“!!!”

Skylar’s head snapped toward the sound of a distant, piercing Abyssal scream. Her thoughts immediately tightened. She could not shake the feeling that Rhys was still dealing with something far more serious than expected. From what she had seen of his ability, those lesser Abyssals should already be gone by now.

Another worm-like Abyssal surged up from the ground and lunged at her.

Skylar sprang backward, barely avoiding its jaws.

The attack itself was not as strong as she feared, but her

“Maeve? You were waiting for me? Hold on…” Rhys paused and glanced back toward the office, something clicking in his mind. “Since when did you know?”“From the beginning,” Maeve replied calmly. “I saw you meet her in the cafeteria after the terrorist incident.”“Just happened to see it?” Rhys narrowed his eyes. That did not quite add up. They had split up back then, and Riva alone would not have been enough to link him to Wyndia. The timing felt a little too perfect to be pure coincidence.Maeve stayed quiet for a moment, then looked away. “I was curious.”Rhys let out a laugh. “Haha.”Maeve frowned slightly. “Why are you laughing?”“Nothing,” he said, still smiling. “It’s just that your face and the way you talk don’t match at all. It makes you… kind of cute.”Her body stiffened almost immediately. She did not blush, but the reaction was there in the slight tension in her shoulders and the way her gaze hardened. “There is nothing cute about someone who can’t express herself.”Rhys sh

“To think he managed all that during a single mission. Are you sure you didn’t step in to help him?” Grace narrowed her eyes slightly, studying Skylar’s expression.“No,” Skylar replied calmly. “If anything, he carried most of it. I only dealt with the Elite class Abyssal at the end. If he hadn’t handled that Common class mutant, things could have gone a lot worse.” She gave a small shrug, as if it were obvious.“I see.” Grace’s lips curved into a faint smile. “So he’s not just capable in combat. He also has the temperament of someone who can lead.”Skylar frowned. “What are you thinking?”Grace waved the question away lightly. “Nothing immediate. I just have a clearer picture of who he is now. For the time being, I’ll observe him. When he runs into a problem he can’t solve on his own, he’ll eventually come to the student council. Especially with Wyndia guiding him the way she does. She calls it independence, but it’s really just tough love dressed up nicely.”Skylar considered that f

“It looks like our young master will have to train even harder,” Riva said with a soft smile. “Maeve’s talent is far more dangerous than it seems. Not just her control, but the way she thinks during a fight.” “Yeah… I can’t afford to lose,” Rhys replied with a small, tired smile. Riva lifted the briefcase she had been carrying and held it out to him. “Then please take this.” Rhys blinked. “Huh? What is it?” He took it carefully. “The item you requested.” “Oh!” His face lit up right away. This was exactly what he had been waiting for, something important for his next stage of growth. “Thank you, seriously.” “You’re welcome.” Riva’s smile stayed gentle, but her eyes drifted to his clothes. The blood had not dried yet, still obvious across the fabric. “Young master, I won’t interfere with what happened on your mission, but the Mistress has already seen you like this. You will need to explain it to her.” “You’re not coming with me, Riva?” Rhys asked, a little hopeful. “No,” she an

“Kh! Aaah!” Cade pushed himself up, unsteady as he rose. His ears rang sharply and his head felt like it was splitting apart from the force of the last impact. “Cade!” the gnome called out in alarm. Even the dwarf turned for a split second, concern breaking through his focus. “You are distracted.” Sasha let out a sharp breath as she raked her claws across the dwarf’s arm. “!!!” The dwarf did not react at first to the pain itself, but to the strange sensation that followed it. His eyes widened. “Poison?!” Without hesitation, he struck his own arm with his axe, carving away the darkening flesh before it could spread further. Sasha stepped in front of him immediately, cutting off any chance of him assisting Cade. At the same time, Maeve broke into a sprint toward Cade, clearly intent on ending the match. The gnome tried to summon another wall of stone, but two blood-like tornadoes came rushing in his direction. Forced to defend himself, he raised a pillar around his own body inst

Rhys and Riva arrived at the battle hall just as the Beastmaster Conclave between Maeve and Cade was already underway. He had not expected those two to end up facing each other like this. “What is going on? How did this even happen? Why are they fighting?” Rhys tilted his head, clearly confused. Riva answered calmly. “According to the official submission, Maeve was the one who challenged Cade.” Rhys went quiet for a moment, then looked back at Maeve. She was holding a wooden staff now, something she had not used back in Ravenroot Forest. That alone made him wonder if she had planned this carefully from the start. Riva noticed his focus on the arena and gave a small smile. Jason stepped forward and addressed both participants. “If Cade wins, Maeve will assist him in the next event. If Maeve wins, Cade will hand over the Fire Staff. Is that correct?” “Yes.” Both Maeve and Cade confirmed. “In that case, begin.” Jason moved back to give them space. Cade drew his sword while his

Skylar arrived at the battlefield and immediately felt how serious things had been. The ground around her was littered with Abyssal remains, torn apart and scattered across the field. Near Rhys, another body lay that looked different from the rest. Her eyes narrowed as she studied it more carefully. This was not an ordinary Abyssal. A Common class was the bare minimum strength required to cause destruction on this scale, but even then something felt off. There were signs of unnatural growth, something that did not belong to a standard Abyssal. Her thoughts tightened. A mutant? If that was true, then the situation was far beyond what she had expected. Mutants were unpredictable and far more dangerous than normal Abyssals. Skylar turned her attention to Rhys. His clothes were stained with blood, and although he was no longer injured, exhaustion clung to him. For someone his level to deal with a Common class mutant… he must have relied on strategy rather than raw strength. After a
