While we were on the upper section of the tower, someone suddenly came out of one of a doors and walked straight to the edge of the rooftop. Because we were so high up, the edges had no safety barriers whatsoever.

The woman had a collar around her neck, a clear sign of being a slave.

"Wait, what is she doing?"

A few moments later, as the woman kept walking, Koko spoke up and informed me that this woman was a victim of cruel fate.

"Her father died because of an unpaid debt, and her mother passed away from illness because they couldn't afford medicine."

"They were used as collateral to pay off debts and remained slaves until they ended up with abusive masters. And because of the drugs injected into her younger sibling, the child went crazy and eventually died," Koko added.

Koko seriously let me know that these kinds of bitter life stories were truly happening in this world and were not just figments of imagination.

"In a few minutes, she is destined to die by suicide."

"What? Are you serious? She's going to take her own life?"

I could clearly see the intense sorrow in the woman's eyes, looking almost blank due to a complete lack of hope in life.

A profound sense of pity washed over me at that moment, but was her decision to commit suicide really the right way to end her suffering?

"The destiny of everyone in this world is predetermined, and no one else can stop it except you."

"What? Me?"

She explained once more that I was not bound by anyone else's fate because I possessed knowledge of the future. I had the ability to forge my own destiny, which could in turn alter the destinies of others depending on the role they played in my life.

"I want you to save her from certain death," she stated.

"Huh?"

I was shocked by what I heard, as it felt like she was ordering me to stop that woman from jumping. I understood what she meant about my capacity to change the fate of others, but that didn't mean I actually had the capability to pull it off.

"What? How am I supposed to do that?"

I meant, how on earth was I supposed to do it? Should I just talk to her, or simply yank her away from the spot where she was standing?

"Wait, is it even right for me to stop her?"

I couldn't help thinking that even if I did, nothing would really change. Her pain and suffering would still be there, and she would remember it all as long as she lived.

She took another step forward, causing me to shout out in an effort to stop her.

"Wait, hold on!"

She paused for a brief second and glanced back at me. I saw her pitiful expression as she cried.

"Whatever you're planning to do, don't go through with it!" I yelled.

The area fell silent for a moment. I couldn't find any other words to continue holding her back, feeling deep sympathy under her icy, emotionless gaze.

This didn't feel right. If I stopped her now using just words, she would surely try to do it again tomorrow or the next day. What on earth should I do to actually save her?

"I know you've been through so much in life, but taking your own life isn't the right answer," I said.

She didn't budge. We stood in silence for about ten seconds, waiting for a response from one another.

"Ah... um... your life has been miserable, but it's not too late for you..."

"Let's talk about this. Don't throw your life away."

Koko suddenly chimed in from behind me, sounding way too excited about what I was doing.

"Oh, big words! Just keep going, and you might actually save her," Koko added.

"Shut up, you're making me lose my focus!" I yelled back at her.

I stepped forward to help her back inside, but she suddenly stepped backward until she was right on the brink, on the verge of falling.

"Wait, don't move! Calm down, I'm here to help you."

"Help? You're going to help me?" she retorted.

She looked me up and down from head to toe and sneered.

"Take a look at yourself. You look like you need help way more than I do."

I felt irritated by her contempt for my appearance.

"She has such a rude attitude. Maybe I should just be the one to push her off,." I muttered to myself.

Even though I felt insulted by her remarks, I had to calm myself down and avoid saying the wrong things so I could successfully convince her to keep living.

"There is still so much that can happen in the future, so you shouldn't give up on life. Our God is merciful," I said.

"God? Which god are you talking about? Crimson, the god of darkness, or the god of ESKAPA?" she spat back.

She smiled bitterly, as if mocking the very concept of a god in this world, because in her belief, only those chosen by these deities were blessed, while trash like her had no room for their mercy.

It was clear she didn't believe in any help coming from the heavens, nor did she expect anyone to aid a low-class creature like her.

"You're wrong. God is real; you just need to believe," I insisted.

"You don't know what you're talking about! You have no idea how many times I begged for mercy from this god you speak of," she shouted angrily.

At that point, she laid out her grievances one by one, explaining why it felt like God never listened to them.

"I prayed tirelessly and hoped that my father would be saved from the people who wanted to kill him, but God didn't answer my prayer," she said sorrowfully.

"I never stopped asking God for help when my mother fell sick, hoping someone would have mercy and give us money for medicine, but God was completely deaf to my pleas," she added.

She recounted how, after they were sold into slavery, they suffered severe abuse and unspeakable degradation. There wasn't a single hour she didn't pray to God to free them from that bitter fate, but God seemed blind and entirely indifferent to their suffering.

"That's when I realized God abandoned us as His children," she stated.

"No, maybe He never even considered us His children from the very beginning because we belong to the race of sinners, which is why He has no compassion for the likes of me," she added.

I didn't know what to say as I watched her recount the agony and hopelessness she had endured.

It was heartbreaking to witness her tears, and you could feel in the tone of her voice that she had reached the absolute limit of what a human being could endure.

"My family is gone. I'm nothing more than a slave used by others, and I have nothing left in this world."

"So tell me, do I still have any reason to live?" she asked me sadly.

Nothing came out of my mouth, even though I knew I should reply to her question. What was the right answer to something like that?

"Where was your so-called God when I was begging for even a scrap of mercy for my family? Why did He abandon us?!" she screamed.

Whatever hardship I had faced was nothing compared to the suffering she went through, and I had no right to judge her choices regarding her own life.

I stepped backward, completely consumed by self-doubt. I couldn't do this.

"What can I possibly say when her trauma is this overwhelming, and all I can do is spout empty pleasantries?" I thought to myself.

"But what good are these nice words? Will they change her painful past? Will they change her current situation as a slave? Will pretty words change her future?"

I didn't think so. I was only doing this for my own benefit, but the truth was, I didn't know a single thing that could take away her pain or fix her situation.

"I mean, even if I stop her now, she's still going to be a slave, and she'll still experience all the abuse and cruelty of this world."

Was it right to stop her, or should I just let her end her suffering?

"Useless. Right, I shouldn't have expected you to answer my question anyway," she told me, shaking her head with a look of sorrow and disappointment.

I bowed my head in silence, knowing that anything I said would be completely useless in changing her situation.

The area fell quiet for a few seconds. A moment later, she turned away from me and faced the edge of the tower to ready herself for the jump.

I knew she was going to go through with it, but I just stood there doing nothing to stop her, as if I were giving her permission to commit suicide. A second later, while I was drowning in doubt and hesitation, Koko tapped me on the back, causing me to stumble forward.

"What's wrong with you? She's asking where her God is, so why don't you tell her that He's standing right in front of her?" she said.

"What? What kind of nonsense are you talking about?" I asked Koko.

"You still don't truly understand. The Great Creator has no limits, and no one can fully explain Him."

"You are the instrument of the Great Creator to save someone like her. You are the answer to her prayers that she has been waiting for for so long."

"Suffering and hopelessness are normal on the surface of the earth because this world was never made to be a paradise. Even so, the Great Creator never forgets any of them."

"Well, Nathaniel, are you ready to be a God to them?" she added.

I was shocked by what I heard. Come to think of it, Koko used to call me a god because I was the one who scripted the fate of this world, and knowing that suffering and death awaited the creatures here was exactly why I was afraid to act and fulfill my role.

Even so, despite how impossible it seemed, I had arrived here with a mission to save Endoryo. It was proof that the Great Creator might actually be using me to save His creations.

The woman raised her hands and closed her eyes, feeling the rush of the wind at the top of the tower.

"We'll be together again... Mother, Father, Aida."

A moment later, without a moment of hesitation, the woman threw herself off the ledge, completely unbothered by the fact that she was falling from a height of over three hundred meters.

"No!" I screamed.

I don't know what got into my head. Shocked by what she had done, my body practically moved on its own, and I rushed after her.

Without a second thought, I leaped off the tower and frantically reached out for the woman in mid-air.

"Hey! You can't die yet!" I yelled.

The woman was startled to see that I had followed her as we plummeted.

"What are you doing?!"

I didn't know if I had gone completely insane for jumping off such a staggering height, but I felt no fear at that moment because I knew and trusted that God would move to save us.

I knew He would work a miracle and help us survive because He had given me the right and the power to change what was destined and rewrite people's fates.

"I won't let you die! If you don't have any reason to live in this world anymore, then fine! I'll take responsibility. Entrust your life to me. I'll give you a brand new life!" I screamed.

  • Chapter 105 :A Royal Declaration

Nathaniel’s POV After I made Magdalena understand what I wanted to convey to them, it was all reduced to nothing when Magdalena questioned my relationship with Serenity. It wasn't clear to them where my loyalty lay, or what my motives were now that I had made a pact with Serenity, who is one of the dark lords. Nevertheless, it was clear to me that Magdalena had no intention of listening to me at all. "Wrong... maybe she doesn't want to listen to my explanations because she wants to capture Suwi, so even if I tell them that she isn't an evil creature, they still need to catch her," I whispered to myself. "It is not clear to me who you are or where you come from. No matter what you have done or what you are capable of, it will not change my perspective on things," Magdalena stated. She offered to let me join the Eskapa to prove what I was saying and let me be tried in accordance with the law. I just smirked because I knew that wasn't a good idea. "Thanks, but I can't do that. • Chapter 104 : Hearts Beyond the Law

Following Suwi’s agreement to surrender to the Eskapa soldiers, Magdalena immediately ordered her arrest. "Don't worry, the soldiers will treat you with respect and gentleness as they escort you to Renshu," Magdalena instructed. Just then, the Eskapa soldiers waiting below stepped forward to enter through the gate. Suddenly, Sei strode forward, blocking Suwi's path. She remained entirely silent, yet her mere presence compelled the soldiers below to halt and refrain from advancing further. "What is she doing?" "Your Majesty..." Everyone was stunned by Sei's defiance, which seemed like a direct challenge to Magdalena's command. "What is the meaning of this?" Pyun slammed his hand down onto the table, warning Sei of the grave consequences she would face if she persisted in defying the law. "Disregarding the orders of the Supreme Commander carries a heavy punishment—even for someone like you, the Weapon of God." "The moment you refuse this order, you can expect no further help

  • Chapter 103: The Ultimatum

After a few hours, Queen Sei called for a massive gathering, inviting all the citizens of Galica to attend. "Your Majesty, everything is ready," her aide reported. They stepped out onto the upper balcony of the palace gate, overlooking a crowd of over one million people gathered below. "Your Majesty, we have also deployed more than five thousand soldiers to secure the perimeter," another guard added. "Wow, I never imagined you could summon the entire population of Galica like this," I muttered in amazement. The generals and all available royal troops had also been called to the assembly to listen to the Queen's address. "Wait, why do I need to be up here?" Suwi whispered anxiously. "It's an order from Her Majesty," Agane replied. Moments later, Sei stepped forward wearing her magnificent royal attire and the queen's crown, which she only wore when addressing the public for major announcements. A thunderous wave of applause and cheers echoed through the plaza as the citizens

  • Chapter 102 : The Secret of the Mesha

Nathaniel's POV After mentioning to them that Koko is an angel, they exchanged glances, clearly looking unconvinced by what I had just said. "Ah... well... I know it sounds unbelievable, but it's true." "A human tasked with stopping the Great War? Why would the heaven choose just a regular person?" Suwi asked. "Huh? Who knows? Maybe for the plot twist?" Suddenly, Suwi kicked me in the shin and complained, "Do you really think our heads are soft enough to believe that kind of nonsense? You can't even help yourself, so how on earth are you going to help Endoryo?" I was annoyed by her kicking me, but at the same time, I couldn't think of any actual way to save Endoryo either. "Why are you always so violent? For your information, I can defend myself. You saw what I did when I saved you." "Saved me?" Suwi sneered. "You fell asleep during the fight way before I did, so how can you claim you were the one who saved me?" Since our conversation had shifted to what I did back then, Aga

  • Chapter 101 : The mission from heaven

Five days had passed when Nathaniel finally woke up from his deep sleep, finding himself locked inside a room within the Kingdom of Galica. It was a standard palace chamber, but it was heavily sealed with spells and magic to prevent anyone from entering or escaping. The doors and windows were completely barred from the outside. The young man couldn't understand why he was being locked away like a prisoner of Galica, especially since he vividly remembered playing a major role in helping them during the recent battle. After a few minutes, Nathaniel grew stiff from lying down and stood up to approach the door. "This is getting ridiculous. How long are you planning to keep me locked up in here?" he called out to the guards stationed outside. However, the guards remained completely silent, acting as though they hadn't heard a thing. "Wait, what is actually going on? Hey, Melon, do you know anything about what happened while I was asleep?" Just then, Melon emerged from his hood and

  • Chapter 100 : Orders and Defiance

Suwi was startled by what she learned from Sei and asked, "But if what you're saying is true, why are so many Genions still unable to stop themselves from consuming souls?" "I am going to tell you a secret that dates back to ancient times," Sei replied. Sei closed her eyes as she shared what she knew: two hundred years before the war, the Genions had used their abilities to amass great power, and the habit of consuming souls was passed down through many generations. "Ever since the Great Genion Tree vanished, your kind lost the ability to attain true immortality and live forever. You developed limitations, and just like any other living being, your bodies began to age and weaken over time. To prevent that, you started needing spirit energy." Sei admitted that she did not know the complete picture of everything that had happened in the past, but the consumption of souls by soul eaters had indeed occurred long ago due to a lack of understanding of their own origins and bodies. Sei
