Leo stared at the top secret red folder in his hands. The name of his stepmother, Beatrice Sterling, glared back at him from the official papers. A cold, fierce anger surged deep within his chest.

Beatrice was the wicked woman who had made his childhood a living hell after his biological mother passed away. She was the one who had tried to steal his family inheritance back in the capital city.

Leo realized that his five years of amnesia and his sudden placement in this specific province were not an accident. Beatrice had been hiding her dirty money here all along, using Julian’s father as a puppet to wash her illegal cash.

“Keep a close eye on the capital,” Leo ordered Logan, his voice dropping to a freezing temperature. “We will destroy her little puppets here first. Tomorrow night, the Vance family falls. Then, I will head back to the capital to take her head.”

“Yes, My Lord,” Logan replied, bowing his head in total obedience.

The dark SUV dropped Leo off at his small, rented apartment on the poor side of the city. He spent the rest of the day resting his body and organizing his global forces for the upcoming grand gala.

Late in the evening, as Leo was drinking a simple cup of water, his cheap delivery phone began to ring loudly. The screen displayed Chloe’s name.

Leo let the phone ring for a few seconds before he finally picked it up. He did not say anything. He just placed the phone against his ear.

“Leo? Are you listening to me?” Chloe’s voice blasted through the speaker, sounding incredibly arrogant and proud. “I am calling you to officially demand a breakup. Do not ever tell anyone that you were once my boyfriend. It is completely embarrassing to me.”

Leo remained perfectly calm. “Why are you calling me just to say this, Chloe?”

Chloe laughed loudly and nastily over the line. “I am calling to make sure you know your place, trash. I know you were secretly happy when you heard Julian’s father had a small problem this morning. Well, let me tell you something, beggar. The Vance family is untouchable.”

She paused for a second, and Leo could hear her taking a deep breath of satisfaction.

“Julian just bought me a beautiful diamond necklace and a stunning gold dress, Chloe boasted happily. Tomorrow night, the great Dragon Vanguard is hosting an exclusive business gala for the absolute top elites of the nation. Julian’s father spent ten million dollars to secure VIP entry tickets for us. I am going to be Julian’s official date.”

Leo smiled a cold, silent smile in his dark room. “Is that so?”

“Yes, that is so,” Chloe snapped, her voice full of pure mockery. “Every single billionaire, political leader, and high society prince will be in that grand ballroom. The mysterious Supreme Sovereign of the Dragon Vanguard will be there too. Julian is going to sign a multi-billion dollar construction contract with him, and our family will become ten times richer than before.”

She chuckled darkly, enjoying her own words.

“I am telling you this because I want you to understand the massive distance between us now, Leo. While I am walking on the red carpet with the most powerful people in the world, you will be riding your rusty bicycle in the dirt, delivering cheap noodles to poor people. You are a dirty insect, Leo. You will never even breathe the same air as the elites there. You cannot even enter the parking lot of that palace.”

Leo listened to her endless bragging without a single trace of anger in his eyes. He felt absolute pity for her. She had spent ten million dollars of stolen investor money just to get a ticket into his own house. She was dressing up in gold just to attend a party where he was the king.

She had no idea that the Supreme Sovereign she was dreaming about meeting was the exact same man she had dumped in the mud.

“Are you done talking?” Leo asked softly.

Chloe scoffed loudly. “Yes, I am done. Enjoy your miserable, poor life, delivery boy. Do not dare to show your face near me ever again.”

Leo replies calmly, “I'll be there, Chloe. Make sure you dress well.”

He walked toward the corner of the street where a simple, dark SUV with tinted windows was parked out of sight.
