“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”
Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.
“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”
Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.
“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”
Jaxon was quick to add his own comment.
Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.
“Get some rest.”
Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.
“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”
A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.
Although Adrian felt that he shouldn't let his guard down, he couldn't force his troops to continue patrolling the area around the shelter.
Besides, the turrets surrounding the fence had proven extremely effective at destroying monsters. At Gold tier, even if a hundred Abominations suddenly appeared right now, they would surely be annihilated by his weapons.
He was pleased not only with his soldiers' fighting spirit, but also with the fact that he hadn't been tempted to attack the monsters as soon as they appeared.
“If I hadn't held back my attacks, they would definitely have fled.”
The red mist had arrived with the monsters, but that didn't mean these creatures would attack only one shelter.
Looking at the map, Adrian saw another shelter within ten kilometers of his greenhouse.
If he had frightened the monsters away from the beginning, they would certainly have fled and redirected their attacks toward that other shelter.
If that had happened, instead of obtaining the maximum possible rewards, Adrian would have lost many monsters that he could have hunted down.
“Thank you, my lord.”
Jaxon and Drake bowed to Adrian.
“But we're really fine. We're more than ready if they come back to attack us.”
Although they were undead, the sensations these two generals experienced seemed little different from those of ordinary humans. It was as if adrenaline were still surging through their bodies. They couldn't simply settle down right away. Their bodies were still eager to celebrate their victory.
“Fine. Have it your way. Just for today, I won't stop you from doing whatever you want.”
Adrian walked out through the fence to inspect the number of monsters they had slaughtered.
Corpses covered the wilderness before him, making the area look more like a sea of carcasses.
“Wait!” Adrian suddenly exclaimed.
He had just realized a problem.
“There are thousands of corpses. If we leave them lying around here, won't that be dangerous?”
If left there for too long, the corpses would not only produce an overwhelming stench but might also become a source of disease.
Besides, the undead soldiers had already collected all the Stones from their bodies. It seemed there was nothing more he could gain from these corpses.
“All of them need to be removed immediately.”
As he spoke, Adrian crouched down and picked up an Attribute Stone lying on the ground.
[A new target detected. Insert monster corpses into the Sacred Altar to perform an exchange.]
At the same moment, his hand accidentally touched one of the corpses, and a notification screen appeared before him.
“An exchange?”
Adrian furrowed his brows.
“What does that mean?”
He had indeed been thinking about getting rid of all the corpses. If they could still be exchanged for something useful, he would gladly do so.
“Yemima, come here. Can you help me with this?”
“Of course, my lord.”
Yemima immediately lifted a bear's corpse with her left hand. The enormous body, measuring three and a half meters tall, looked incredibly light in her grasp, as though she were holding a small bird.
Upon reaching the first floor, Yemima tossed the bear's body onto the altar.
Just as the enormous corpse was about to hit the floor, the altar transformed.
A swirling vortex formed on the floor, sucking the bear's body into it.
Then, just a few seconds later, an undead soldier emerged from within. He was similar in height and build to Jaxon or Drake.
“Greetings, my lord. I am here to serve you.”
The soldier knelt before Adrian with his head bowed. Even before hearing any orders from his lord, he seemed prepared to remain in that position indefinitely.
While the soldier appeared obedient, Adrian could only gape in astonishment.
“What am I looking at?”
Overwhelmed by shock, Adrian shouted inwardly.
“I can exchange those corpses for undead soldiers? This is absolutely insane!”
Adrian immediately ordered the soldiers who were still healthy to collect all the corpses outside and throw them into the altar.
Every time a bear's corpse was thrown in, a Gold-tier soldier emerged.
After all the bear corpses had been processed, he now had a total of fifteen new Gold-tier undead soldiers. Even so, none of them could match the generals, who had already reached five-star rank. These new soldiers possessed only one star, or at most three.
“Throw that one in as well.”
Adrian ordered them to toss in an Abomination's corpse.
An undead soldier immediately emerged.
“Greetings, Lord Galael!”
“Just an ordinary soldier,” Adrian thought.
He began to understand how it worked. If he threw in a Gold-tier corpse, the result would be a soldier of the same tier. The same applied if he used a Silver-tier corpse.
“Good. Join the others and bring all those corpses over here.”
“Yes, my lord!”
A total of one hundred Abomination corpses produced an equal number of new undead soldiers. Combined with the Bronze-tier soldiers Adrian had owned previously, his undead army now numbered one hundred and eighteen, not counting those at Gold tier.

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni
Chapter 28 - The Fate of the Lords and Kaelen’s Delight
“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h

Chapter 26 - Time for a Counterattack
“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill
Chapter 25 - The Attack He Had Been Waiting For
Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid
Chapter 24 - The First Evernight
“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
