Whoosh!
Bang!
A black blur shot in from a certain direction before crashing into the bear, sending it flying several meters backward.
“Please forgive me, my lord. I had no choice but to disobey your orders after hearing a distress call.”
Although Yemima was bound by an oath to obey all of Adrian’s commands, that naturally did not apply when the knight saw her lord in danger. In such a situation, her lord’s safety was her highest priority.
A few moments earlier.
“Yemima, come here! Adrian is in danger! You must help him! Hurry and follow my voice!”
While stretching both arms forward to infiltrate the bear’s mind, Darla simultaneously used her mental power to communicate with Yemima, who was still at the shelter.
“My lady!”
Upon hearing a familiar voice echoing through the air, Yemima immediately set off in the direction from which it came.
With her speed, covering a considerable distance in a short time was no difficult task.
She had arrived just in time. When she spotted the bear raising both arms, preparing to attack her lord, she immediately intervened.
“Forget that! Your task now is to stop it! That bear has made Darla suffer! You must not let it get away with this!”
“At your command, my lord.”
Yemima bowed respectfully before Adrian, then turned around and launched another attack.
Whoosh!
The black sword in her hand moved like lightning, drawing a diagonal line across the monster’s body.
Previously, it had been able to cut through the Abominations with ease. Could the same thing happen again this time?
“Darla, Yemima is here now. We’re safe. I’ll take you away from here.”
Adrian was about to carry the woman who was still lying weakly in his arms.
“No, Adrian.”
Instead, Darla grabbed his shirt, stopping him.
“This bear isn’t an ordinary monster. Its power is just as terrifying. We have to help Yemima.”
With her ability to read minds and assess the strength of her opponents, Darla realized that Yemima was no stronger than this monster. Letting the Dark Knight fight alone would only increase the risk of defeat.
With Darla here, she could help the knight analyze the battle and identify the monster’s weaknesses.
“Are you sure?”
Adrian had no doubts about the woman’s abilities. He was simply worried about her condition.
“I’m fine.”
“All right, then. But you must take this.”
Adrian took a glass bottle containing green liquid from his shirt pocket and held it to Darla’s lips.
It was the same physical enhancement potion he had given her earlier.
Gulp!
After drinking the entire contents, Darla felt much better. The pain that had seemed to squeeze her entire body gradually faded.
Rising from Adrian’s embrace, she refocused her mental abilities on analyzing the battle.
“Adrian, do you see that?”
Darla pointed toward the two figures fighting. At first glance, there seemed to be nothing unusual about either of them.
“Yemima could easily defeat the Abominations before. But now, she’s struggling just to corner this monster.”
Whoosh!
Yemima swung her sword diagonally to the right, then to the left. Yet, apart from forcing the bear to step backward, neither strike had any effect on its body. It wasn’t merely that the sword failed to wound or cut it. It hadn’t even left the slightest scratch. Not a single strand of fur had fallen from its body.
“Good heavens! Is that what you mean? This bear can actually withstand Yemima’s weapon?”
“Exactly,” Darla replied with a nod. “I underestimated its strength. We can’t let it win.”
Tap! Tap!
Bang! Bang!
Realizing that her sword strikes were futile, Yemima leaped into the air until her waist was slightly higher than the monster’s head, then launched a series of kicks and punches.
She didn’t attack only from the front. Yemima continued leaping around, striking the giant monster from the front, the sides, and even behind.
“Growl!”
Unable to match her speed and agility, the bear could do little more than endure her attacks. However, because its body was so incredibly tough, the blows seemed to have little effect.
Nevertheless, the bear took advantage of its own impressive speed to track the points from which Yemima’s attacks came. It would then turn around and retaliate with swift swings of its claws.
More than ten minutes passed, yet the battle showed no sign of producing a winner. Yemima was incredibly fast, and her attacks were deadly. Meanwhile, the bear was exceptionally durable and refused to give up.
Both demonstrated their respective strengths.
Then, Yemima realized something.
Whoosh!
Recognizing that the bear’s entire body was extremely hard and impenetrable, the Dark Knight redirected her sword toward her opponent’s eyes.
Clang!
However, as though it could read the incoming attack, the bear raised its palm in front of its face to shield itself.
Roar!
After successfully blocking the attack, the bear opened its mouth wide and let out a thunderous roar.
This time, its eyes glowed a blood-red color.
The roar unleashed an invisible shock wave surrounded by an intense red glow, hurling the Dark Knight several meters backward before she crashed to the ground.
“Yemima!” Adrian shouted, never expecting the knight to be brought down.
“I’m fine, my lord. I’ll be more careful.”
Yemima launched another attack.
But this time, the bear knew exactly what to do.
Roar!
Roar!
Roar!
Every time Yemima approached, the monster unleashed the same shock wave, preventing the knight from getting any closer. The nearest she could manage was five meters away. Under these circumstances, the bear seemed to have gained the upper hand.
“This is really bad!”
Darla furrowed her brows, her expression growing increasingly worried.
“Darla, what do you mean?”
“Look. Yemima’s movements are getting slower and slower. Those shock waves are eroding the bones in her body. If things continue like this, Yemima won’t be able to hold on much longer! She’s going to lose!”

Chapter 29 - The Attack Plan Begins
“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni
Chapter 28 - The Fate of the Lords and Kaelen’s Delight
“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h
Chapter 27 - Reaping the Rewards
“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al
Chapter 26 - Time for a Counterattack
“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill
Chapter 25 - The Attack He Had Been Waiting For
Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid
Chapter 24 - The First Evernight
“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
