing69 said with a sneer. "You respawn too slowly, trash."

Jax kept his head down, but inside his chest a deep, burning anger grew stronger. He wanted to fight back, yet the scripted words always tried to force him to stay quiet and obedient.

Not far away, Mira, his assigned wife, stood with her eyes fixed on the ground. She wore the expensive jewelry that CrimsonKing69 had forced upon her. Fresh marks showed on her body from the way the player treated her. Every time Jax returned after dying, he saw the pain she carried, and it cut him deeper each time.

The game developers never listened to complaints from NPCs. Players paid real money, so they were considered the gods here. NPCs were just lines of code that could be reset or deleted without a second thought.

"The big event will start soon," CrimsonKing69 announced. "Let us farm some quick points before the real rewards drop."

He drew his glowing red sword and brought it down fast. Sharp pain exploded in Jax's chest as the blade pierced through him. His small health bar dropped to zero in an instant.

You have died.

Respawning in thirty seconds.

Everything went dark.

Thirty seconds later, Jax appeared again in the exact same spot. The group had not moved at all. CrimsonKing69 raised his sword once more, ready to strike again.

Then the entire world shook violently.

A huge red message flashed across the sky for every player to see.

World Event—Eternal Throne Server Merge has begun. Gods' Descent is now active. All players gather at the central plazas for special rewards and new content.

The plaza suddenly filled with loud cheers. Thousands of players rushed forward, shouting with excitement. CrimsonKing69 lowered his sword and grinned widely. "Finally," he said. "Time to claim the good stuff."

As the crowd pushed closer, something deep inside Jax's code suddenly broke open.

A strong wave of pain hit his head. Strange new information poured into his mind and body. It felt like every part of him was being rewritten from the inside.

A calm, mechanical voice spoke clearly inside his thoughts.

[Glitch Overlord System has activated. Player System core successfully hijacked during the merge event. You are no longer bound by normal NPC rules.]

One clean window appeared in front of his eyes.

[Host: Jax Thorn]

[Title: Glitch Janitor (Hidden: Glitch Overlord—Anomaly)]

[Level: 1 → Admin Override Now Active]

[Mission: Steal your first player level and skill during the God's Descent Event.]

[Reward: Permanent Glitch Overlord access + 1000 System Points]

[Warning: Detection by Overseers will result in permanent deletion.]

No other windows appeared. The message stayed simple and clear.

Jax stood up slowly. For the first time, his body moved only because he wanted it to. No forced scripts held him back. A new strength flowed through his arms and legs. The years of pain and repeated deaths turned into cold, clear purpose.

The plaza was now full of noise and bright golden light raining down from above. Players cheered loudly as they received free rewards from the event. CrimsonKing69 and his friends pushed their way to the front, still laughing.

Jax took one steady step forward.

CrimsonKing69 glanced back, annoyed. "Still here?" he snapped. "Just die already."

He flicked his hand and sent a small fireball spell straight toward Jax. It should have burned any normal NPC to nothing in a single second.

In that exact moment, Jax felt the new power inside him respond. He spoke in a low, steady voice.

"Yes."

The fireball vanished into red pixels before it could touch him. CrimsonKing69 stumbled forward, suddenly confused. His face twisted as he felt something important slip away from him.

A rush of fresh power flooded Jax's body. His level jumped straight from one to fourteen. He now understood how to use the fireball skill perfectly. His back straightened and his muscles felt strong and ready. All the humiliation he had suffered for so long now burned into sharp, focused anger.

He was not running away anymore. He was finally starting to take control.

Golden light continued to fall around them, but the air in the plaza suddenly felt heavier. Jax could sense something ancient and dangerous beginning to wake up deep in the game code. The Overseers who guarded the rules did not like broken things. They removed any anomaly without mercy.

CrimsonKing69 turned around fully this time. His eyes narrowed with real suspicion.

"Why do you look different, you worthless piece of code?" he demanded.

Jax looked straight into his eyes without fear. Small flames danced quietly in his open palm. They belonged to him now.

He answered in a calm, cold voice.

"Your time as a god ends today."
