“Sure, its body is enormous. But doesn’t that also make its movements slower?”
Muttering to himself, Adrian didn’t blink for even a second, keeping his eyes fixed on the gigantic monster. At the same time, he gulped down the green liquid he was holding.
It was a physical enhancement elixir. Although its effects were only temporary, it could triple a person’s physical strength. Adrian had purchased the potion the previous day when he decided to go hunting in the wilderness.
“But no matter what, I should still be able to escape your pursuit!”
Convinced that Darla should have run far enough away by now, he planned to head in a different direction, draw the monster’s attention toward himself, and then run as fast as he could.
“Hey, you idiot! Come here! Chase me!”
Adrian didn’t hesitate to turn around and run. He was certain the monster would soon give chase.
“Growl!”
Another powerful gust of wind and a thunderous roar rang out as the bear opened its mouth wide.
“Just as I thought! This creature…”
Muttering to himself, Adrian ran as fast as he could.
Slash!
However, he had taken only a few steps when a hard, sharp object struck his back, tearing through it with unbearable pain and a searing heat. At the same time, his body was hurled forward.
“Damn it!”
After crashing into the ground, Adrian immediately rolled over. His heart pounded wildly when he saw the monster standing right in front of him, less than a meter away.
I underestimated it! Its speed is incredible!
When Adrian had shouted at the monster earlier, he remembered that there had still been a distance of twenty to thirty meters between them. With his physical strength enhanced, he had been confident that he would have enough time to escape.
But after what had just happened, he knew he had been terribly wrong.
“Growl!”
Roaring again, the bear raised both its arms, preparing to slam them into Adrian’s chest. If that happened, there would be no doubt about the outcome. The man’s chest wouldn’t merely be pierced. It would be crushed to pieces.
Death seemed to be looming over him.
“Stop!”
At that very moment, a thunderous shout rang through the forest.
Stretching both arms forward, Darla stared intently at the bear. Her face was tense.
“Grrr… grrrr… grrr…”
The bear froze instantly. Its arms remained suspended in the air. As it stared at the woman, the creature seemed to be struggling against an immense pressure invading its mind.
“Back off! I order you to retreat!”
“Grrr!”
Its face twisted with barely contained fury. Yet, strangely, the bear seemed unable to resist the command. It struggled desperately against its own legs as they slowly began moving backward.
A short while earlier, when Adrian’s Legendary Touch had enhanced her abilities, Darla had sensed something strange within herself.
When she looked toward the Abominations out there, she could not only see the Stones contained within their bodies. She also discovered that another power had emerged within her.
Divine Eye.
“Is this real? I can see their thoughts?”
Since she already possessed a legendary ability of her own, the stimulation provided by Adrian’s Legendary Touch had awakened another unique power within her.
“Then does that mean I can control their minds, too?”
However, before she could try it on the monsters, Adrian had summoned Yemima to deal with them.
Now, seeing Adrian in danger, she didn’t hesitate to use this ability. She was even willing to push it beyond its limits.
“Retreat!”
Darla shouted again. But the moment she did, her body began trembling violently, and thick, red fluid started trickling from her nostrils.
Darla might indeed be capable of controlling monsters’ minds. But that didn’t mean her power was limitless. Bronze-tier and Silver-tier monsters might not pose much of a problem. But Gold-tier monsters? They were an entirely different matter.
And as she watched a drop of blood fall onto the grass beneath her shoes, it was clear that she had pushed her power far beyond what her body could endure.
“Darla!”
Ignoring the pain in his back, Adrian rushed toward the woman.
The moment he reached her side, she suddenly let her arms fall as though all her strength had left her. A moment later, her body went limp.
“Darla! Hang in there!”
Adrian managed to catch her in his arms. But before he could do anything else, the bear was already standing right in front of them.
“Growl!”

Chapter 29 - The Attack Plan Begins
“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni
Chapter 28 - The Fate of the Lords and Kaelen’s Delight
“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h
Chapter 27 - Reaping the Rewards
“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al
Chapter 26 - Time for a Counterattack
“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill
Chapter 25 - The Attack He Had Been Waiting For
Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid
Chapter 24 - The First Evernight
“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
