Chapter 28: The mischievous angel.

Koko immediately denied everything I was saying about her being an angel.

"Don't believe Nathaniel," Koko remarked. "He's just childish and often fantasizes about impossible things."

I couldn't help but feel irritated because she made it look like I was lying to Ataparag. Because of that, Ataparag would be even less likely to trust anything I said.

"You're making me look like a liar."

Suddenly, Koko asked me a question.

"Do you really think it's okay to introduce me to them as an angel, or to tell them everything you know about this world?" she asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked back.

"Why don't you also tell them the truth about who is responsible for the suffering of these creatures and who dictates their deaths? Oh, come to think of it, it might be even better if that woman finds out she's going to die next month."

I froze the moment I realized what she had just implied, because come to think of it, I was the one who determined their fates based on their roles in the story.

" She's right," I muttered to myself. " Since I scripted that Halloween will destroy Galica, that means they will all die too, including Ataparag."

Yet, it made me wonder: what would happen if they found out I was the reason a tragedy was about to unfold in this world?

"You need to be careful with what you say, because if they happen to curse you in this world, you won't get any gratitude points, and you won't enjoy your stay here."

"Don't underestimate what every creature is capable of once they give in to their emotions, especially since this world is already full of suffering," Koko added.

I understood what she meant and I had already thought of it myself, but if they didn't know what I knew, they wouldn't give me any importance here.

But they need to know I'm special so they'll listen to me, but I can only do that once I prove useful to them.

"Are you kidding me? You want me to save lives, but you didn't even give me a decent power to help me save this world!"

"I gave you exactly what you wanted. Learn to appreciate the things given to you," Koko replied.

"The power you're so proud of is something I can't even use yet because of your stupid condition."

"Isn't it much more challenging when your powers come with conditions? It's much more exciting to figure out how you'll fulfill and finish what is destined," she teased.

At that, I stomped my foot in frustration and countered her statement.

"Let me tell you, there is nothing exciting about something that will only bring me immense hardship. I know you want me to save this world, but you want me to do it the hard way!" I yelled at her.

"Mister Nathaniel, please don't shout here," Ataparag pleaded.

"Umm . Your right, im sorry."

Ataparag let out a sigh, and a moment later, she couldn't help but ask about what we were discussing.

"You know, the things you two are talking about are so weird, especially regarding saving Endoryo."

I couldn't answer her because I didn't want her to get dragged into this, and it wouldn't be good if she found out the truth about me dictating the fate of this world.

"Don't mind us. It's just a father-and-child hobby of ours to talk like crazy people," Koko interrupted.

"Could you please stop ruining my image in front of her?" I blurted out angrily.

"And another thing, stop saying you're my dad because you're a woman!" I added.

"Oh... did I forget to tell you that beings like me have no gender? We are created as perfect creatures."

She suddenly stood up from her chair, grabbed the hem of her skirt, and lifted it up slightly.

"Do you want to see if what I'm saying is true?"

Everyone in the restaurant started staring at us while Koko looked like she was about to show me what was under her clothes. I immediately grabbed her skirt to pull it back down.

"Please, don't do that," I whispered.

She complied immediately and sat back down to continue eating.

I just let out a sigh and rested my chin on my hand, realizing I had no other choice but to play along with whatever she wanted.

Then it crossed my mind to ask who the young man sitting with her at the table was. That blue-haired guy wearing glasses was apparently another human just like me.

"Ah... I'm Peter, and I honestly don't know why I'm here either," he said.

He explained that he ran into Koko this morning while buying vinegar at a convenience store. She asked him to accompany her to a well-known diner in town, so he tagged along.

"Ah, him? I chose to bring him along on my journey and make him the ultimate hero."

"So you should be proud and happy," Koko added.

"Wait, a hero? Hold on, we never talked about anything like that. I thought I was just going to accompany you so you could find somewhere to eat," Peter protested.

I didn't know if she was joking, but it felt so unfair to me that she was helping Peter become a hero while leaving me to suffer.

"Wait, shouldn't you be the one helping me?"

Her hand fan suddenly materialized, and she whacked me over the head with it.

"I've been helping you for a long time, but you do nothing but complain and act like a coward," she said.

"Can you blame me? Give me something useful so I can at least get excited about what you're making me do."

At that moment, she swung her fan again, and a round object materialized.

It was furry, suddenly grew eyes and a mouth, and started moving around.

"What in the world is that?"

"Since I won't always be around to watch over you, I'm giving you a partner for your own adventure."

She handed it to me and named it Melon.

"Tadah! I proudly introduce my latest creation, Melon," she cheerfully announced.

"Get it? Koko Melon," she added with a smile.

The area went quiet for a moment. No one got her joke as she looked at us, seemingly waiting for a response.

"You guys are so boring," she said, looking bored.

She suddenly snatched it back and tried to take it away from me just because I didn't laugh at her joke.

"You didn't get it? Then I'm taking it back."

I immediately grabbed it back and wrestled her for it, because even if I didn't understand what it was for, I needed anything that could help me.

"I get it! I get it! You're too sensitive," I replied.

At that point, I asked what its use was and how this little creature named Melon was supposed to help me.

"It would be boring if you got things too easily. You will only be able to make use of Melon once you prove that you are serious about fulfilling your duty," she said with a smile.

"What do you really want? Are you actually planning to help me, or are you just messing with me?" I asked.

Her thoughts were hard to read, and I didn't know if she genuinely intended to help me or if this was just another one of her pranks, making me highly doubtful about what Melon could actually do for me.

A second later, she smiled as if she was plotting something evil against me.

"Are you ready to prove yourself to me?"

I didn't know what she meant, but before I could say anything else, she suddenly opened her fan, and in a split second, both of us were transported to an unfamiliar place.

The crowded restaurant vanished, and we were now out in an open space.

"What? Where did you take me?"

We ended up in a vast area where you could see the entire landscape down below. Thinking about it carefully, we were obviously in some very high place.

The wind blowing against us was fiercely strong, making it terrifying to stand there. It felt like a gust could easily blow me off the building and send me plunging to the ground.

"Don't worry, we're just on top of the Agatha Tower."

She mentioned that we were at the peak of the Agatha Tower and that we were here to test if I was finally willing to fulfill my duty as a hero.

"Be a hero? What kind of nonsense are you planning this time?" I asked.

It seemed like she was plotting something against me, but I had no other choice except to wait and hear what she had to say, even though I was already dreading what she might make me do.

Right then, she promised she would unlock Melon's powers once she was pleased with the decisions I made.

"Even though I'm a bit mischievous, I keep my promises. All you need to do is impress me," she said, smiling like a villain.

"Huh?"
