“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”

After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.

Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.

“What? No soldiers are appearing?”

His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.

Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones.

That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.

“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”

Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing.

There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.

“With reserves like these, I won’t have to worry about running out of supplies if another monster attack comes at any time.”

But suddenly, an idea occurred to him.

“Wait. Could it be...?”

Meanwhile, several hours earlier, somewhere else.

“Damn it! This is really bad! I have to get out of here immediately!”

A lord screamed hysterically when he saw the red mist hundreds of meters ahead of him.

Previously, thanks to a bit of luck, he had managed to draw a food storage warehouse complete with its contents when he was still on Earth, making it his shelter.

During the first three days, he had felt completely safe because he didn't need to go outside to look for food, which had spared him from encountering even a single monster.

“Why bother going through all that trouble to look for Stones? Don't I already have more than enough food?”

That was what he had said three days earlier while biting into a large pork leg in his hand.

“When you have this much food, it means you're already living comfortably! Hahaha!”

Besides his abundant food supplies, there hadn't been a single monster wandering near his shelter. This had led him to believe that he had nothing to fear.

“What is there to be afraid of when it comes to Evernight? It's just the appearance of the red mist, isn't it? Let it happen! I'll keep eating as much as I want!”

But when the red mist arrived, bringing with it an endless wave of monsters, his face turned pale and his body went weak in an instant.

At this point, he couldn't even think about fleeing as far away from his shelter as possible. He might not even make it out alive from the horde of monsters surrounding him.

“Someone, please help me! I'm begging you, please help me! If you come to my rescue, I'll gladly give you my shelter! Please!”

He pleaded with anyone who might be willing to help him through the world chat. However, no one responded.

“Someone, please help me too! I have plenty of beautiful slaves here! I'll give them to you! Just save me!”

“I'll give you my weapons! Come and save me!”

Instead of offers of assistance, the world chat became increasingly flooded with other lords screaming in terror and desperately begging for help. Having enjoyed their lives over the past three days, they had forgotten that Evernight could destroy them at any moment. By the time they realized it, it was already too late.

Roar!

Crash! Crash! Crash!

At the first lord's shelter, a zombie managed to climb through a broken window and enter the food warehouse. A moment later, the sound of flesh being torn apart rang out.

“AAARGH!”

Meanwhile, at Kaelen's palace...

“Hahaha! What a bunch of weaklings! No wonder you can't survive! Weak people like you deserve to be purged from this New World!”

Enjoying his usual luxurious dinner, Kaelen couldn't contain his delight as he watched one lord after another fall to the Evernight horde.

“They refused to submit to me because they thought they could survive on their own! Now look at what's happening to them! What a bunch of fools!”

Loud laughter filled the lavish dining hall. Rather than feeling worried, let alone frightened, Kaelen and all the lords under his command seemed to have been waiting for this very moment.

With a Gold-tier shelter, they could use Energy Stones to ignite the Sacred Flame. This flame would create a protective wall around the shelter, preventing monsters and even the red mist from entering.

However, keeping the Sacred Flame burning for a single night could cost as much as a thousand Energy Stones, a tremendous expense for an ordinary lord.

Kaelen, however, had no such concerns. With so many lords under his command, he had accumulated enough Energy Stones to last an entire year.

“Whether in the old world or the New World, fate has always given me the best of everything,” Kaelen said, embracing two beautiful girls seated on his thighs, one on each side. “So what could I possibly have to worry about?”

As he took the girls to his private chambers, he happened to glance at the holographic panel. One by one, the dots on the map began to dim. Each dot marked the location of a shelter.

And here in Region 9, the number of dots had been cut in half in a very short time, from nearly a hundred to fewer than fifty.

While people outside were fighting desperately for their lives, Kaelen felt that this night was no different from any other night he spent indulging himself.

And by the time morning arrived, the number of survivors had fallen even further.

“My lord, this is truly wonderful news!”

Arthur, who was always trying to get as close to Kaelen as possible, waited outside the door with a holographic panel in his hands.

“You must see this!”

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al

“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill

Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid

“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
