Chapter 5: The Eye Awakens

Avalon woke up.

He had survived another life-threatening encounter. Barely.

This time, he wasn’t dead—just injured and exhausted. He would’ve died for real if that unknown figure hadn’t stepped in at the last second.

“Welcome back,” Bridget’s voice echoed in his mind.

[New Abilities Unlocked]

Before he could check anything, he noticed four people standing before him.

“Are you okay?” April stepped forward, concerned.

“I think so,” Avalon said, slowly standing up and dusting his clothes. He looked at the others.

“You healed me, didn’t you?”

“It’s nothing,” she replied with a kind smile.

“A bit of help,” Ryan muttered, irritated. He wanted to punch something.

Lex was busy scanning the area, while Xavier simply observed, wary.

“Who are you?” Xavier finally asked.

“Avalon Storm,” he replied. “Thanks for saving me.”

He looked around. Where there had once been thousands of scorpions, only blood and shattered shells remained.

“I’m Xavier,” the leader said. “That’s April, Lex, and Ryan.”

Avalon shook their hands. Ryan, trying to test him, gripped hard—but Avalon matched the strength without flinching.

Looks like Ryan’s met his match, April smiled to herself.

Avalon, meanwhile, could tell Xavier wasn’t simple. He felt stronger than the others.

“I found it!” Lex called, pointing to a hill. At its base, a hidden entrance.

“Finally,” April sighed.

“I knew you had a use,” Ryan teased, patting Lex on the shoulder.

Suddenly, a windstorm stirred, kicking up sand.

“Let’s move before something shows up,” Xavier ordered.

Avalon followed but spoke up, “You don’t mind me tagging along, right?”

Xavier paused, eyes narrowing. He was on a mission—no room for distractions. But Avalon… was different.

“Fine. But fend for yourself.”

Avalon nodded.

He had no intention of depending on anyone.

As they ran ahead, he trailed behind and finally had a moment to breathe.

“System,” he said.

“Who’s system? Just call me Bridget.”

“Fine. Bridget, where am I?”

“You are in the Desert Realm,” she answered, then explained the six realms briefly.

“Show me my stats,” he said.

“Now that’s what I’m talking about,” Avalon muttered, eyes glowing faintly.

But compared to the kind of power he was truly after—the god-killing kind—this was just a step. A small one.

He had revenge to plot.

Gods to kill.

And thinking about it made his blood boil. But anger wouldn’t help him now. Not yet.

He calmed his breathing, closed the status screen, and sprinted to catch up with the others.

“Where are we going?” Avalon asked, keeping pace beside April. She was the only one he felt might give him a straight answer.

“One of the lost temples of the God of Weaponry,” she said. “We recently found a map leading to it... but it was stolen from us.”

They slowed to a walk as they reached a dark stone entrance. The ancient walls looked like they’d been undisturbed for years.

Avalon raised a brow. “You mean Karevis, right?”

April glanced at him, surprised. “Yes.”

He frowned.

That name. That god.

Avalon remembered him. Vividly.

Karevis had stood among the gods who watched his world burn—who led the assault that wiped out his city and left him for dead.

April noticed the change in his expression but said nothing. She could sense the shift, but she wasn’t going to pry.

Inside, the tunnel was pitch black.

Xavier stepped ahead, his palm igniting with flame. Firelight danced against the dusty walls, revealing worn carvings and faded glyphs.

But Avalon didn’t need the fire.

His vision now stretched beyond darkness.

That was the power of the God’s Eye.

> [God’s Eye: Activated]

His irises glowed gold, a black vertical slit forming in the center.

He could see everything—clearer, farther, deeper.

Even through walls.

Avalon extended his vision outward—five meters… then ten. The world unfolded.

At first, silence.

Then movement.

Shadows.

Dozens—no, hundreds—of skeletal soldiers moving slowly through the halls ahead. Some held rifles. Others, swords and spears. Their armor was rusted but intact. They moved as one.

And scattered among the bones were broken limbs and shattered skulls. Someone had come through here already.

The ones who stole the map... they must’ve triggered the guardian army, Avalon thought.

“We’ve got company,” Avalon said calmly, eyes still glowing.

Everyone froze.

They looked around—nothing. Not a single sound.

Lex narrowed his eyes at Avalon. Is he a Sensory Type too? It was rare to see one—especially with that level of precision.

Even Xavier frowned. As a trained Sensory warrior, he tried to detect what Avalon had sensed...

But he couldn’t feel anything.

Until suddenly, he did.

A wave of undead presence washed through the hall—and it hit him like ice.

Strong. Numerous. Hostile.

His eyes widened.

His sensory ability… it surpasses mine. Who the hell is this guy?

“...He’s right,” Xavier finally said, tension in his voice. “Let’s move.”

Lex and Ryan exchanged glances but didn’t argue. April was already moving. Avalon followed quietly, his golden eyes dimming slightly—but the vision never truly faded.

Avalon’s eyes glowed brightly, but he could feel the God’s Eye draining his mana fast. The strain was too much—so he deactivated it.

They kept running, boots thudding against the cold stone floor. Avalon stayed in the middle of the group, Xavier and April led at the front, while Lex and Ryan flanked him from behind.

Avalon had been tracking the presence ahead with his senses, eyes narrowed in focus.

Then suddenly… the energy vanished.

Completely.

Like it had never been there.

Xavier noticed it too—the sudden silence, the energy gone like it had been swallowed.

But they kept moving.

When they reached the exact spot where the presence had been felt, they stopped.

Everyone went still. On guard. Tense.

Then—

Bang!

The walls to their sides exploded, stone and dust flying as the ceiling began to crumble.

The team was thrown apart by the force, split into two groups.

A massive shadow emerged from the rubble. Smoke poured from the ground as the creature stepped through, each step it took shaking the floor.

Its body was stitched from bone and ash-black metal. Red eyes flared through the dust.

Then it slammed a clawed hand into the ground.

The earth trembled.

From the shadows, an army of the dead began to rise—skeletons in broken armor, wielding rusted weapons. They emerged behind and in front, closing in fast.

Avalon’s eyes narrowed.

They were surrounded. The army of the undead had been summoned. It left no space for anyone to leave—they had to die here.

Avalon smiled. His eyes glowed with fire. He was finally going to test his skills and fight.

“Nice timing, Bridget... Just what I was waiting for.”

The noise was deafening — the rattling of armor, the clash of rusted weapons, the pounding of hundreds of bony feet against the stone. • Chapter 4: Halo Clan

“Are we ever going to find this temple?” April complained, shielding her eyes from the sun. Her boots sank slightly into the hot sand as she moved forward beside four others. A bow bounced against her back, and two daggers rested by her hips. “It’s been hours.” “Then Lex shouldn’t have lost it,” Ryan growled, sweat dripping down his neck as his armor clanked with every step. The desert heat wasn’t kind to metal. He looked ready to stab something preferably Lex. Lex moved away from Ryan and adjusted the edge of his cloak, trying to keep the dust out of his face. His voice was low, lazy and dry like the wind around them. “It... was stolen.” “Enough with the blaming. Let’s keep moving,” a calm voice cut through the rising argument. It wasn’t loud, but it stopped everyone instantly. Something in that voice held weight. Command. Power. Xavier walked a few steps ahead, his cloak barely fluttering in the hot desert wind. His presence alone settled them. There was no question — he was th
